Product Overview

Specticle FLO is a pre-emergent that controls all major weeds with superior residual control of crabgrass, poa annua, annual sedge, and goosegrass. The residual activity of Specticle FLO lasts for up to 8 months all while using less active ingredients than competitve products.

Specticle FLO is a selective, preemergence alkylazine herbicide for use on warm season turfgrasses. It is not intended for post emergent application. Specticle FLO controls many annual grasses including crabgrass, goosegrass, annual bluegrass, annual sedges, and broadleaf weeds in turf, ornamentals (residential), hedgerows, hardscapes, Christmas trees, and conifers. Specticle FLO can be used only on established turf in areas including golf courses (roughs, tees, and fairways), sod farms, sports fields, lawns, both home and commercial, parks and cemeteries. Specticle FLO controls weeds by reducing the emergence of seedlings through inhibition of cellulose biosynthesis (CB Inhibitor). Necrosis or yellowing may be observed if the herbicide is applied to herbaceous tissue such as leaves and green stems of susceptible plants. Specticle FLO does not control tubers, rhizomes, bulbs, corms, existing rootstocks, and woody vegetation.

The herbicide needs to be activated prior to weed germination for most effective control. For maximum activity against germinating weeds, Specticle FLO requires rainfall or irrigation prior to weed germination. For use on sod farms, golf courses, and non-crop areas (excluding lawns), do not apply within 25 feet of ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands, and habitat containing aquatic and semi-aquatic plants.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

SPECTICLE FLO is a selective, pre-emergent alkylazine herbicide. SPECTICLE FLO provides extended residual control of many annual grasses including crabgrass, goosegrass, and annual bluegrass, as well as annual sedges, and broadleaf weeds in turf, landscape ornamentals, and hardscapes. SPECTICLE FLO also demonstrates limited early post-emergent activity against some weeds, including annual bluegrass, crabgrass, and oxalis.

SPECTICLE FLO is also used only on established turf in areas including golf courses (roughs and fairways), sod farms, sports fields, residential and commercial lawns, parks, and cemeteries.

SPECTICLE FLO controls weeds by reducing the emergence of seedlings through inhibition of cellulose biosynthesis (CB Inhibitor). Necrosis or chlorosis may be observed if the herbicide is applied to herbaceous tissue such as leaves and green stems of susceptible plants including sensitive ornamentals. SPECTICLE FLO does not control plants emerging from tubers, rhizomes, bulbs, corms, existing rootstocks, and woody vegetation. SPECTICLE FLO suppresses the development of some additional hard-to-control weeds.

SPECTICLE FLO needs to be activated prior to weed germination for most effective control. For maximum activity against germinating weeds, SPECTICLE FLO requires rainfall or irrigation prior to weed germination.

SPECTICLE FLO is a highly active herbicide that provides effective weed control when applied to the soil around many field grown woody ornamentals. SPECTICLE FLO may damage sensitive plants, if the product is allowed to remain in contact with foliage. Carefully apply SPECTICLE FLO in strict accordance to the label.

Non-staining, low odor product that controls over 75 different grassy and broadleaf weeds.

Q
Seeding after specticle flo. How long before rye can be seeded?
A
The wait time between a pre-emergent such as Specticle FLO & overseeding is a season. For example if you apply it in the fall, you do not want to seed till the spring. Or if you seed in the fall, you cannot spray till spring

Q
Can you mix Celsius wg with Specticle ?
A
The Celsius WG Herbicide label states the following: If this product is to be tank-mixed with other products, compatibility should be tested prior to mixing. To test for compatibility, use a small container and mix a small amount (0.5 to 1 qt) of spray, combining all ingredients in the same ratio as the anticipated use. If any indications of physical incompatibility develop (precipitation, settling, changes in color), do not use this mixture for spraying. Indications of incompatibility may occur within 5-15 minutes after mixing. Read and follow the label of each tank mix product used for precautionary statements, directions for use, geographic and other restriction.  Always check the label on the product you're inquiring about mixing with the Celsius, as it will have instructions regarding tank mixing with other products.  Always follow the more restrictive of the labels.

Q
Can Specticle FLO be used on Centipede and Carpetgrass lawn?
A

Specticle FLO is only labeled for use on Warm Season Turfgrasses only such as Bermudagrass, Zoysiagrass, Centipedegrass, St. Augustine, Buffalo, and Bahiagrass. The product label does not list Carpetgrass as a tolerant turf type therefore we would not recommend using on Carrpetgrass or without doing a small test application to see if your lawn would be tolerant. You can also contact the manufacturer, Bayer for confirmation at 1-800-331-2867.

Q
Are there temperature restrictions when applying Specticle Flo liquid?

I know some post-emergent herbicides have restrictions such as: do not apply when temperatures are above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I understand Specticle Flo is a pre-emergent. However, we live on the gulf coast of southern Alabama and always have to be cautious of temperature restrictions. Are there any restrictions other than cautions with wind?

A

Specticle FLO does not have a specific temperature restriction, however we recommend applying in the early morning or late in the evening when temperatures are coolest for the day (between 65 to 85 degrees). You do want to make sure you are keeping applications a good distance from water.

You can also refer to the label for further restrictions.

Q
Can Specticle FLO be applied to a bermuagrass lawn that is overseeded every October with perennial ryegrass?
A

No, Specticle FLO should not be applied on annual and perennial ryegrass or on bermudagrass overseeded with ryegrass. Per the product label, provide an untreated buffer zone of at least 15 ft between overseeded bermudagrass and treated areas.

Fahrenheit Herbicide may be an alternative options for pre emergent control of listed weeds. Bermudagrass may be treated with broadcast applications prior to overseeding. Allow a minimum of 2 months (60 days) between broadcast application to established turf and overseeding with ryegrass. Please refer to the Fahrenheit Herbicide product label for a list of weeds controlled and application rates.

Q
Why do you not restock Specticle FLO?

DoMyOwn indicates this is no longer made, but other vendors have this & a call to Bayer indicates Specticle FLO is still manufactured & is one of their best products. Please restock

A

We apologize for any confusion with the verbiage on the website. Specticle FLO is a product we no longer carry due to agency restrictions . We do carry Marengo Herbicide that contains the same active ingredient.

Q
How long before Specticle FLO can be applied to newly installed Tif Turf Bermuda Sod?

The maker says to wait a year for all pre emergent apps so the roots can take hold. I didn't wait a year before apply Dimension and other pre emergent. I'm wondering if Specticle has a time frame on when it can be applied to new sod.

A

The residual of the active ingredient Indaziflam in soil is longer than Dithopyr, the active ingredient in Dimension therefore applying before the recommended 16 months advised time frame could inhibit, slow or damage the growth of the bermuda sod.

Since we no longer carry Specticle FLO, we would recommend contacting Bayer directly at 1-866-99-BAYER for your special application question.

Q
Mix Roundup in conjunction with Specticle-Flo

I see where you can mix with insecticide, but can you use with another herbicide for even quicker kill. And should this be mixed first before the spectacle?

A

Specticle FLO should be able to be mixed with Roundup. We advise you conduct a small jar test to make sure they mix well together and follow the most restrictive label for both products.

Q
What will neutralize Specticle FLO?

Just got spectacle on about a 2 ft strip of green, looking to prevent damage.

A

If you applied an herbicide like Specticle FLO on an area that is not tolerant of the herbicide, then you will want to water the area very well and avoid other stress on those plants. If you have activated charcoal on hand, then you can use that immediately after application to help neutralize the herbicide, although this usually has to be done very quickly to have any effect. If the non-target plants are stressed but may recover, you may be able to use Renova to help them recover.

Q
Does Specticle FLO kill Bermuda grass greens?

Can this be used for pre emergent goose grass treatment on golf course Bermuda grass greens?

A

Specticle FLO is a pre-emergent only and would not harm turfgrass when used as directed on the product label.  That being said, the label does specify: Do not apply SPECTICLE FLO to golf course greens, tees, or collars.
