Product Overview

SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate contains the same active ingredients as the larger SpeedZone EW Broadleaf Herbicide for Turf in gallon and 2.5 gallon sizes.

Speedzone is an excellent selective post-emergent herbicide with superior cool-weather performance and can be used on established cool and warm-season grasses for common and troublesome weeds in turf-grass such as spurge, pennywort, dandelion, and white clover. Evidence of injury can be seen within hours of application, and plants can die in 7 to 14 days. Safe to apply on Kentucky bluegrass, annual bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, red or fineleaf fescue, creeping and colonial bentgrass (excluding golf greens), and mixtures of cool-season species in noncropland (Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue, smooth bromegrass, and orchardgrass). Uses include institutional, ornamental, and residential sites, sod production, and noncropland (rights-of-way, roadsides, medians, airports, and military installations). Spray solution must be above pH 5 and below pH 8.

I have tried just about everything to knock out Creeping Charlie in my lawn. Speedzone did it with ease. The results were noticed within days of the first application. It is an amazing product.

    Well worth the money!

    By Travis on 05/06/2011

Used and most of the weeds in my lawn were dead the next evening. It took just a couple days on the clover, but it's dead too!!!! Much better than round up and other brands I've used in the past that had little or not effect. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to get rid of weeds!!

    Speedzone Lawn Weed Killer

    By Steve on 04/02/2012

    Verified Purchase

This is the only product I have ever used that is effective in low temperatures. It gives me the ability to kill weeds when they first appear in the Spring instead of having to wait for warm weather to be effective

    Good product

    By Grey on 05/23/2012

Great product for treating majority of broadleaf weeds and great amount of product if you don't need 1 gallon size. I blanket sprayed at 1.6 oz per 1000 sq. ft. I could see results next day. On the 4th day black medic, clover, speedwell, dandelion are all curled up and brown. Will see the end result and if there are any survivors in 2 weeks.

Q
star of bethlehem

The label says SpeedZone broadleaf herbicide will kill star of bethlehem which is rampant in my city backyard. I need information on spot killing each plant. I do not want to broadly spray over a large area at one time. I prefer to use a spray bottle with a small mixture. I am not sure what proportions to use. I did try a test on about 6 small clumps-i cut off the tops, leaving a good 5 inches to allow for a clearer view of the plant and limit the amount that would spray out onto the yard. I put an open-topped box around each plant and sprayed each one with about1/4 cup water to 1 cup Speedzone. The greenery died completely in a few days, but will the damn bulbs be killed as well? It's a weed that spreads too easily. Each bulb produces 7 bulblets, and each bulblet produces 7 more. The flowers, if allowed to bloom, make seeds that spread the plant even further. Speedzone may be my only hope of removal if I know how to use it correctly, especially the concentration.

A

SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate is not labeled to control star of Bethlehem plants. This plant is in the lily family, which means it has very persistent bulbs that essentially need to be dug out to completely remove them from an area. In a small lawn, some folks will dig up and fully till the area before reseeding or sodding. Herbicides can kill the green tissue that comes up, but it will not kill the bulbs.

Using more product than is recommended on the product label will not make an herbicide work better or faster. That is only going to increase risks to you and to your desirable grass.

Q

Q
Kill Mondo grass in zoysia

Will Speedzone kill mondo grass in Zoysia? If not do you have another product that does?

A
SpeedZone Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate is not labeled to control grass weeds in lawns. Fusilade II when mixed with a surfactant says when foliar applications are made to mondo grass harm can occur, however there isn't anything selective designed to control mondo grass growing within another desirable grass like zoysia. The only other option would be hand pulling/digging the individual plants out, or carefully spot treating with roundup on the mondo leaves.
