We would recommend to use a high volume of water when applying Pramitol 25E, or to water in within 24 hours. Pramitol is a total vegetation killing product and will eliminate anything growing where you spray it. The Pramitol will keep anything new from growing in the treated areas for up to 1 year. Caution should be used during application as some leaching in the soil could occur and destroy nearby desirable vegetation and turfs. The Pramitol needs to be mixed at the rate of 8 ounces per each gallon of water at the lowest dilution and can be used up to 32 ounces per gallon for harder to kill brush. Time of plant death will depend on how much product is absorbed through the root system, if it is irrigate after application and if the plant is under any stress to cause it to not absorb the product as quickly. It could be days or weeks before complete death is visible in the weeds you are treating. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Please see the product label for complete application directions.
Pramitol 25E will not control brush, woody vegetation, or trees. You could still apply this in the area for grassy and broadleaf plants, however you would need to use a more appropriate product for the brush such as Crossbow Herbicide.
Pramitol 25E actually states on the product label: For faster top-kill of existing vegetation, apply Pramitol 25E in diesel oil, fuel oil, or weed oil. Use oils at rates of 100 - 200 gals./A. Tall, dense vegetation, such as johnsongrass, will generally require 150 or more gals. of oil per acre for thorough coverage.
Pramitol 25E could harm mature trees if applied inside the drip line of desirable trees. To avoid harm apply only outside the drip line of the mature trees.
Pramitol 25E works as both a post-emergent and a pre-emergent herbicide, so it will both affect existing plants and prevent new plants from growing. If there is a lot of dying vegetation in an area where you want to apply Pramitol, be sure to use plenty of water to carry the active ingredient into the soil. Pramitol will not be absorbed into plants that are already dead or dying from other herbicides. Pramitol will effectively prevent new plant growth for up to 12 months when applied according to the product label. Pramitol will not kill existing woody vegetation. You are pretty close on your application needs. The Pramitol 25E Product Label states for under asphalt and similar areas: Apply Pramitol 25E uniformly at the rate of 7.8 gals. per acre (23 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft.) in a minimum of 100 gals. of water. Use the lower rate to control annual and susceptible perennial weeds and grasses such as downy bromegrass, oatgrass, goosegrass, quackgrass, puncturevine, goldenrod, and plantain. Use the higher rate to control hard-to-kill perennial weeds and grasses such as johnsongrass, bindweed, and wild carrot.
Mixing roundup in will definitely help with the burn down of the already actively growing and emerged weeds. Using most roundup products around 2-5 oz per gallon of water will yield a strong enough solution for any burn down. Be sure to keep the Pramitol outside the dripline of any desirable vegetation on the property like trees/bushes/shrubs etc.
There is no restriction on the Pramitol 25E product label regarding playgrounds, it would be used only in areas where complete control of all vegetation is desired. As long as children are out of the area during application until dry it should be ok to use.
Pramitol 25E should not be applied if the ground is frozen.
