Phantom must be diluted with water and Gentrol for Roach and Spider Control. Gentrol will break down the reproductive cycle of the roaches. We also recommend to incorporate a bait like Maxforce Magnum into the treatment program for roaches. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more information.
Yes, it is safe for the bird to walk around after the Phantom has dried. We did call the manufacturer to confirm this and they said there should be no issues as long as the surfaces are in fact dry. Typically, it should only take about 30 minutes to dry, but you may want to wait one hour just to make sure.
Birds are very sensitive to many insecticides, so we would not recommend using something like Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide in any areas where a bird such as a parrot may come into contact with the spray or the residual. You can view more information about potential toxicology of the product on the SDS here. We do recommend consulting your vet before using any insecticides indoors in a home with birds.
There are many newer insecticides containing active ingredients that have almost no toxicity to birds that will still do a great job on ants. Also, baits should be used in bait plate stations that could be placed in areas where pets would not have access to them. Advion Ant Bait Gel contains Indoxacarb, which must be digested by the target pests to take effect, and this is a great choice for ants (including crazy ants) looking for sweets or carbohydrates. For a protein (granule) bait, InTice 10 contains boric acid as the active ingredient, also with far less toxicity to non-target animals. If you prefer a spray, Arilon Insecticide is a non-repellent spray that also contains Indoxacarb.
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is not labeled for mites. This would not be an appropriate substitute for registered miticides that may contain the same active ingredient.
Phantom Termiticide is not labeled to be used in a fogger, it is only as an inside crack and crevice treatment with a sprayer. Please look at our Fogging Insecticide Page for approved products to be used in fogging equipment.
Phantom is safe to apply to the interior cracks and crevices when the children are not present. They can return when the surfaces are completely dried. It should only be applied to listed areas on the product label.
When used as directed Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is a very safe product, only containing enough of the active ingredient to kill insects, not enough to harm mammals. As with any chemical, it important to follow all label instructions and precautions and keep the product out of reach of children and pets. Be sure to keep pets out of the area until dried. We recommend that you read through the product label and the MSDS to learn all safety precautions and instructions.
Termidor SC outside and Phantom inside would be a great combo to use and would work like baits. They both are non repellent and will transfer through the colony from the ones that contact a treated surface.
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is not labeled to treat for fleas. We highly recommend using the Indoor/Outdoor Flea kit. The Outdoor/Indoor Flea and Tick Kit contains all the professional pest control products you need to treat for both fleas and ticks inside and outside your home, apartment, or similar structure.
It is recommended that you apply Phantom Insecticide when individuals are not in the home. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for individuals to return to the area.
After Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide has dried, it will not harm people or pets. This make take up to 2 hours.
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide can leave a residual for up to 90 days. Please keep in mind, that if you are treating for example, Bed Bugs, you will want to reapply every 21 days.
Baits should not be applied in any areas that have been treated with Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide. Baits are placed up high in corners of cabinets of drawers, cracks along counter tops, etc. and sprays are down low, along baseboards, behind the refrigerator and stove, dishwasher, etc. We have a guide on "How to Treat for Roaches" that can explain exactly where you should be using the two products, but no, they should not be applied in the same areas.
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is only labeled to be applied once a month inside. There is no fool proof way to prevent bed bugs and chemicals alone would not do so. We do have a great guide on "How to Prevent Bed Bugs" that can help explain how to prevent future infestations.
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide will work great to protect your apartment against Bed bugs and other insects. Also, consider using dust like Cimexa dust in wall voids.
We carry Phantom Termiticide right on our website. To get certified to make applications as a business you would need to check with your local regulations and requirements. Generally with your department of agricultural or other state department of pesticide regulation.
Per the product label, when using Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide it is not necessary to use a respirator if you will be using this product in a ventilated area, but if you will be using it in a non-ventilated area you would need to use one. We recommend the Comfo Classic Half-Mask Respirator if it is needed.
You would use Phantom Termiticide/Insectiide at a rate of 3 oz per gallon of water to treat for bed bugs. We do recommend using other products such as Bedlam in combination with Phantom so you will have both a fast knockdown and a long-lasting residual.
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is an adulticide only, not an IGR, and it is not labeled for fleas. We would recommend using a product called Nyguard Plus instead, which contains both an insecticide and an IGR. It can take multiple treatments and lots of vacuuming in between treatments to completely eradicate a flea infestation. Hard floor surfaces do not need to have products broadcast over them, as they are not habitable for adult fleas. Instead, you should direct the treatment to cracks and crevices around these rooms and in the floors. Please take a look at our Flea Control Guide for more tips and information on how to do a complete treatment.
When treating for roaches with Phantom (or any other spray), it is very important to remember that it will take time to fully eradicate them, especially if the infestation is severe. It would also be a good idea to use a roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator (IGR) along with your insecticide for faster results. Please take a look at our Roach Control Guide for tips on how to treat and prevent roaches.
