How to Use Your DoMyOwn Carpet Beetle Kit
*Refer to our Carpet Beetle Guide for more information on treatment and carpet beetle prevention
Before Your Treat, Vacuum
Before you apply any product, vacuum the rugs and carpets in your home. Vacuuming can remove carpet beetles and their eggs, leaving less pests to treat.
Immediately after vacuuming, dispose of the vacuum bag into outside trash. If your vacuum does not have a bag, dump the dust, hair, and dirt from the vacuum into a trash bag and immediately place the bag in an outdoor trash can.
Step 1 – Apply NyGuard Plus
Shake the can of NyGuard Plus, then apply in a sweeping motion in the rooms where carpet beetles (both larvae and adults) have been found, including:
-Carpets
-Rugs
-Baseboards
-Closets
-Around the edges of carpets
-On upholstered furniture
NyGuard Plus will not stain water-safe surfaces, but if you worry about staining, spot test a hidden area of the furniture or rug first.
You should see a mist emitting from the can. If you instead see a pin-stream spray, shake the can again. If you do forget to shake the can, wipe the tip first before shaking and spraying again.
Be sure to wear gloves and long sleeves when applying NyGuard Plus or any insecticide/adulticide around your home. Do not let children or pets into treated rooms until the solution has dried (about 1-2 hours).
Step 2 – Apply CimeXa Insecticide Dust
To apply insecticide dust, remove the black tip off the CimeXa bottle, cut the tip of the bottle, then squeeze the bottle to apply puffs of dust.
Apply dust to the following areas:
-Inside wall voids
-Where the carpet meets the baseboard
-Where the baseboard meets the wall
-Inside electrical outlets
-Attics and crawlspaces
-Where pipes meet walls, such as beneath sinks
(Optional) If you are using a bellow hand duster (sold separately) to apply your dust, fill the duster halfway with dust, then replace the lid. Turn the duster upside down (so that the lid faces the floor) and apply 1-2 puffs of dust at a time to the areas listed above.
Watch the video below for details on where and how to apply your insecticide dust.
Step 3 – Monitor Your Infestation with Catchmaster 100i Insect Monitors
Place glue board insect monitors in the corners of rooms, under furniture legs, in closets, and anywhere carpet beetles have been spotted. After you treat, you should see a decrease in the number of carpet beetles (adult and larvae) you find on the glue boards.
If you still see activity after 30 days, repeat step 1 above.
Continue to vacuum daily after treatment, throwing trash bags directly outside.

So far, so good

I came upon this website & kit when researching my carpet beetle problem. I was drawn in by the detailed description on how to tackle the problem and thought, what can it hurt, let's try it. I have hot water baseboard heat throughout my house and I think that's where the carpet beetles are hiding and evading the vacuum. They are present in many rooms of my house and basement and cannot be ignored any longer. So far I've trialed the products in my bathroom with great success which gives me the motivation to knock out the rest of the hot water baseboards throughout the house and the daunting basement. I think I'll always want to have these products on hand just in case I miss some areas and can stop them from spreading everywhere ever again. Very happy with the products so far. Im feeling optimistic that I can conquer them! Thanks!

Carpet Beetle

I was skeptical at first when purchasing this product. We had a slight problem that began to develop all of a sudden. Until then I had never even heard of a carpet beetle before. After cleaning our house and spraying real good. We waited 2 days and the investigation is completely gone. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to ride themselves of these little critters.

These products did exactly what they were made for. It's been about 3 weeks since we treated our rooms with the spray and dust and we haven't seen one single carpet larvae. I highly recommend this kit. Plus shipping was super fast.

The insecticides in the Carpet Beetle Control Kit are safe for kids and pets if used as directed. You would want to keep them out of the area while treating until the products have dried. The dust should be applied in undisturbed places away from children and pets.

We have carpet on three separate levels of our home. Would we need one kit for each level? Or just fumigation for each level?
The NyGuard Plus in the Carpet Beetle Control Kit will treat approximately 3000 sq ft between the 2 cans. The Cimexa will treat approximately 200 sq ft. Please review our Carpet Beetle Treatment Guide for information on how to use the products.

Unfortunately the Carpet Beetle Control Kit is not labeled to be used inside of vehicles. We encourage you to vaccuum the vehicle every other day, and use the glue boards in this kit inside the vehicle. The ?Nyguard Plus? in the Carpet Beetle Kit? can be used under cushions of upholstered furniture, leather should be ok inside of the home, and the Cimexa Dust could be used in nocks and crannies of the couch.
