You can help prevent gnats from entering you home by spraying a barrier application of a product like Talstar, Tempo, Demand, or Suspend, paying special attention to window frames, window screens, door frames, and cracks and crevices that may be used as points of entry. A screen with a very fine mesh (smaller than 16mesh) will help prevent entry. Additionally it may be helpful to keep ceiling fans and window fans on at high speeds to keep insects out of small areas. You may want to look over our article on Getting Rid of Gnats for more information.
If gnats have already entered your home and you need immediate control use Microcare, P.I. Aerosol, Cy-Kick Aerosol or EcoPco ACU. These products offer fast knockdown and kill of flying insects giving you immediate relief.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide can be used as a spray for general pests over the trench as the termites would not be affected by it since they are below the soil. It will have no effect on the treated soil. We have a great guide for treating mosquitoes here.
Yes, Talstar P can be used for both ticks and mosquitoes.
Neither ExciteR or Talstar are true repellents to keep insects away. The area will only be slightly repellent for maybe a day after an application with these. Talstar is designed more to provide a long residual to continue to kill those insects that contact a treated area. Mosquito Barrier is an option that can be repellent for up to 24 hours or up to 30 days.
Since Talstar P is labeled for use indoors as a crack and crevice spray, you could potentially use it to spot treat in a drop ceiling, however this product is not labeled for carpet beetles. We recommend adding an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) when treating for carpet beetles, such as NyGuard IGR. You could also use a ready-to-use product like NyGuard Plus which has both an insecticide and an IGR in one product. A better choice for use in the drop ceiling may be an insecticide dust, though, since it is a dry product that would not damage the tiles, and a dust lasts much longer than a spray in void spaces like a drop ceiling. Delta Dust can be used in a drop ceiling for carpet beetles and other crawling insect pests there. Or you may consider our Carpet Beetle Control Kit which includes the NyGuard Plus, CimeXa Dust, and glue traps.
Be sure that you have located and removed the source of the infestation as well. We have more tips in our Carpet Beetle Treatment Guide here.

Since Talstar P is a non-selective herbicide, it could potentially kill bees. It is recommended that you spray when pollinators are not active, either in the early morning or late evening, and that you avoid spraying flowering plants to reduce risk to pollinators.
Millipedes are usually going to be present when there is a lot of moisture in the area. If you have a lot of mulch near your house you may want to consider raking it back at least six inches away from the house. Also trimming bushes so that you can see the soil beneath them and so they do not touch the house will help reduce soil moisture and stop the insects from gaining access to the house via the bushes. Talstar P would be a great choice for this pest. You would apply around the outside perimeter of the home (especially under and around eaves, decks, patios, and window shutters), and inside along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, and other potential millipede harborages. We have also written an article with other tips that may help you with millipede control : Get Rid of Millipedes
Talstar P Professional Insecticide does have a 3-5 year shelf life if stored in a cool, dry place. If the appearance is good and there is no clumping etc., it should be fine to apply.
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar P Professional Insecticide. It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets. It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer. It will last for 30 outdoors and to 90 days indoors between treatments. It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use. It can be used on trees, plants, bushes, and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf-eating pests. Talstar is also available in a granule formula called Talstar PL if you prefer to use granules.
There would be no valid reason to mix Talstar P and Termidor SC together. This would nullify the non repellent factor of the Termidor SC. Termidor can only be used 1-2 feet up and out around the home and around entry points for pests and would be the better product for ants, but is not labeled for stink bugs. If you are looking for a product that you can use more freely around your home for ant control as well as other insects, then the Talstar P would be the better option to stick with.
