Product Overview

The Pyrethroid Resistant Bed Bug Control Kit provides you with the newest and best professional products necessary to do a complete bed bug treatment in homes or apartments. Unlike other kits you may find, the Do My Own Pest Control kits contain the most effective products available based on the most current research. This kit contains newer formulations designed especially to treat pyrethroid-resistant strains of bed bugs, often a problem in apartments, hotels, or highly populated areas where there is more consistently a threat of bed bug infestations. This kit contains 2 x 13 oz. bottles of Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate, 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs, 1 hand dusting tool, 4 x 17 oz. cans of Bedlam Plus Bed Bug Spray, plus a DoMyOwnPestControl.com exclusive step-by-step guide.

This kit does not come with a hand pump sprayer, but one is required to apply the Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate. For residents of NY, RI, PR, or CT, see our New York Bed Bug Kit.

*Please note, due to supply chain backorder issues, you may receive a slightly different hand duster than pictured. All duster substitutions are comparable and are all used in the same manner*

Why do I need to use so many different products?

It is important to treat the many different areas where bed bugs hide. Each product included in the kit has a specific function to help eliminate a bedbug infestation. We do not recommend relying on one product or treatment method since bugs may avoid areas treated with certain products, or they may become resistant to certain chemicals. It is also crucial to thoroughly Inspect the treatment area for possible bed bug harborages, and to follow all the Treatment steps, including follow-up treatments.

Before applying any chemicals, it is crucial to prepare the area for treatment by removing clutter, vacuuming, steaming (optional), and encasing mattresses and box springs. Taking time for these preparation steps will make your treatments much more successful. Using the products in your Bed Bug Kit, treat all cracks, crevices, voids, tufts, seams, and folds where bed bugs may be found. Always keep pets, children, and other people out of the treatment area until the products have dried - usually about an hour.

STEP 1 - SPRAY - Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate

*Wear gloves when mixing and handling pesticides, such as Nitrile Chemical Resistant Gloves.

*Crossfire is conveniently packaged in a single dose 13 fl. oz. container that should be mixed into 115 oz. of water to produce exactly 1 finished gallon.

*Fill the sprayer tank 1/3 - 1/2 full with clean, temperate water. Shake Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate before opening, then add a 13 oz. bottle of Crossfire Concentrate per gallon of water to sprayer tank.

*Close and agitate tank to begin mixing.

*Finish filling sprayer tank with remaining water and agitate once more before spraying bed bug mixture.

*Apply the Crossfire spray to the following areas, contacting as many bugs and eggs directly in these areas as possible:

  • Around bed and furniture legs - Inspect wheels, casters, posts, and legs of all furniture
  • Behind wall fixtures
  • Under floor lamps
  • Walls, floorboards, baseboards, or corners
  • Cracks and crevices along baseboards and floor moldings
  • Beneath floor coverings and along the edges of wall-to-wall carpeting
  • On infested mattress and box springs - Remove bed linens, then apply until thoroughly damp but not wet paying special attention to seams, folds, tufts, and edges. Remake with clean linens prior to use
  • Spray bed frames, headboards, dressers, shelves, and other furniture, paying special attention to cracks, crevices, and joints
  • Picture frames and wall coverings - Remove from the wall and treat cracks and crevices on and behind these items.
  • Around door frames, window frames, and thresholds
  • Upholstered furniture - spray infested tufts, seams, folds, and edges

*Do not remake beds or replace items on shelves or in drawers until spray has dried.

*Do not apply as a space spray or broadcast treatment to floors, floor coverings, mattresses, or other furniture.

*Remove pets, birds, and cover fish aquariums before spraying. Do not spray product directly on pets.

*Try to mix only enough spray to use for the day. When finished spraying, empty sprayer completely outdoors, rinse with clean water, then store open and empty.

STEP 2 - AEROSOL SPRAY - Bedlam Plus Insecticide

*Allow the Crossfire Bed Bug spray application to dry before applying Bedlam Plus Aerosol.

*Bedlam Plus is a ready-to-use aerosol with two active ingredients, ideal for treating many areas, especially those where it may be difficult to treat with a pump sprayer.

*Using the straw applicator will help to treat the tight areas where bed bugs like to hide the most. If you have trouble inserting the straw, try using a pair of pliers to force the tube into the spray nozzle.

*Shake the can well before using. Bedlam Plus is a water-based insecticide, but it will settle between uses.

*Apply to the very fine cracks and crevices on and in furniture around the entire room, such as:

  • Upholstered furniture - Treat along seams and folds, under cushions, around legs, and on the undersides.
  • Baseboards -  Treat any cracks in the baseboard and then treat underneath the baseboard to prevent bed bugs from crawling underneath and accessing adjacent rooms in the house.
  • Treat the whole bed - Mattress, box spring and bed frame – Treat along the corners, folds and seams of the mattress. Treat the undersides, corners, seams and under stapled dust cover and even the internal areas of box springs. Also spray the cracks, crevices, voids and screw holes of the bed frame.
  • Pictures and wall hangings – remove from the wall and treat cracks and crevices of picture frames and behind pictures and wall hangings.

*Bedlam Plus Aerosol will kill both the bed bugs that are contacted with the direct spray and those that come across treated areas for up to two weeks.

STEP 3 - DUST - Bellow Hand Duster and CimeXa Insecticide Dust

*Once your spray application has dried, you can apply the insecticide dust.

*Using insecticide dust can be very messy, so be sure to wear gloves and consider having a moist paper towel handy to clean up excess dust.

*To fill the Bellow Hand Duster, remove the black rubber stopper on top of the duster. Gently unscrew the white top of the CimeXa dust, then slowly tap the dust into the duster. Fill the duster up to halfway (or less), so there is plenty of room for the dust to move inside the duster.

*You may want to add a few small objects such as coins, pebbles, or marbles to prevent clumping inside the duster.

*Replace the black stopper so that it fits snugly into the opening. Remove the black rubber cap from the end of the extension wand. To apply dust, hold the duster upside down, so that the extension wand is on top, then gently squeeze the bellows between the thumb and fingers.

*Apply CimeXa Dust to voids and other hidden areas where it will not be disturbed, such as:

  • Behind electrical faceplates - Remove switch and electrical plates to gain access to wall voids.
  • Along baseboards - Treat any cracks in, above, or below baseboards where the tip of the duster will fit. Also treat under the edges of carpeting where you are able.
  • Headboards - Remove from the wall or dismantle to allow thorough treatment.
  • Drawers and furniture - Remove drawers and treat along tracks and support, as well as the corners and edges of the drawers. Also treat in any hollow areas such as bed frame tubing.
  • Box Springs and upholstered furniture - Check for tears in fabric backing or other hollow areas where the tip of the duster may fit, and treat these areas.
  • Behind wall fixtures - Remove fixtures from walls and treat behind each one.

*Be careful to avoid over-dusting. CimeXa Dust is very fine, and it only takes an extremely small amount to kill a bed bug.

*If dust escapes into open areas, simply wipe up the excess dust with a moist paper towel.

*Do not apply dust as a broadcast or in open areas where it will be moved around as it can become an irritant.

STEP 4 - TREAT CLOTHING AND LINENS

*Although this step does not NOT involve any chemicals in your kit, it is a crucial part of your treatment.

*Clothing, linens, or other fabric items in the infested rooms should be removed in bags, then washed and dried or dry cleaned.

*Do not return items to the infested areas until there has been no evidence of bed bugs for 30 days.

*Failure to make sure all items being returned to the room are bedbug free may cause a reinfestation.

*Objects that cannot be washed can be put into a bag or bin with a Nuvan Pro Strip to eliminate bedbugs. The items must stay sealed for 4 weeks in the bag or bin. If this treatment will not work for you because of the time it takes to eliminate the bed bugs you also have the option of using bed bug heater like the ZappBug Heater. Place your items inside the unit where they will be heated up to 155 degrees Fahrenheit. Within a few hours, all bed bugs will be killed.

STEP 5 - REPEAT! REPEAT! REPEAT!

*Repeat Step 1 (Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate) every  every 28-days or more frequently as needed.

*Repeat Step 2 (Bedlam Plus) every 7-10 days until no one is getting bitten and there is no further evidence such as live bugs, cast skins or fresh blood spots found. This is absolutely crucial! Depending on the severity of the infestation it can take a minimum of 7-8 weeks, including repeat treatments. Failure to be thorough can prolong the bed bug control process and can make it harder to eliminate them.

Peace of mind at long last!

    By No on 01/26/2015

    Verified Purchase

I am beyond grateful for this kit, which contains Temprid, exactly the same stuff my exterminator uses. Two of the three times he has claimed to spray my bed I returned home to find my headboard etc still intact--and still dusty. I had a sneaking suspicion also he did not do a proper job on my sofa and I was right--I stuck my camera into the frame (he told me no way there were bb in there), and saw movement. Out came the Bedlam Plus!! Found one dead bb soon after. Used the CimeXa in my outlets and in my bed crevices as well as sofa crevices. The duster works great. I do wish kit came with TWO CimeXas, though!! Have not used the Temprid or sprayer yet, but I will, soon. I'm still in denial about my $1000 exterminators chems trying to do their job. Truth is, I should never have trusted an undereducated, barely trained kid to know ir care what he was doing. He acted scared to be in my apartment, did only the baseboards, sprayed inside my dresser (supposedly but again the dust was undisturbed). As long as you educate yourself and use as directed here, you most certainly don't need a pco!! It's not to save money, it's to do it RIGHT. Great kit and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

    Finally seeing results

    By Amber on 02/15/2016

I have been struggling with money issues blah blah blah. But finally was able to order this. The bugs did not like when I sprayed them. Ha-ha. Separately used they work good but when treating a room using all the products together works very well along with vacuuming and tearing the room apart. Nightstands dressers vents everything has to be sprayed or powdered. I plan on re treating in 1-2 wks to be safe. I am ready for this nightmare to be over. Thanks for making affordable options available!!

    It works.

    By Suzie on 07/12/2016

I had a mild infestation with Bed Bugs. We only saw them in one room. I treated the whole house as if they were in every room because I have been told if they are in one room, they may well be in every room, you just haven't seen them yet. I steamed my furniture and sprayed it with the bedlam and then I treated my baseboards and carpet with the temprid. I also put encasement's on all mattresses and box springs. I then put climb ups on all of the bed post. This may seem like overkill to some but wanted to give this house the old one two punch. So far, I haven't seen any more bugs or been bitten, but it has been two weeks and I will spray again this week as a preventive measure. I am thankful I found this product.

Q
Hello,We found bedbugs 10 days back in one bedroom. yesterday we found 2 in other two rooms and 1 on couch.

Please suggest a type of bedbug spray we should use so we can get rid of it asap and for long term.

A
When treating for bedbugs, one product will not do the trick. It takes a combination of liquid, dust and aerosol insecticides for a full treatment to give you results.  Pyrethroid Resistant Bed Bug Control Kit is designed to treat 2-4 rooms in a home or apartment at least twice for bed bug infestations.  This kit is designed especially for treating infestations for which resistance may be of concern, such as in densely populated areas where bed bugs are a persistent problem. The kit contains several different products to treat all potential harborage sites. Different products are labeled for use in different places, so using a variety of products allows for the most thorough and cost effective treatment. With the Pyrethroid Resistant Bed Bug Kit contains 8 x 8mL single pack doses of Temprid SC Insecticide, 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs, 1 hand dusting tool, 4 x 17 oz. cans of Bedlam Plus Bed Bug Spray, and 1 pint of Steri-Fab bed bug spray, plus a DoMyOwnPestControl.com exclusive five page step-by-step guide. Q
What is the correct mixing ratio of the Temprid SC in the Pyrethroid Resistant Bed Bug Control Kit?

I was reading the information in the "full description & features" for this kit. On using Temprid SC, it says to use 16mL per gallon of water for the initial treatment, and then to go down to 8mL for the rest of the treatments. Am I understanding that correctly? Won't doubling the dosage make it too strong and actually repel the bed bugs, causing them to avoid the treated areas and scatter?

A

Per the Temprid SC product label, the correct application rate for bed bugs is 8-16 mL per gallon of water.  The higher application rate is typically recommended for the initial application or for heavier infestations in order to achieve a quicker knockdown and cleanout.  The only way the product would repel bed bugs and cause them to avoid the treated areas would be if it was applied at a heavier rate than what was recommended on the product label.

Q
What is the latest and best product to treat for bedbugs?
A

If you suspect you may be dealing with pyrethroid resistant bedbugs we would recommend using Crossfire. Crossfire is an indoor use only liquid, water-based insecticide that kills within 5 minutes of contact and lasting for up to 30 days after application. This non-staining product is designed to kill all of the different life stages of bed bugs, from eggs to adults, while producing no visible residue.

We have also put together a kit just for pyrethroid resitant bedbugs. Pyrethroid Resistant Bed Bug Control Kit. This kit provides a complete bed bug treatment in homes or apartments that contains 2 x 13 oz. bottles of Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate, 1 x 4 oz. bottle of Cimexa Dust for Bed Bugs, 1 hand dusting tool, 4 x 17 oz. cans of Bedlam Plus Bed Bug Spray, plus a DoMyOwnPestControl.com exclusive step-by-step guide.

It is also crucial to thoroughly Inspect the treatment area for possible bed bug harborages, and to follow all the Treatment steps, including follow-up treatments.
