Product Overview

Resolute 65 WG Prodiamine Herbicide (Generic Barricade) and Barricade 4FL Pre-Emergent Herbicide (Prodiamine), contain the same active ingredient.

Prodiamine 65 WDG (WG stands for Wettable Dispersible Granule) is an effective pre-emergent herbicide for pre-emergent grass and broadleaf weed control.  Prodiamine is flexible enough that it can be applied in both the spring and fall for season long crabgrass control.  Prodiamine 65 WG also control bluegrass, spurge, witchgrass and more, and can be used safely on St. Augustine, Bermudagrass, Fescue and other common turf grasses (see label for complete list). Prodiamine 65 WDG is non-staining and can be mixed and applied along with fertilizer and iron solutions.

Easy to use for First timer!

    By Lg on 03/14/2017

Research enough on this stuff to be an expert. Conversion was easy when using Google. I used a little pill cup with tablespoon, ML, oz markers to properly mix the product. Took the average of the label recommendation @ 0.185-0.55o oz per 1000 sqft. Came out to ~ 10 ml per 1000 sq ft in 2 gallons of water. Took 3.5 refill @ 2 gallons of my E-sprayer. But was done in <1 hour for 7K sq ft yard. It rained the next 2 days so hoping to see no crab grass or other weeds when April hits

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
Thank you for your feedback! There is also a conversion chart on page 27 of the product label for volume measurements since this is a granule concentrate. You can also always give us a call at 866-581-7378 if you have any questions about how to apply a product. Product label: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/msds/Prodiamine_65_WDG_Label.pdf

Prodiamine 65 WDG Is a Blessing to my Centipede

    By Anonymous on 06/10/2013

    Verified Purchase

I sowed my grass in April of 2012. It was used for crops prior to building a house and seeding. I had the ability to water and thankfully received a good amount from the Big Man. However, I kept noticing that the highest part of my yard, didn't come up as expected. Crabgrass outgrew the centipede so I was left with a major problem. In March of 2013 I applied Prodimine 65 WDG to prevent the crabgrass from coming up. It worked great!!!!!! The spaces where my grass hadn't came up, were now dead and the centipede was able to grow across. My yard is not fully covered, but should be by the end of the growing season. If I hadn't sprayed, the crabgrass would have came up and the centipede wouldn't have been able to spread like it did. I used about 1 pound per acre. In the lower parts of my yard the centipede came up really good last year. As I speak, the crabgrass is starting to come back in the lower part because it is very heavy and fertile soil. You could literally grow anything on it. I wish I would have applied the whole 2 pounds per acre so I would have had a residual of approx. 8 months. Lesson Learned. I highly recommend to anyone who is having a weed problem. I am a happy customer!!!!!

Lawn treatment for Fox tail and crab grass.

    By Ray on 04/10/2016

Used this for the first time spring of 2015. Mixed 4 oz. per 15 gallons in my sprayer. Laid out the yard in 1/4 acre sections using google earth. Have been fighting fox tail for years. After using Prodiamine had no weeds in the treated areas. Didn't do another application in late July like I should have so had some fox tail show up in the fall. In 2016 will do two applications and plan on great results.

Q
I am planning to use an Ortho Dial and Spray to treat my lawn with Prodiamine 65. What setting range should I use?

Also what spray pattern is recommend, fan or rain?

A

Prodiamine 65 is a WDG (water dispersible granule) formulation which means it must be mixed in a tank sprayer of some sort and applied that way rather than through a hose end sprayer. Hose end sprayers also are not as accurate as tank sprayers and have no way to regulate at what point you have put out a certain amount of product to keep from under or over applying.

Q
Can i use "Chapin Wet / Dry Hose-End Sprayer #6005" to spray Prodiamine 65 WDG over 1000sqft of lawn.

If yes, could you please provide me the instruction on how much water should i mix with and what should be the sprayer setting for 1000sqft of lawn. Also can I mix this with liquid fertiziler like CoRoN 18-3-6 Plus 0.5% Fe Thanks Amit

A

Prodiamine 65 WDG is a water dispersible granule and will not work well in a hose end sprayer. We recommend you use this product in a hand pump sprayer or a back sprayer.  You can tank mix with a fertilizer like the CoRon 18-3-6 Plus 0.5% Iron as long as each rate on the product labels are followed.

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft depending on your lawn type and length of desired control. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.055 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.  Please refer the Prodiamine label to be sure of how much you will use.

Q
Does Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) require a surfactant?
A

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is a pre-emergent that does not require a surfactant.  Those would only be added with some post emergent products to treat actively growing weeds according to their product labels.

Q
When is the best time to apply Prodiamine 65 WDG?

I live near the NC/SC border. We moved into a new house last year and the yard needs some work. I was hoping I could time it so I can apply this and still seed this spring.

A

Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG will inhibit the development of turfgrass species overseeded too soon after application.  It will depend upon the rate of product used per acre as to how many months you need to wait before reseeding.  At the minimum use rate, you need to wait 4 months before reseeding.  Please follow the label instructions.
