    05/19/2019
    Q
Will Permethrin SFR 36.8 get rid of mole crickets and if so what is the application for a 1 acre lot?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for mole crickets. The labeled rate is 0.4 – 0.8 fl. oz. of Permethrin SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control. If you’re using the higher rate of 0.8 oz per 1000 sq ft, that would require 35.2 ounces for an acre.

  • Asked by Adam from Wisconsin

    Q
How does Permethrin SFR 36.8% compare to Bifen XTS?
Looks like it's used to kill same insects; just curious how it compares. I'm very happy with Bifen product but always looking for 5e next best thing. Thanks
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labelled for many of the same insects as Bifen XTS and would actually be a good choice to use as a rotation insecticide. Typically you will want to rotate insecticides about every 6 months to prevent any type of resistance from developing when the same active ingredient or mode of action is used for an extended amount of time.

  • Asked by Per from E.bruns, Nj
    07/12/2018
    Q
Would Permethrin SFR be the most effective pesticide to control ticks?
What would be the most effective pesticide to control ticks? I am considering Permethrin, Demand and Cy-Kick, with an IGR if that is the recommendation. This year in central NJ we now have the Lone Star tick in addition to the deer tick. As part of the yard treamtent, I would also consider a bait box for small rodents that applies Fipronil to their coat. Thanks
    A

Yes, Permethrin SFR 36.8% would be a very effective insecticide to control ticks.  It is labeled for ticks (including Deer Tick and Western Black legged Tick).  Permethrin would be mixed at 0.4 to 0.8 Fluid Ounces per gallon of water to treat 1000 square feet of lawn and applied as a broadcast application.

    Q
    How much Permethrin SFR 36.8%
    A

We would recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% at the rate of 1 2/3 oz. per gallon water for ticks.  It would also be a good idea to incorporate an insect growth regulator (IGR) such as Archer IGR for complete control of ticks.

  • Asked by Marissa from Alice, Tx

    Q
Will Permethrin SFR 36.8% kill termites?
I found a little “mud sculpture” in my daughter's room. At first I thought it was mud so I went to get a napkin to clean it with but I got distracted and forgot about it. When I went back later that night it had grown and as I looked at it I could see tiny small white “worms/heads” kinda poking in and out. I've never seen anything like that before. Will this work? And how and where do I spray it? At what concentration?
    A

Per the product label, when treating for termites, you will use the 0.5% solution rate, which is 1 2/3 oz. of Permethrin SFR per gallon of water. We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment to help do this. You can see the guide by clicking on the link here.

  • Asked by M from Phoenix, Az
    10/25/2017
    Q
How long does a treatment of Permethrin SFR last?
I will be using it on the exterior of my home in Arizona for arachnids and wonder how often I would need to retreat the area to remain pest free.
    A

Since Permethrin SFR is an oil-based product it is going to be more prone to break down in the extreme heat and sunlight in your area faster than other products. You will likely have to reapply the Permethrin every 30 days to keep insect populations under control and have a strong residual still on the surface. We would suggest when you get ready to order more product in the future going with something better designed for your environment like Cy Kick CS or Onslaught FastCap which will also likely give a better control over arachnids and other pests they feed on due to their encapsulation.

  • Asked by Anne
    09/20/2016
    Q
What time of year is appropriate to use Permethrin SFR 36.8%?
Live in Kansas I want to apply product on ground around hive to reduce hive Beetles.
    A

You want to be very careful when using Permethrin SFR 36.8% to treat for hive beetles as the Permethrin is highly toxic to bees! According to the attached article from the University of Arkansas about Managing Small Hive Beetles :   Soil Treatment - The pupal stage is a vulnerable time in the beetle life cycle. Slightly moist, loose, sandy soil is optimal for their development. Locating colonies on hard clay or rocky soil, rather than light sandy soil, can reduce the number of beetly larvae that successfully pupate. If larvae are present in the colony, soil around the hive can be treated with a permethrin drench to prevent the larvae from pupating, killing them in the soil.

We also suggest that you contact your local Extension office  to see what their recommendations are for as far as time frame for you to do this in your area. Most times they can give you much more precise advice on those times of years more specific to your local area.
