Product Overview

Copper Stuf-fit is a unique exlusion material that prevents pesky rodents from entering your home or office building. The Copper Stuffit is a copper mesh wool material that is rust-proof and stain-proof. Stuff it into openings around pipes or other holes and cracks in the structure and keep rats, mice, birds and other wildlife out. Because of the way the mesh is woven, it is very difficult for rodents to chew through it. Stuf-fit works best in holes and cracks around 2 inches in diameter. Larger holes should be repaired and sealed permanently. Each roll is 6 inches wide, double folded and comes in either 20 ft. or 100 ft. long rolls.

    Smart product. Inspector Approved!

    By Inspector7 on 09/25/2011

Copper mesh is clean and easy to work with. I've run my own home inspection business for 12 years. This is a big step up from stuffing steel wool in holes only to see it rust away in a few years and stain. Just be sure as with all copper, that it doesn't come in direct contact with galvanized metal flashings or pipes.

Not One Mouse Since Installing Mesh

    By Barbara on 12/08/2010

It works. The mesh is very soft and pliable so it molds well to whatever crevice or space there is.

Easy to use and cuts easily. Used it on corners where vinyl siding come together to ward off mice. Insulate with spray foam insulation as a final step.

    100' is too much?

    By Frank on 07/24/2011

I guess my house is smaller than I thought. I ordered 100' roll of STUF-FIT knowing I'd have some left, but I used less than half. I don't know if I didn't "STUF-FIT" too tight or too loose. Instructions (next time) might help. I must have put enough into the weep holes though because the spiders and other crawlies haven't found their way in yet. Cuts easy. Packs easy, too. Overall, well pleased. If I was a nice guy, I'd offer to do my neighbors' houses with the leftovers, but I'm not.

STUF-IT is a pretty clever idea. You can apply it in minutes, does not leave a mess and seems to work.

Q
When installing a spray foam and STUF-FIT Copper Mesh behind siding, which should I do first? The spray foam then copper mesh or copper mesh then spray foam?

Do I install the copper mesh while it's still tacky, or when it's dry? I heard that you apply spray foam, then copper mesh, then sealant.

A

We recommend adding a little foam in the hole/gap, then shoving the STUF-FIT Copper Mesh into the hole/gap areas to imbed the copper mesh into the foam. Once you’ve completed filled the gap/hole with desired amount of copper mesh, follow up with adding addtional foam around and infront of the mesh to completely fill the gap.

Q
Can STUF-FIT Copper Mesh be applied between trees to protect squirrels?

I googled how to protect squirrels from hawks. I had some trees removed from my property and now I have two hawks that are leaving scars on all the squirrels I've been feeding. I'm just looking for a way to protect the squirrels that I feared from these hawks.

A
STUF-FIT Copper Mesh is intended to be stuffed into small holes, and then it is usually sealed with a hard filler such as expansion foam.  It is not recommended for use spread between trees or in open areas.

We would recommend contacting a local Wildlife Expert for information on how to protect squirrels.

Q
Will Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh keep out sewer roaches?
A

Stuf-Fit Copper Mesh would not be small or fine enough to keep sewer roaches out of an area. If they are coming into the home from city sewer lines, you will want to reach out to your local county officials to see what steps are being taken to control them on the city/county level. You can always safely use a product like Nibor-D to mix with water and flush down toilets and drains as it is a natural product and will coat the food and debris the roaches are feeding on. You can also do this if you have a septic tank. If the roaches are already infesting the home and you need to eliminate them, we would recommend going with one of our Roach Control Kits. You can see how to use the kits by following our guide on How to Treat for Roaches, which includes step by step instructions as well as videos.

Q
Will STUF-FIT Copper Mesh deter woodpeckers from making holes on siding?
A

STUF-FIT Copper Mesh will not deter Woodpeckers. Most of the time woodpeckers are attacking your home because it is finding food under your siding, or insects. Sometimes applying a liquid insecticide, like our Talstar product in the area where the bird is doing damage, will kill any pests behind the siding and therefore if there is no more food, the bird will go elsewhere. You can try other non-spraying methods by placing reflective tape in the area or a fake owl or other bird of prey to deter the woodpecker.
