    Q
Do I have to mix Phantom with anything but water for roach and spider control, and how long does it take to see a difference?
    A

Phantom must be diluted with water and Gentrol for Roach and Spider Control. Gentrol will break down the reproductive cycle of the roaches. We also recommend to incorporate a bait like Maxforce Magnum into the treatment program for roaches. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more information.

  • Asked by Tanya from Houston, Tx

    Q
Is Phantom safe to use if you have a bird?
I realize I would need to remove her during application, but is it safe after it dries? As with most pet birds, curiosity leads her to stick her beak around crevices and corners and edges in the home. Would it harm her if it got on her feet or in her mouth later? When would it dissipate for good where it would no longer be a threat to her? Crazy Ants are driving us crazy, but I have had her 30 yrs!
    A

Yes, it is safe for the bird to walk around after the Phantom has dried. We did call the manufacturer to confirm this and they said there should be no issues as long as the surfaces are in fact dry. Typically, it should only take about 30 minutes to dry, but you may want to wait one hour just to make sure.

  • Asked by Tabya from Houston, Tx

    Q
Will Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide harm a parrot to walk through it once dried?
My parrot walks and roams around on the floor often and does like to play against the crevices and sides of the wall and carpet. She does get her beak in the crevices. If Phantom was put down and allowed to dry with her out of the house a couple of days, could she safely walk through it or possibly get it in her mouth and still be safe? She so will put her foot in her mouth ... Literally! I have had her 30 yrs, but the black crazy ants have invaded our home. I put Termidor in the outside.
    A

Birds are very sensitive to many insecticides, so we would not recommend using something like Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide in any areas where a bird such as a parrot may come into contact with the spray or the residual. You can view more information about potential toxicology of the product on the SDS here. We do recommend consulting your vet before using any insecticides indoors in a home with birds.

There are many newer insecticides containing active ingredients that have almost no toxicity to birds that will still do a great job on ants. Also, baits should be used in bait plate stations that could be placed in areas where pets would not have access to them. Advion Ant Bait Gel contains Indoxacarb, which must be digested by the target pests to take effect, and this is a great choice for ants (including crazy ants) looking for sweets or carbohydrates. For a protein (granule) bait, InTice 10 contains boric acid as the active ingredient, also with far less toxicity to non-target animals. If you prefer a spray, Arilon Insecticide is a non-repellent spray that also contains Indoxacarb.

  • Asked by Dean from Ashland, Or
    01/27/2016
    Q
Does Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide work on mites since it has Chlorfenapyr, the ingredient in miticides?
A popular (and expensive miticide) has the same active ingredient, Chlorfenapyr, and I'm wondering if this product would also work on rust mites.
    A

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is not labeled for mites. This would not be an appropriate substitute for registered miticides that may contain the same active ingredient.

  • Asked by Marcia from Red Bank, Nj
    04/28/2016
    Q
How safe is Phantom around house cats?
I have two 17-year-old house cats.
    A

When used as directed Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is a very safe product, only containing enough of the active ingredient to kill insects, not enough to harm mammals. As with any chemical, it important to follow all label instructions and precautions and keep the product out of reach of children and pets. Be sure to keep pets out of the area until dried. We recommend that you read through the product label and the MSDS to learn all safety precautions and instructions.

  • Asked by Ryan from Lewisport, Ky
    05/02/2016
    Q
Will Termidor on the outside and Phantom Ttermiticide/Insectide on the inside take care of my ant problem?
I have tiny black ants in several locations of my house and they are driving me nuts! With this combo knock them out or do I need to use baits also? My wife doesn't like the mess of the baits and also the fact that my 1 yr old son is into everything right now.. The bait stations attract my kid just as much as the ants.
    A

Termidor SC outside and Phantom inside would be a great combo to use and would work like baits.  They both are non repellent and will transfer through the colony from the ones that contact a treated surface.

  • Asked by Westley from Williamsport, Pa
    09/10/2016
    Q
Can I spray Phantom then apply a roach bait in the same location?
If I spray Phantom in the same areas that I intend to apply roach bait when dry will the phantom interfere with the roach bait application? I do not intend to spray Phantom over the roach bait, I will let it dry then apply roach bait.
    A

Baits should not be applied in any areas that have been treated with Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide. Baits are placed up high in corners of cabinets of drawers, cracks along counter tops, etc. and sprays are down low, along baseboards, behind the refrigerator and stove, dishwasher, etc.  We have a guide on "How to Treat for Roaches" that can explain exactly where you should be using the two products, but no,  they should not be applied in the same areas.

  • Asked by Susan from Ny, Ny

    Q
As a preventive measure and after bedbugs are no longer a problem how often should you spray Phantom indoors?
Such as exterminator spraying , bed frames, and around perimeter of room about 6 inches up wall and 6 inches on floor where moldings meet floor?
    A

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is only labeled to be applied once a month inside.  There is no fool proof way to prevent bed bugs and chemicals alone would not do so.  We do have a great guide on "How to Prevent Bed Bugs" that can help explain how to prevent future infestations.

    Q
How many ounces per gallon of Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide do I use to treat bed bugs?
    A

You would use Phantom Termiticide/Insectiide at a rate of 3 oz per gallon of water to treat for bed bugs. We do recommend using other products such as Bedlam in combination with Phantom so you will have both a fast knockdown and a long-lasting residual.

  • Asked by Onofre from Chicago, Il
    11/17/2016
    Q
I have a big flea problem. My first floor is wood, and my second floor is carpeted.
I fogged with hotshot for fleas on both floors and basement, and I bought Phantom IGR. What is the best way to use this product?
    A

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is an adulticide only, not an IGR, and it is not labeled for fleas.  We would recommend using a product called Nyguard Plus instead, which contains both an insecticide and an IGR.  It can take multiple treatments and lots of vacuuming in between treatments to completely eradicate a flea infestation.  Hard floor surfaces do not need to have products broadcast over them, as they are not habitable for adult fleas. Instead, you should direct the treatment to cracks and crevices around these rooms and in the floors.  Please take a look at our Flea Control Guide for more tips and information on how to do a complete treatment.

  • Asked by Dora from Miami, Fl
    11/27/2016
    Q
I have German cockroaches. I've applied Phantom, but it doesn't seem to be working. How long will it take to see results?
    A

When treating for roaches with Phantom (or any other spray), it is very important to remember that it will take time to fully eradicate them, especially if the infestation is severe.  It would also be a good idea to use a roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator (IGR) along with your insecticide for faster results.  Please take a look at our Roach Control Guide for tips on how to treat and prevent roaches.
