  • Asked by Harold from Coshocton, Ohio

    Q
Will Q4 Plus kill deers tongue grass?
The deers tongue grows somewhat like nimblewill and spreads rapidly. Tenacity herbicide has no effect on it whatsoever. Is there herbicide that will control deers tongue?
    A

Q4 Plus is not labeled to control deers tongue grass.

The only thing we are aware of to get rid of deer tongue grass is a non selective such as Roundup QuikPRO. Otherwise, we recommend contacting your local extension office to see if they know of anything else,

  • Asked by Chevo from Burke, Va
    10/11/2016
    Q
How long after re-seeding my tall fescue lawn in Fairfax, VA may I apply Q4 Plus?
I applied Drive xlr8 herbicide to my one acre tall fescue lawn in Fairfax, VA. 10 weeks ago, but it did NOT kill all my crabgrass. On 9/15/16, I core aerated, re-seeded, and applied McGill Compost to my lawn. The new grass is growing well, but I still have few weeds (crabgrass). Since it has been nearly 30 days since I re-seeded my tall fescue lawn, can I apply Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide to kill the remaining weeds? Our current temps are 50s at night to 60s to 70s during the day. BTW, I've already purchased and received the Q4 from your store. Thanks!
    A

Per the product label for Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide you should delay application to grass seedlings until after the second or thrid mowing, or 28 days after emergence.

  • Asked by Shawn from Mill Hall, Pa

    Q
Will Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide kill orchard grass?
I just planted my new lawn and have orchard grass growing in it. I believe this came in the topsoil that I put down. The seed that I used was creeping red fescue, camas Kentucky bluegrass, Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass. If not what other product will take care of this problem?
    A

Q4 Plus Herbicide will not kill orchard grass. Unfortunately, we do not know of any selective herbicide that will kill orchardgrass without harming your desirable turfgrass.  It is usually recommended to spot treat the orchard grass as much as possible with a non-selective product like RoundUp QuikPro, and then replant in those areas in a couple of weeks when the orchard grass is gone.

    Q
Will Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide harm a lilac bush?
I have a large lilac bush that is surrounded by Canadian thistle. If I spay the thistle next to the lilac bush, will it hurt my lilac bush?
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can potentially cause harm to desired plants like lilac.  I would carefully spot spray areas near the lilac bush, and also wrap the lilac bush in a large garbage bag to protect it from any drift spray.

    Q
Can Q4 Plus be used to kill weeds in liriope or monkey grass
    A

Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled to be used over groundcovers or monkey grass so would not be recommended.  Depending on what you are treating for, a better option would be Fertilome Over the Top II. It is labeled to kill grassy weeds in lirope and various other ornamentals and ground covers.
