Expert response:
Rat X is a multi-feed bait, so rodents do have to consume quite a bit over time to get a lethal dose. You also want to be sure the eliminate any competing food sources when using Rat X. This bait is excellent when there is concern about non-target animals coming into contact with the bait, however, since it is not toxic to pets or people.

waste of money
By Cathy on 03/02/2015
Mice clearly ate it but it had absolutely no effect on them.
Expert response:
Because of the mode of action of Rat X, it is crucial to eliminate any competing food sources and to keep supplying fresh bait as long as the rodents will accept it. Mice will need to consume about 10-15 grams of Rat X to die, and death occurs in 3 to 5 days.

Rats love it !!!
By Joyce on 09/13/2016
Rats love this product. It doesn't harm your pets, plus it doesn't harm your rats. Have used two bags, have no food out where the rat is. Rat is in my house. For two months now. Have put behind fridge, under stove behind washer and dryer and he will not leave. He seems to love it. Would not buy again. Oh, he eats all of it up.

Tired of feeding mice/rats
By Deb on 10/31/2016
I keep refilling the bait trays and they empty them overnight eating every bit. Rat X bag is all most gone. I will buy another product. It's no wonder why they don't offer a phone number or guarantee on their packaging. They also state for "rat control" not eradication. If I wanted to be a rat wrangler I would get a cat. Don't waste your money.

didn't work
By Kathy on 11/05/2016
I think I just spent two weeks feeding all the local mice. I have more now than when I first started using the product.
Expert response:
Successful baiting with Rat X generally takes longer and much more product than with other baits. We would recommend continuing to supply bait as long as rodents are accepting it, making sure eliminate any other possible food and water sources that may be available to the rodents. So Far No Good

Rats have become an entire colony!
By Marta on 01/26/2017
I had a couple rats in my garage. I bought RatX thinking that would take care of the problem. I have gone thru the entire bag. They loved it! And now rats are in my garage, crawlspace, walls and attic! I hear them having parties everywhere! Did not work!
Expert response:
Thank you for your comments! You should plan to use at least 1.5-2 oz. of bait per placement, so if you are still seeing activity, then you would need to use significantly more bait. You should plan to keep a continuous supply of bait for at least 2 weeks, regardless of what kind you are using, when dealing with rodents. Keep in mind that you should also eliminate competing food and water sources, as well as seal up entrance points into the structure. We have additional tips in our Rat Treatment Guide here:

By Hanna on 12/31/2016
This would be a zero star review and if I had the option, I'd put it into negative stars. We eliminated food competition, gave this product a good solid month to work. However since these are basically salt pellets and not actual poison, it only FED the problem! DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF!

Alternative food source
By Kevin on 02/16/2017
I think Rat X may be the alternative food source. Have been refilling feed stations for over a month. They keep eating it but no dead rats, just more droppings. Not sure I want to invest in another bag of this.
Expert response:
Thank you for your feedback! It does take a lot of bait for Rat X to kill an individual rodent. We do recommend using traps indoors so that you can locate and remove dead rodents. You should also be sure to inspect the area for ways the rats are entering the structure so that you can exclude them. You can view additional tips and information in our Rat Treatment Guide here:

2 bags and a month later and more rats.
By Mlaiuppa on 05/31/2017
Six weeks and two bags later they're using it as their food source. They love the stuff. They're multiplying. This is useless. At $20 a bag you can't buy enough for them to eat to die. To breed, yes. But this does not work as advertised. It's more like feeding a growing pet colony of wild rats. I've had much more success with glue traps. Inhumane? Maybe. But at least they die and I know it. I'm looking into anticoagulants now. This natural organic stuff is a waste of time and money.

Rats in attic
By Brent on 12/04/2017
I have been putting out mounds of RatX in my attic (3 separate piles,15 pellets in each pile) for 10 days and they are still eating it......after 10 days!!! What's going on ??? Please help. Thanks
Expert response:
Thank you for your review. We apologize you have not received the expected results. However, due to RatX causing dehydration, it could take some time to kill. Mice and rats have stomach sensors that tells them when they are thirsty. When they eat this bait, it turns off their stomach sensors and it can no longer tell their brain to drink water. The rate at which this starts to work is 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of RatX per rat and 10-15 grams or 1/3 or 1/2 ounce per mouse so adding more piles and pellets would help. If you have any further questions please give us a call at 866-581-7378.

Forget about rat-x
By Ken on 11/30/2017
Forget about buying rat-x. Used to use the little d-con boxes and they were great. Tried rat-x and zero results! Followed all instructions and the mice are still around. Save your money!
Expert response:
Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry that you did not see the expected results using Rat X. One difference with this bait is that it does require rodents to feed on the bait longer and to consume more than some other more traditional baits, so if this is not ideal and you do not have concerns about pets or other non-target animals getting into the bait, then more traditional anti-coagulant or neurotoxin baits may be a better fit for you. Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance selecting products anytime.

RatX
By Michael on 12/18/2017
Expensive stuff for its ingredients. And rats do eat it. Like they eat wood, cement, and wiring. And if those sound worse than the ingredients of RatX, it's because they are! RatX does nothing to rats. Rats are bigger, smarter, stronger, and more resilient than mice. They can get out of any glue trap, and avoid snap traps. RatX may work on mice, but not on adult rats. Let's call it ScamX. You're the sucker.

RatX not work well if spilled animal feed is in environment
By Bonnie on 03/26/2017
I suspect this works well when you really can get rid of all competing food sources. However in a kennel situation there is the problem of spilled kibble when dogs are messy eaters and kibble staying in bowels for the dogs that are slow eating "snackers" so it is almost impossible to clear the environment of competing food sources. I was very hopeful because of its advertised "non-toxic to dogs, cats and children" properties. I have placed the RatX in places near the dogs but in spaces unavailable for dog access where I saw mouse activity. My MouseCubes are still catching apparently healthy mice and the RatX appears untouched.

Just Started
By Christine on 11/13/2017
I live in an apartment and the maintenance man dropped off this bag and he told me that he heard this stuff is great and it will get him. We have one pretty big mouse/rat (i think Norway House Rat) and at 1st the Maint. Man gave us small snap traps and he would take the bait and never get caught and only 1 time he set trap off. so now i have these pellets in a small plastic dish for him to get and so far nothing. I think i heard him in it last night at one point but does not look like its going down. I NEED to get rid of this thing! Ive read other peoples stories here and i too think i am just feeding him! Ugghhhh SO FRUSTRATED! Time for some real Big Snap Traps from T Rex!

So far so good....then
By Na on 12/17/2017
I have been up night after night hearing mice in my house. I have tried every trap and bait possible. The mice in my house would eat the bait and dodge the traps even. I finally found this product. I put it in three different locations in my house. The first couple of nights I did not hear a sound. I saw a mouse today that was just looking at me and dragging off fresh dinner that I had just prepared for me and my son. How much more do I need to put out?
Expert response:
Thank you for your review. We apologize you have not received the expected results. Rat X can be a little tricky to use and kill the infestation. Depending on the infestation you may need to put out more piles. The recommended rate for mice is 10-15 grams or 1/3 or 1/2 ounce per mouse into small bowls or feeding trays approximately 6 feet apart throughout the infested area. This type of bait causes dehydration so it could take a little while before you start seeing any reduction. Also if you have any competing food sources they could be eating those instead of the bait so be sure to put away anything and everything. If you have any further questions or comments please give us a call at 866-581-7378.

Total garbage
By Tom on 03/17/2019
Been using this stuff over a week. Mice come every night for a free meal and I'm pretty sure it's attracted other mice from the neiborhood. Bag is empty and not one dead mouse. They will miss the free feeding and I've created a mouse Golden Corral. Stuff is just salt. Should have known it would not work. Don't waste your money.

Don't Waste Your Money
By Richard on 07/04/2019
Please don't waste your money on this product. It doesn't work. I've been feeding a rat for 2-3 months and it keeps getting fatter and coming back for more. This stuff is as worthless as the bag it comes in. I purchased a rat poison feeder from amazon.com and that is what I use to feed this rat loving food to the rat that plagues me. This stuff just doesn't work so I'll say it again, Don't waste your money on this product.

By Some on 12/29/2021
This stuff is fake nonsense. My rat gobbled it up just like in other reviews with zero effect. The rat is still ruining everything in my house. Take note of the responses to negative reviews. They keep saying to just feed it more. Yeah well clearly it doesn't work. Also take note of the cookie cutter positive reviews. It's as if the same person wrote them all and "wrapped them up in a little bag".
