There is no valid reason to mix Suspend Polyzone and Talstar P together. Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and Suspend Polyzone already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas, prolonging the infestation.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide would not be recommended for use if you need to treat wood directly. It only sits on the surface of wood and would not penetrate. It used to be used as a perimeter treatment to the soil in a trench around the home until non repellent products like Termidor SC were developed. For treating wood directly, a better option would be Bora-Care, either sprayed or painted onto the rafters. We have great guides for treating both subterranean and drywood termites that would be helpful to review as well.
Talstar should be used early to mid season to control the larvae of crane flies. This application should be made between August-February during times when the ground is not frozen. If treatments are made in March-April, they may only provide supression. You can consult with your local cooperative extension office for details on timing of application in your area specifically.
Once mixed, Talstar P (Talstar One) should be used within 24 hours. 1 ounce in 1 gallon will cover approx 1k square feet. It's recommeneded to treat the interior and exterior all at the same time so that you can have uniform coverage. Please be sure to read the product label for information on the approriate places to treat both inside and outside.
Talstar P (Talstar One) is labeled for a wide variety of small flying insects including gnats, midges and other small biting flies and should help reduce the amount of midges on your property. Be sure to spray the areas where you have noticed the midges landing or resting as Talstar will only eliminate those insects that land on treated areas. Please refer to the product label for mixing and application instructions
Talstar P (Talstar One) is manufactured in the US by FMC. They are located in New York.

A hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer would be the preferred method of application for using Talstar P, a sponge would be not recommended. When treating around doors and windows you will want to spray around the frame of the windows themselves and where the windows slide past each other when opening You would not need to spray the glass to get an effective treatment but can spray screens if needed.
Talstar P are one of the most effective chinch bug treatments on the market. Chinch bugs infest the base of grass plants and are often found in the thatch layer. Chinch bugs can be one of the most difficult pests to control in grasses and the higher applications rates will be required to control populations that contain both nymphs and adults during the summer. It may also be necessary to remove the thatch layer if it exceeds 1 inch in thickness to allow the Talstar to penetrate down to the soil.
If you have a few small spots the St. Augustine runners might fill it in this season (of course water, fertilizer, and lots of sunshine helps). If large portions of the lawn were damaged it will likely be late spring or later of next year before the lawn recovers. Very heavily damaged areas may need to be resodded.
Yes Talstar P can be safely used around pets as long as you follow the label instructions; all pets need to be out of the area while application is being made and they can return as soon as the application is dry.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide is a great safe product for general pest control both in and around the home. It dries clear, has no odor, is non-staining and non-irritating and can be used on lawns, bushes, ornamentals, trees and around the foundation of the home, as well as entry points like windows and doors. It will control over 100 different insects, including mosquitoes, flies, and spiders. It will typically last 30-90 days outdoors and at least 90 indoors along baseboards and cracks and crevices. Its safe for children and pets once dry and is very cost effective.
Talstar P can be used to help control cluster flies indoors and outdoors. If the cluster flies have already made their way indoors, they will be harder to control because they usually hide in a wall void or other inaccessible area and are only visible when the house warms up. If the cluster flies are in an attic or drop ceiling or other dark area, a fly light would do a great job controlling the population. Using small fly lights such as the Fly Web in the house would also help to catch the flies. Spray Talstar P directly on baseboards, window frames, door frames, and places where utilities (pipes, wires, cables) enter in to the building and any other crack, crevice or gap where insects can enter.
