Product Overview

Ranger Pro with 41% Glyphosate (same active ingredient as Roundup) is a complete broad spectrum non-selective post-emergent professional herbicide. Ranger Pro is the generic of Roundup Pro, and is equivalent and just as effective as the name brand, only much less expensive. This generic roundup will kill most weeds and grasses. It is formulated as a water-soluble liquid with surfactant, therefore no additional surfactant is needed. Ranger Pro moves through the plant from the point of foliage contact to and into the root system. It is then absorbed into the soil and breaks down naturally, and therefore will not spread through the ground and kill neighboring plants.

Product Description

Ranger Pro is a postemergence, systemic herbicide with no residual soil activity. It gives broad-spectrum control of many annual weeds, perennial weeds, woody brush and trees. It is formulated as a water-soluble liquid containing surfactant and no additional surfactant is needed or recommended. It may be applied through standard equipment after dilution and mixing with water or other carriers according to label instructions.

Time to Symptoms:

Ranger Pro moves through the plant from the point of foliage contact to and into the root system. Visible effects are a gradual wilting and yellowing of the plant which advances to complete browning of above-ground growth and deterioration of underground plant parts. Effects are visible on most annual weeds within 2 to 4 days, but on most perennial weeds may not occur for 7 days or more. Extremely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow activity of this product and delay development of visual symptoms.

Stage of Weeds:

Annual weeds are easiest to control when they are small. Best control of most perennial weeds is obtained when treatment is made at late growth stages approaching maturity. See the “WEEDS CONTROLLED” sections of this label for specific weed rates.

Always use the higher product application rate in the range when weed growth is heavy or dense, or when weeds are growing in an undisturbed (non-cultivated) area. Reduced weed control may result from treating weeds with disease or insect damage, weeds heavily covered with dust, or weeds under poor growing conditions.

Mode of Action in Plants:

The active ingredient in this product inhibits an enzyme found only in plants and microorganisms that is essential to formation of specific amino acids.

Cultural Considerations:

Reduced control may result when applications are made to annual or perennial weeds that have been mowed, grazed or cut, and have not been allowed to regrow to the appropriate stage for treatment.

Rainfastness:

Heavy rainfall soon after application may wash this product off of the foliage and a repeat application may be required for adequate control.

Spray Coverage:

For best results, ensure spray coverage is uniform and complete. Do not spray foliage to the point of runoff.

No Soil Activity:

Weeds must be emerged at the time of application to be controlled by this product. Weeds germinating from seed after application will not be controlled. Unemerged plants arising from unattached underground rhizomes or rootstocks of perennials will not be affected by the herbicide and will continue to grow.

    Killing grass

    By John on 07/16/2010

    Verified Purchase

First of all, ordering this product was VERY easy and speedy. We used one and a half gallons for about an acre and a quarter. It worked beyond expectation. We checked after a week and the grass and weeds were all brown and dead. Our ratio was a quart to 24 gallons. We used a sprayer mounted on a 4-wheeler. We are extremely pleased.

    Basically a "generic" Round Up

    By John on 03/31/2011

    Verified Purchase

Shipping and packaging were without any problems. Entire transaction was very professional. The product is a very affordable version of Round Up. Round Up Pro is a 48.7% concentration where as Ranger Pro is 41%. The price advantage of Ranger Pro is 2.5 gallons for less than one gallon of Round Up Pro. The 41% is more than adequate for killing off virtually everything.

Q
Can Ranger Pro Herbicide be used in a playground area in our subdivision?

We have a 2910 sq ft playground area in our subdivision. We have mulch and want to add 5 more inches of mulch. We want to spray weed killer between the old and new layers of mulch. Can we do this safely in the children's play area?

A

Ranger Pro Herbicide can be used to kill actively growing weeds in mulch beds for playgrounds when applied per the product label instructions. Keep children and pets out of the area until the application has completely dried. Keep in mind, this product will only kill weeds that are actively growing and does not prevent weeds from germinating.

Applying a pre emergent such as Rezilon Pre Emergent Herbicide in late fall and then again in early spring would be effective to help prevent weeds from germinating and reducing overall weed growth. View the full product label for more information.

Q
Is Ranger Pro Herbicide harmful to pets if they were to eat grass/weeds after the product has dried for 4 hours?
A

Once the application of Ranger Pro Herbicide has completely dried, children and pets are allowed to resume normal activity in the area.

Animals are like humans and each can react differently to different chemicals. Therefore, we always recommend that if your pets consuming grass/weeds that have been treated with an herbicide, insecticide, etc is a concern, we recommend closely monitoring them and contact your Vet immediately if there are any signs of a reaction or sickness.

Per the SDS sheet, “Not expected to produce significant adverse effects when recommended use instructions are followed”.
