    Q
Is Taurus SC good for lace bugs?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for lace bugs nor can it be applied for to bushes, plants, shrubs, etc.

For Lace Bug control, heavy rain or using a high pressure water spray from a garden hose to knock nymphs off of small plants will help as the nymphs lack wings and cannot return to plants.  Target water sprays at the undersides of the leaves where lace bugs are feeding.

Depending on where are treating for lacebugs, there are different options of products that can be used as a foliar spray application or as systemic drench around the root zone. Foliar applications will need to be done repeatedly through the prime season and systemic applications are done once a year to help with overall control.

Insecticidal soaps and horticultural oils are good for treating vegetables, berries, fruits, citrus and nut trees as well as ornamentals, flowers and residential greenhouses.

Synthetic pyrethroids such as Talstar P, Cyonara 9.7 or Suspend SC can be used as a foliar spray on bushes, trees, shrubs, and lawns (non edibles) for lacebugs and most common insects.

For systemic treatments once a year, Dominion 2L would be great to apply as a soil drench around the base of the shrubs, trees, bushes, etc.

    Q
    Will Taurus SC damage plants?
I found termites in the dry wood of a topiary which is in a large pot. Can I apply Taurus SC to the soil of the pot? Will it damage the the side of the healthy plant?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is should not be used on plants nor to treat soil in potted plants.  It is only for use outside around the foundation of the home in the soil to protect your home from termites.

Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a treatment for potted plants.  You can try using boiling water to kill any in the soil of the pots.

    Q
Will treatment harm cats that eat grass, or wild animals that may eat our berries?
I am applying a trench treatment around our home. I understand that edibles should be planted at least 10 feet away. Sometimes my cats escape and eat the grass. Will this harm them or make them sick?
    A
Domestic animals such as dogs and cats should be kept out of the area during application of Taurus SC Termiticide and while wet. Once completely dry it is safe for them to return as well as other adults and children typically after 4-6 hours.  The small amount left behind on any grass is not enough to harm an animal.

    Q
Where to spray Taurus SC Termiticide?
I was going to purchase this mostly for carpenter ants. However I just read it shouldn't be used on garages, on vertical surfaces, or sidewalks…all places I had planned to spray to keep bugs from crossing into the buildings. What is the reason it shouldn't be sprayed here? Thank you
    A

Per EPA Regulations, Taurus SC can only be sprayed one foot up and one foot out around the foundation of the structure and is not for use inside structures at all unless directly spot treating active infestations in wood. For additional information on treating carpenter ants, please check out our treatment and prevention article/videos here.

    Q
Can I use the rest of my garden to grow vegetables?
I used Taurus solution few weeks ago, on few spots on my garden to treat ants colony and I need to know if I can use the rest of the garden to grow vegetables or fruits trees? What's the recommended distance from the treated areas to the areas where I can grow my vegetables? Many thanks
    A
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for use out in lawns for mound treatments nor around anything edible.  Applications are only approved adjacent to structures in a trench for termites or sprayed 1-2 feet up and out for general pests only and should be kept at least 15 feet from anything edible.  It can persist in the soil for up to 10 years or more.  We would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer directly for advise regarding planting in the area since Taurus was used off label, Control Solutions 281-892-2500.

    Q
Stem Wall - Trench using Taurus SC Termiticide
My house has a stem wall or chain wall foundation in which 3 feet of brick veneer sits below the top of the grade or soil. What is the best method to trench the house to prevent termites? Would a standard 6 in by 6 in trench be appropriate or would it be better to trench down to the bottom of the brick veneer?
    A

A standard 6 in by 6 in trench with Taurus SC Termiticide will be appropriate, if want to go deeper you can, as long as you don't go past the footer for the stem wall.

    Q
Can Taurus SC be poured over stone around the house so that is seeps through to the soil underneath? Would this treatment be effective?
    A

If using Taurus SC Termiticide for Subterranean Termite trench applications, you must dig a 6 in x 6 in trench direclty against the foundation of the home per the product label. If there are landscape stones, gravel, barriers, etc that are in the path of the trench and these are not able to be removed to dig a continuous trench, we would recommend digging the trench up to the stone in your case and then continue on the other side. Pour the 4 gallons of mixed solution (3.2 fl oz Taurus SC with 4 gallons of water) every 10 linear feet and if able, uses a steel rod to prob under the stone as best as you can on both sides so the mixed solution can leach under the stone.
If using Taurus SC Termiticide for exterior perimeter treatment of carpenter ants, roaches, spiders, etc, mix 0.8fl oz per gallon of water. Spray 1ft up and 1ft out from the foundation, around windows, doors, under the eaves of the roof, etc. Do not spray landcape beds, ornamentals, bushes, shrubs, etc.

    Q
Does Taurus SC Termiticide work well if sprayed in entire yard for termite control?
My termites are in the tree roots in my yard, so I think spraying the entire yard is the way to go? Let me know what you suggest.
    A

No, Taurus SC is not labeled to be broadcast sprayed over an entire yard nor sprayer around tree roots for any reason.   For trees it can only be used to directly spot treat the nest in the tree itself by drilling into the active gallery and injecting.

    Q
How long does Taurus SC last if sprayed on ground to kill active termite in tree roots? 9 years? I see mixed info
I'm thinking about spraying my entire yard since i have active termite in tree roots.
    A

Taurus SC is not labeled to be sprayed on your yard or around trees and can cause environmental damage if used in this off-label way.

Taurus will last a few weeks if sprayed topically on the soil around a structure. If you do a trenching treatment in the soil it can last up to 10 years.

Please see the product label instructions for more information

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC in a pump sprayer and then use the sprayer for something else like foliar spraying?
    A

As long as you observe the triple rinse rule of running clean water, or water and soap/tank cleaner through the sprayer including the hose, wand and nozzle three times between chemicals, you can reuse that sprayer for other purposes. Some customers however prefer to keep their applications of products like the Taurus SC to their own unit and have a different sprayer for plant/yard use.

    Q
My unfinished crawlspace is unfinished, 34 inches high and 1900 sqr feet. Can I spray Taurus SC?
The house has had termites before. I still need to finish and seal the crawlspace but have not so far. Trees about 10 ft away have been found with termites. I will put in a trenched barrier with Termidor this weekend.
    A

If you are treating for Subterranean termites, for best results, you would actually be able to trench around the inside perimeter of the crawl space. Yes, you can spray as long as you are following the instructions on the product label for general pests, but for subterranean termites specifically, they come from the ground usually within the top 6 inches of soil. Please take a moment to review our Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide for more information and helpful tips on creating a successful treatment plan and eradicating this pest.

    Q
How to apply if I can not dig a trench around my house to create a barrier?
I live in South Florida and have rocks around my whole house. The rocks / pebbles are 2 feet from wall of house and 3 to 4 inches deep. I also read that I need to make enough formula to go down 3 feet. Since the soil is sandy down here, can I still use Taurus to create the barrier without dig a trench, which would cause me more of a headache then it may be worth. If I can and the whole footage is 194 feet around the whole house, how many ounces do I need?
    A
Taurus SC Termiticide is a great product for protecting the foundation of the structure from subterranean termites, however if you have rock or a barrier in place to prevent this from being trenched as the label requires, your only option would be to use bait stations and dig individual holes in the rock for the stations to go into. Stations should be placed roughly every 10 feet apart around the home, so this would be less digging and moving of rock than the trenching application would require. We only recommend using bait stations when no termite activity is found in the home currently as they are not an effective means of pulling termites out of the home if they are already infesting it. The Advance Termite Bait Station Kit would be a great choice for you, and the 20 station kit would be perfect for your homes perimeter if you place them every 10 feet.
