Permethrin SFR 36.8% - Questions & Answers

Hi yield 38 contains 38% Permethirn, whereas Permethrin SFR contains 36.8% Permethrin. They also are made by different manufacturers. They are both applied the same way and only labeled for outdoor use.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% can be applied to indoor cracks and crevices when the children and pets are not present. They can return once the treated areas are completely dry. Depending on the mix ratio used and how heavily you sprayed, it could be anywhere from just as the product has has had time to dry, or several hours after application before the smell of the Permethrin SFR completely goes away. If the odor is objectionable, then you may want to consider switching to a water-based insecticide, rather than an oil-based one. You can use any of the rates that you mentioned for flea control. The most common rates used for lawns would be .8 ounces per gallon. You will want to keep your grass short and target your sprays towards any area that holds moisture more than another. It can also help to use an insect growth regulator with the spray to help stop the reproductive cycle of the fleas. One of the best IGRs for this would be the NyGuard IGR which can easily be mixed and sprayed at the same time with the Permethrin to be applied at the same time.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is only labeled for fly control as a perimeter treatment or for animal quarters such as barns. A more appropriate product would be Talstar P. You should locate and eliminate the breeding source of the flies, since control will be very difficult relying on sprays. An easy and effective tool is the Flies Be Gone Fly Trap, which catches thousands of flies from up to 100 yards away. This trap is disposable and should be hung about 30 feet away from the house or other areas where you spend time. Please see our Flies Pest Guide for more information.

You did not state in your question or other detail what you are treating for. Permethrin SFR 36.8% per the product label can be mixed with either water, diesel oil, or suitable mileral oil. For most structural pest control applications, you will dilute Permethrin SFR with water.

To dilute Permethrin SFR 36.8% into a 0.5% solution, you would use 1 2/3 fluid ounces per gallon of water. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions.

 

We recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% to treat your dogs individually for fleas and ticks. You should  mix ¼ fl. oz. to 1 pt. water, 1-2 fl. oz. spray per animal. (do not use on cats) Ticks 0.6257% AI. Spot treat back, face, legs, Low pressure spray. tail and ears.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% cannot be applied to edible vegetation. It does not leach into the soil to the roots, but still cannot be used over veggies. Depending on what you are treating and for what, you could use Sevin concentrate.

The mixing rate of Permethrin SFR 36.8% for fire ants is 1 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water. For an acre, it is recommended that you use 32 fl oz in 20 gallons of water. The label recommends that you treat each mound directly and treat at least 4 feet around each mound so that the ants do not move their mounds.

Permethrin 36.8% and Permethrin SFR 36.8% are the same product with the same percentage of active ingredient. We do not recommend the product for bedbug treatments. You will need 1 1/3 oz. of Permethrin SFR per gallon of water when treating for roaches.  Everyone should be kept out of the treated area until everything is fully dry.  It is not necessary to air out the house as long as there is adequate ventilation.  You may want to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing roaches. 

You do not state exactly what type of worms you would be trying to use Permethrin SFR 36.8% to treat. This product has several pests on the label. If you happen to be speaking of things like heartworm or intestinal worms, no this product would not treat for anything like that.

 

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for any type of biting gnat or biting midge (another name for sand gnats) and may not provide effective control. We would recommend choosing a product that is specifically labeled for gnats or midges such as Talstar P or Onslaught. Both of these products are labeled for biting gnats and midges and can be sprayed over the lawn. Flying insects are hard to control because they do not readily come into contact with the areas where you have sprayed the insecticide, so it important to spray areas where the tiny flies actually land or hang out.

For indoor use you should use for roach control use 1 2 / 3 f l . o z .for each gallon of water used. We also recommend you review our Roach Guide so you can understand how to  implement a full roach control program for best efficacy.

Permethrin SFR would be mixed at 1 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water for wasps.  We have a great guide with instructions on "How to Get Rid of & Kill Wasps" that might help, it includes a video of where you would spray to help deter them from nesting in areas around the home.

Onslaught FastCap is a unique insecticide that has an encapsulated pyrethroid plus prallethrin for quick knockdown. Permethrin SFR contains permethrin - a different pyrethroid - and it is not encapsulated. The encapsulation really helps products to last longer in the heat and sunlight in desert environments better than the Permethrin SFR would. Our other most popular insecticides to rotate with Onslaught would be Cyzmic CS or CyKick CS. You could always add 0.25 - 0.5 oz of ExciteR insecticide to either Cyzmic or CyKick for that extra quick knockdown, if desired.

Dending on many factors such as insect type, etc  Permethrin SFR 36.8%? can take minutes to hours to kill insects. Roach Control Rotation A Kit? is great for treating roaches. We would not recommend Permethrin SFR 36.8% for a bed bug treatment because they can easily grow resistance. We would definitely recommend something more like Temprid SC because it has two active ingredients that actually work against bed bugs that may have resitance to other products. Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for chiggers. Onslaught insecticide is labeled for chiggers and can be used both indoors and outdoors as a broadcast spray. Chiggers are not known to infest structures. Chiggers are most likely outdoors in your yard. Many people are lead to believe that the infestation is indoors because they do not feel the effects of the chigger bites right away and then are lead to believe they are being bitten at a later time. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors. If you feel strongly that you are being bitten inside by something we would urge you to get a sample of the pest and have it professionally identified by an entomologist. You can find an entomologist in your area by contacting your local cooperative extension office.
