    Q
Is Talpirid worm bait poisonous to dogs?
    A

Talpirid, when used directed on the product label, will be applied to areas that will for the most part be inaccessible to non-target animals.  It will be poisonous to them if they do directly ingest the bait though and there is no antidote if this occurs.

    Q
What do I do if my dog got ahold of one of the Talpirid BAIT?
My dog dug into one of the tunnels and had one of the worms in her mouth, I pulled it out but now I'm wandering if it could've hurt her? She didn't digest it but it was on her mouth. Just want to make sure she'll be ok
    A

Talpirid BAIT can harm or kill a dog if they have ingested enough of them.  If the one was not ingested she should be ok but you should always contact your vet for the best advice on what to look for and if any issues come up.

  • Asked by Mark
    06/29/2017
    Q
How many milligrams of Bromethalin in each Talpirid BAIT worm? I have a 50-lb. dog. Is it safe to use this product?
    A

Each Talpirid BAIT worm weighs 5 grams and contains .025% Bromethalin.  A 50 lb. dog would have to eat multiple worms in order to ingest a fatal dose.  That being said, we do recommend preventing pets from digging the worms up and only using the worms in active runways so the moles are more likely to get it then a pet.

  • Asked by Francesca from Acton

    Q
Can Talpirid BAIT harm other wildlife?
i have wild bunnies in my yard. will the mole worms kill them if they eat it? will it affect all the ground around where it is placed?
    A

Talpirid BAIT is to be put into the burrows where the moles are traveling and not just applied to above ground areas.  This application will prevent poisioning of other wild life animals including the bunnies in your yard.  However, there is no guarentee that it wont harm the bunnies if they were to go into the burrows and eat the worms.  Be cautious of where you apply the bait.  The Talpirid BAIT will not harm the surrounding ground where they are applied.  Please follow the product label for proper application and handling of this bait.

  • Asked by Scottie from Madison, Ms
    01/03/2017
    Q
Are Talpirid BAIT worms harmful to dogs?
I have two dogs 14 and 18 pounds. Would they be prone to dig up the worms? Do the worms have an odor that would cause them to try to dig them up?
    A

Talpirid Bait is safe for pets if used as directed. There is no odor that would cause them to dig them up. In most cases, the moles that consume the bait will die under ground in their tunnels eliminating the worry that animals or other predatory animals will eat the carcasses.

  • Asked by Jim from Mill Creek

    Q
What would you recommend for mole control application in front yard grass?
I was thinking of using Lesco Bandit insecticide .5% active.
    A

We do not sell Lesco brand products, however insecticides aren't useful unless you are treating for grubs or another Mole food source. We would recommend to use Talpirid Bait to use directly into active Mole tunnels. Read our Mole Treatment Guide for further information.

  • Asked by Charlene from Kentwood, La
    09/25/2016
    Q
Is there secondary poisoning with Talpirid BAIT?
    A

Talpirid, when used directed on the product label, will be applied to areas that will for the most part be inaccessible to non-target animals. In most cases, moles that consume the bait will die under ground in their tunnels, eliminating the worry that cats or other predatory animals will eat the carcass. Most well fed pets such as cats do not consume dead animals that they find, instead they tend to "play" with it. An animal the size of a cat would have to consume many dead moles for there to be any concern of secondary poisoning.

  • Asked by Bill from Mars, Pennsylvania

    Q
Can you cut the Talpirid Bait worms?
    A

The Talpirid Mole Bait is meant to be used whole. We do not recommend cutting the worms into pieces because you may wind up cutting the bait into pieces that are not large enough to deliver a fatal dose of the poison to the moles. As long as the tunnels are active and you are following the Talpirid product label instructions, you should have success getting rid of the moles with this product.

    Q
What methods and/tools do I need to effectively use Tapilrid?
I had a professional treat my yard for moles using Tapilrid. He used a rod to puncture the tunnel and then to insert the worms. Is there a special shape to the end of the rod?
    A
Talpirid Mole Bait is one of our best sellers for mole control in your lawn. It is a worm shaped mole bait that mimics the mole's natural food. To achieve maximum effect, Talpirid Mole Bait should only be placed in areas used habitually by moles for feeding.  There is no specific shape of rod end if needed to puncture. Try to leave the area undisturbed as possible. Five (5) to 7 days after bait application, check for mole activity using the same procedure for determining initial activity. Return 48 to 72 hours later and retreat all active runs. 1 Talpirid box (20 worms) is enough for two typical treatments Bait in unopened sealed box will last up to 1 year in controlled environment. Once opened, use within 15 days.

What product can I use to control moles in my yard?

One Talprid mole bait worm contains a lethal dose and can kill in 24 hours. One box of Talpirid contains 20 worms, enough for two typical treatments (sufficient bait to kill several moles).

  • Asked by John from Ormond Beach, Fl

    Q
How do I get rid of and keep moles out of my yard?
Just ready to lay 7000 sq ft of new floratam st Augustine sod in Ormond Beach , Fl. Noticed mole tunnels beginning to develop over last few weeks. Need to get rid if them, and then keep them out.
    A

There are many different ways to treat for moles. Please check out our Mole Control Page. One of the more effective means of mole control is using Talpirid Bait. One Talprid mole bait worm contains a lethal dose and can kill in 24 hours.

When you have mold activity in your yard it can in part be due to a plentiful food supply. Moles will feed on grubs, worms and other similar insects living in your turf. Many people in conjunction with using products designed to either trap, kill, or repel moles, will use a product like Dylox to kill the grubs and insects the moles are feeding on. By removing their food source it helps deter them from your yard. For full information on how to eradicate moles from your residence, see our section on Mole Control.
