    Q
Does Sevin treat black spot on roses?
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules is an insecticide and will not treat for black spot on roses. We like to recommend Bayer Advanced 3 in 1 to treat for black spot on Roses. This way you have your disease, and insect control in one.

    Q
Can Sevin granules be used in a new vegetable garden?
I'm planting a bit late for here, and in digging the holes for an assortment of veggies in this 6x8' garden, I found a grub. It's starting to get cooler here, though it was 80F today. How do I apply the granules around the perimeter? I used Corey's Slug Death around the perimeter of my garden in SoCal to treat slugs and it worked well. My plants are only in the ground for 1-7 days.
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules can be used around certain edibles. It is recommended that you check the label for the specific time frames in which this product can be used and for the edibles on which it is safe to apply. Keep in mind that Sevin Insecticide is only active for a short time and will not offer long-term grub control.

    Q
How long do the Sevin Granules usually take to kill off ticks?
    A

The amount of time it takes to eliminate ticks when using Sevin Granules will depend on the health of the insect. It generally takes about a week to see results. Be sure to water the product in after application to activate the granules.

    Q
Can i apply Sevin Granules in winter months to get a head start on control?
    A
You are certainly welcome to apply the Sevin Granules before you actually start seeing signs of pests arriving in your area when the season warms up. We would not see it beneficial to put it down if temps are still regularly freezing or if you have snow on the ground.

    Q
    Earthworm Killer?
The store that sold me this product "promised" that this Sevin Granules would kill the earthworms and grubs that have attracted several moles in my yard. Please confirm this for it's not mentioned on the label.Regards,
    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules are not labeled to killl earthworms but does work for white grubs. There are no products on the market in the USA that are labeled for earthworms as they are largely beneficial creatures. There are a few known control methods that include cutting back on irrigation so that the worms will go deeper into the soil for the moisture they require to survive or fertilizing your lawn after a heavy rainfall which will eliminate some of the population.

    Q
Does Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules kill termites?
    A

Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules is not labeled for termites. Treating the surface of the soil with a liquid or granule in your lawn will not prevent or keep termites away. Termites in their natural environment are actually beneficial insects and most homeowners have them in their yard without ever knowing it as everything is in balance. If you know where a particular colony or activity of termites in the soil is in a particular area you can always drench the soil in that spot with a product like Talstar P.

    Q
Why can't you put Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules down during rain?
    A

Sevin Lawn Insecticide Granules can not be applied during rainfall because the rain could cause the product to clump and you will not get a consistent application.  The wind and rainfall could also cause the granules to not stay where you have applied them rendering your application ineffective.

    Q
Can liquid Seven be applied to lawn for tick control?
I am removing 3-10 ticks per day from my dogs. New home backyard was beyond overgrown. All the brush is now cut back but there must be a tick infestation in the grass. Can I safely use liquid Seven in a sprayer to treat the lawn? When can my dogs play in the treated area again? Thanks.
    A

Sevin Concentrate cannot be applied as a broadcast to lawns. Sevin Granules can be applied to lawns for ticks. It will be safe for Pets to re enter after the treated area has dried.

    Q
Flea Issues in the yard from neighborhood dogs!
I have five dogs, they are all fenced in or live in my home. I am a responsible dog owner and my dogs DO NOT get out, however i live in a neighborhood where people find it ok not to fence their dogs in thus turning my lawn into the neighbrohood bathroom. This also brings pests like fleas. I use frontline but when i allow my two inside dogs to go outside in the front yard to use the restroom they bring fleas back in. I bought Sevin yard granules but my boyfriend and i have argued because he didn't water the yard in....is this going to cause me trouble or hurt my animals??? Thanks so much for your time!!
    A
Watering the Sevin granules in is what activates the granules. If it is going to rain close to the time you are applying the granules that will be fine too. Failure to water in the granules can lead to treatment failure because the chemical cannot be released from the granule and will not be available to the pests. The dry granules usually fall into the thatch layer of the grass and will largely not be available to pets and people walking over the surface so they should not pose any danger to you or your pets. Everyone should stay off of the treated lawn after the granules have been watered in and should stay off of the grass until the area has had a chance to dry.

  • Asked by Albert from Grosse Pointe Farms

    Q
How long after application of Sevin Insecticide Granules can I begin spreading grass seed?
    A

Since the Sevin Insecticide Granules do not have any herbicidal properties, you could apply grass seed anytime after applying the insecticide granules. We would just recommend that if you are going to aerate or do other soil modification, you probably will want to do that before applying your insecticide or wait until several days after so that you do not disturb the application.

    A

Sevin Insecticide Granules will not dissolve in water to apply as a spray. Instead, they should be applied with a spreader and then watered in with rainfall or irrigation. If you prefer to apply carbaryl with a sprayer, you could use Sevin Liquid Concentrate.

    Q
Is the Sevin Insecticide Granules safe to use with horses?
I have a new horse that is infested with ticks.. I want to treat the area it is in to kill them as i have not had a tick problem on my property. Is it safe to use where it eats?
    A
No, the Sevin Insecticide Granules is not safe to use around horses or their feed. However, we do have EcoTreat which is labeled to kill ticks and is completely safe and does not have any re-entry restrictions. It is best to spray EcoTreat twice in a 7 day period and then it will last 4-6 weeks. Casual rainfall or irrigation will not wash it away. It can even be used as a tick dip on animals.

    Q
I currently use DeltaGard. Any pros or cons with switching to Sevin granules instead?
Any pros or cons with switching to Sevin granules instead? I noticed Sevin is cheaper.
    A
Deltagard has a broader label that covers more insect pests than Sevin. Deltagard also lasts for several months at a time where as Sevin granules may need to be reapplied every couple of weeks to maintain control. You should also note that Sevin granules come in a 10 lb bag and Delta Gard comes in a 20 lb bag so the prices are pretty even when compared pound for pound.
