    Q
How would I apply Remedy Ultra for a stump application?
I have read that triclopyr is best to kill a sea grape stump. If I only have one stump that is about 6 inches in diameter, what is the best way to mix and apply? Could it simply be brushed on at full strength for one stump?
    A

To use Remedy Ultra for a cut stump treatment, you would cut the tree down to a stump and then treat the fresh cuts with Remedy Ultra Herbicide. For small volume applications, you would use 25-38.4 oz per gallon of water, being sure to get the outer layers and cambium of the stump. You will still need to remove the strumps and root systems physically after using herbicides to stop regrowth.

  • Asked by William from Sulphur Springs, Tx

    Q
How should I apply Remedy Ultra to kill black locust?
    A

Remedy Ultra Herbicide should be applied as a foliar, basal bark or cut stump application. The mixing ratio of Remedy Ultra Herbicide is 0.16 fl oz. per gallon of water. This is the application rate for foliartreatments. Be sure not to use more than 2 quarts per acre per year. Remedy Ultra Herbicide can be mixed with either water or diesel fuel depending on the application. Per the product label for Remedy Ultra Herbicide, for Low Volume Basal Bark Treatments:

"To control susceptible woody plants...with stems less than 6 inches in diameter, mix 20 to 30 gallons of Remedy Ultra in enough oil to make 100 gallons of spray mixture. Apply with a backpack or knapsack sprayer using low pressure and a solid cone or flat fan nozzle. Spray the basal parts of brush and tree trunks to a height of 12 to 15 inches from the ground in a manner which thoroughly wets the lower stem, including the root collar area, but not to the point of runoff."

This dilution rate would break down to 25.6 to 51.2 ounces of concentrate in enough oil to make 1 gallon of finished solution.

  • Asked by Richard from Comfort, Tx

    Q
How many ounces of Remedy Ultra per gallon of diesel to kill roots of aguerita and persimmon?
I have had a recent problem with rattlesnakes in an area infested with second growth aguerita and persimmon. Cleared aguerita and persimmon to the ground.
    A

Remedy Ultra Herbicide does list either aguerita or persimmon on the product label as controlled by it, so we apologize we are unable to provide a rate for this use.  You may want contact the manufacturer directly for further details to confirm if it would be used and a rate to do so.  DOW can be reached at at 800.992.5994

When you use diesel you also have to add an additional product: Prepare oil-water emulsions using diesel fuel, fuel oil, or kerosene plus and emulsifier such as Sponto 712 or Triton X- 100. Use a jar test to check spray mix compatibility before preparing oil-water emulsion sprays in the mixing tank.

Cut Stump Treatment: To control resprouting, mix 20 to 30 gallons of Remedy Ultra in enough oil to make 100 gallons of spray mixture. Apply with a backpack or knapsack sprayer using low pressures and a solid cone or flat fan nozzle. Spray the root collar area, sides of the stump, and the outer portion of the cut surface, including the cambium, until thoroughly wet, but not to the point of runoff. Spray mixture concentration should vary with the size and susceptibility of species treated. Apply anytime, including in winter months, except when snow or water prevent spraying to the ground line.

This breaks down to 25-38 oz of Garlon 4 per gallon of oil solution.

    Q
After it rains, what is the waiting period to apply Remedy Ultra Herbicide?
Is there a waiting period after it rains? It has been raining for 2 days here. I'm doing cut stump treatments with 20% remedy in crop oil. I'm concerned that the water on the stump will reduce control.
    A

According to the label, when using Remedy Ultra Herbicide for a Cut Stump Treatment you can apply at anytime, including in winter months, except when snow or water prevent spraying to the ground line. If the stump has been exposed to the rain, then for best results you need to make a fresh cut and then make your application. It would be best if you make the application at least 24 hours before you're expecting any more rain.
