  • Asked by Jorge from Hockely, Tx
    04/16/2016
    Q
What can I use to get rid of Bermuda grass in my St. Augustine grass?
    A

Unfortunately, Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is really nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the St. Augustine as well.  In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with a Roundup-type product to kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas. We do have some professional Roundup products available on our website here.

    Q
Will RoundUp Pro Concentrate kill bamboo?
    A

You can use RoundUp Pro Concentrate at the highest listed usage rate to help eliminate bamboo. You will be required to cut the bamboo down to a short stump and then apply the RoundUp Pro. It can take several applications to achieve the desired results. You should contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to see if you will be required to till your yard or if you can seed and fertilize only.

  • Asked by Cliff from Troy
    04/02/2017
    Q
What should I use for total lawn kill?
I am about to residents my entire lawn with new sentipide grass and I have extensive weed problem as well as bermuda grass invation. There is also some st. Augustin grass among the existing lawn. How can I kill everything in my lawn to get a new healthy start and how long will I need to wait before I lay the new grass. I plan on adding topsoil before the new grass goes down
    A

We recommend using a glyphosate based product over the entire lawn if you are looking to start with bare ground. You can usually reseed or lay sod within 14 days of the application. You should do the glyphosate application after the existing grass has greened up for the best efficacy. Round Up Pro should work well for your needs.
