Taurus SC Termiticide Insecticide with 9.1% Fipronil provides best-in-class control of termites, ants and a wide variety of other insect pests including roaches, spiders, centipedes and many more. This professional termiticide is labeled to treat for subterranean termites, arborel termites, drywood termites, and dampwood termites. Taurus SC is a non-repellent insecticide that is undetectable to target pests. This allows the pests to touch, ingest, and spread the insecticide throughout their entire colony. Taurus SC will eliminate termite colonies in less than 90 days on average, and ant infestations can be controlled in just a few weeks.
Taurus SC is NOT labeled for Fire Ants.
Please follow all label directions carefully before use.

Taurus SC Termiticide contains the non-repellent active ingredient the Fipronil. Fipronil belongs to the phenylpyrazole family of insecticides, acting primarily as a GABA inhibitor, attacking the central nervous system of target pests. Fipronil is extremely effective, yet it works slowly enough on target insect pests to take advantage of the natural food-sharing habits of social insects, particularly termites and ants. This means that the fipronil in Taurus SC spreads throughout the entire colony, killing not just those insects that come in contact with the direct spray or residual, but all the others they contact, resulting in colony elimination.
Subterranean termites, ants, cockroaches, occasional perimeter invaders
PESTS CONTROLLED: Ants (acrobat, Argentine, big-headed, carpenter, crazy, odorous, pavement, pharaoh, thief), Asian lady beetles, darkling beetles, Australian cockroaches, Oriental cockroaches, smoky brown cockroaches, Black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders, cellar spiders, hobo spiders, Box-elder bugs, Pill bugs, Brown and dog ticks, Centipedes, Cluster flies, European earwigs, House crickets, Millipedes, Paper wasps (NOT a knockdown agent), Silverfish, Yellow jackets, Subterranean termites (including Reticulitermes, Zootermopsis, Heterotermes, Coptotermes)
Taurus SC is a generic version of the termiticide most widely used by professional pest control companies. Taurus SC is designed for the prevention and treatment of termite infestations, and it can be applied either pre-construction or post-construction. Taurus SC is also labeled for the outdoor perimeter control of many common invaders, most effectively for ants. Because of its efficacy and longevity, termite treatments with Taurus SC may last up to 10 years, and outdoor perimeter treatments only need to be applied twice per year. Taurus SC may also be used in structural wall voids to treat active subterranean termite and ant infestations. Taurus SC is not for general indoor use.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Fipronil 9.1%
Always read the product label completely before use.
The main use for Taurus SC is for protection against subterranean termite infestations. To accomplish this, an outside barrier treatment is made in the ground around the foundation of the home that will protect against termites for up to 10 years or more.
First, you will need to dig a 6 inches deep x 6 inches wide trench around the outside foundation wall of the home. Next, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 4 mixed gallons per every 10 lineal feet of trench. It is best to use a 5 gallon bucket and mark off the 4 gallon line, then mix 4 gallons of Taurus SC at a time and pour it in the trench. Allow the solution to soak into the soil and then replace the back-fill, making sure that the back-fill is soaked with Taurus SC as well. When you are done, you should have one contiguous in-ground barrier of Taurus SC all the way around the home.
Treating across slabs of concrete touching the house (such as a back patio or front porch) can be accomplished by using a hammer drill with a 1/2-inch drill bit. Holes are drilled through the concrete approximately 3-4 inches out from the house and every 12 inches across the concrete slab. Please see the product label for more information.
For more information please see the article: How to do a Termite Treatment.
Each 20 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 25 gallons of finished solution. Each 78 oz. bottle of concentrate yields 97 gallons of finished solution.
Outside surfaces and along foundation of Residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings and utility enclosures; wall voids of listed structures; NOT for indoor use; for pre-construction and post-construction treatment for termites, including concrete structures such as patios, porches, sidewalks and foundation slabs; concrete slab (including monolithic, floating and supported concrete slabs) on ground or in basements; hollow block foundations or voids in masonry; structures with French drains and sump pumps; basement structures; crawl spaces; around bath traps and shower drains; posts, poles, and wood landscape ornamentation.
Taurus SC is not for Indoor use. The only permitted use indoors is for active ant or termite infestations in wall voids only.
Treating Live Termite Infestations above ground:
To control Aerial termite colonies or Drywood Termites, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply to infested wooden members or voids. To treat inaccessible areas (for example, if the termite infestation is behind dry wall), drill and inject Taurus SC into the damaged wood of void spaces with a crack and crevice injector. Foam applications can also be made into void spaces.
Termite Control – See general directions above. See our article How to Do a Termite Treatment for more details.
For outdoor control of Ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Make sure to treat the joint where exterior siding (wood, vinyl, aluminum or other similar materials) meets the cement, brick or block foundation. Treat anywhere electrical, cable or telephone wires enter the house. This application should be made only twice per year, in the Spring and Fall. Taurus SC works well enough that only 2 applications per year are needed for effective control.
Also be careful to prune away vegetation including shrubs and tree branches that may be touching the side of the house. This will keep pests from using shrubs and tree branches to bypass the protective barrier you sprayed.

ANTS

Unsure
By Mike on 05/20/2016
It's only been a week or 2 since we used the product. We bought it obviously to kill/prevent termites but since it said it kills ants we were excited about that since ants seem to be in excess this year. Well so far it hasn't killed the ants they just keep crawling across the surface even though we dug trenches all around the house and sprayed the top surface twice. I'm hoping it works soon and I would reconsider upping my review rating when or if that happens. At this point though if it doesn't kill the ants I'm not confident that it will kill or prevent termites and afraid I wasted my money.

Taurus SC
By Wally on 06/12/2012
Taurus is a non-repelling insecticide. Following the directions for termite treatment I trenched at the perimeter of my home, sprayed and put the dirt back in. The product works great. It has been two years since I treated my property. So far no signs of harm to good insects because my flowering trees and plants are pollinating just fine. I have recommended this product to my homeowner's association.

Excellent product
By Tim on 11/07/2011
This product is very handy to use with the squeezable pre-measured dispenser with separate cap. It allows the user to measure small amounts to apply in tight spaces when a watering can is used and only one or two gallons are needed at a time. Complete instructions are attached to the bottle so you always have them handy for reference. The same stuff the professionals use at a fraction of the cost!

Taurus SC Termiticide is a liquid termiticide for soil applications as directed around structures. It is not for any grazing areas or areas where cow and horses have access. Due to the high-water table and potential for regular flooding in the state of Louisiana, most of the soil termiticides such as Taurus SC are not for use in the soil in that state. This means only unique and safer formulations that won't get into the water are allowed, or bait stations in instances where liquids are not the preferred option.
I need foam as well as dry powder for different applications
We carry Taurus Dry Precision Delivery System Starter Kit if you need Taurus SC Termiticide in a dust form. While we do not have a foam version, you may consider Termidor FOAM. It is the same active ingredient
I see that the shelf life at room temperature is five (5) years. However, the product is effective (foundation trench treatment) for up to eight (8) years. Can you explain why the products works to prevent termites for 8 years but is only storable for five years? AND if I store the product for five years and then re-treat my foundation, will the product still provide the same 8-year protection? Thanks, Dave from Gulf Shores, AL
Taurus SC, when applied to a termite trench, adheres to soil particles, shielding the active ingredient, fipronil, from degradation. The soil's stable environment helps maintain the product's potency for up 10 years. Yes, storing Taurus SC for up to five years and then reapplying it to your foundation can still provide 10 years of protection. As long as the product has been stored correctly and is within its expiration date, its effectiveness will remain unchanged.
Why is this not approved for post-construction in Louisiana and Termidor is? I thought they are essentially the same?
Taurus SC does contain the same active ingredient as Termidor SC, however, legal labeling will vary between different manufacturers for numerous reasons. Termidor SC label was just recently to allow post construction applications in Louisiana so Control Solutions may get theirs updated as well. It just takes time.
Taurus SC is an effective termiticide against a variety of subterranean, arborel, drywood, and dampwood (e.g. Reticulitermes, Zootermopsis, Heterotermes, and Coptotermes) termites, and other wood-infesting pests (e.g., carpenter ants, beetles, borers) as directed.
Taurus SC Termiticide has a dry time of 4-6 hours.
Reading the instructions is says not to apply to this area. And it also says not to apply between Nov and Feb. Why?
Per the Taurus SC label: For driveways, exterior drilling is necessary only around building supports or wall elements permanently located at driveway joints.
Taurus SC Termiticide is a restrictive product in general in regards to where, when, and how often it can be applied even in states outside of California. Per the state and EPA, it cannot be applied in California between November 1 and February 28 per the label, and the label is the law. In general, November-February are considered winter months that no insecticides would normally be recommended for as this is not an active pest season or time of year. When registering the Taurus label and use in California, they made sure to specify to not use during these times of year to further reduce any unnecessary applications of the chemical.
Taurus SC is not labeled for use inside a concrete wall for honey bee control. There are no products for controlling honeybees as they are beneficial to the environment and are protected.
The first thing you can do is contact your local cooperative extension office and ask for the phone number for your local honey bee farmer. Many bee farmers will come remove honey bees free of charge because of the recent decline in the honey bee population. If this is not an option for you, you can use a hand duster to apply a dust product such as Tempo Dust into and around the area where the bees seem to be gaining access into the wall. Over a period of a couple of days to a week (timeline will depend on how many bees are contacting the treated area) this will kill off the colony. Any insecticide applications should be done very early in the morning or very late in the evening when the bees are less active.
After the bees have been eliminated it is important to remove the bee hive from the void where the bees were nesting. Failure to remove the hive can lead to mold issues and secondary infestation from hive beetles and other insects. If the bee hive is in an area that is not easily accessible you may want to consider hiring a professional pest control operator.
You can also contact your local department of agriculture or cooperative extension office in your county for resources and help on removing them from the property as well.
Recently, I found a bunch of dead winged carpenter ants and some other bugs right at the base of my garage door on the inside. I usually do my perimeter spray right there at the base of the garage door. However, I thought this stuff wasn't supposed to kill on contact so it could be spread. Does it kill almost on contact?
Taurus SC typically does not kill insects quickly. Having said that, if the product was applied at a higher usage rate, or if the insects were old or otherwise unhealthy or the an insect spends a lot of time on a treated surface, they can succumb significantly faster than we usually see.

They already used it so I just wanted to find out a little more
Taurus SC Termiticide is NOT labeled for indoor general pest control. The Taurus SC Termiticide product label only allows indoor applications to wall voids (behind sheet rock), unfinished attics, unfinished basements, and crawlspaces for active termite infestations. Taurus SC Termiticide could be harmful if used indoors and would be in violation of the product label.
Taurus SC Termiticide does list tree treatments on the label under cartoon nests. However, it is only labeled for injection applications, and not for a general spray on or around trees. Please review the product label for complete instructions.
You should not use Taurus SC Termiticide indoors on surfaces, including in attics. It's labeled for use as a general pest spray and termite treatment on the outside of a structure's foundation and only for active infestations directly in wood if used inside as directed on the product label.
after-digging a trench it’s fill up will water I vac the water out of trench. I want trench already be dug out before ordering and receiving Taurus sc. Sometime it it rain here couple day and we have a 3-4 day day break before it rain again. I was trying to get Taurus sc in ground before that 24 or 48 hr break before it rain again
You would not want the soil to be overly muddy or saturated at the time of application. If heavy rains have come through, give some time for the soil to dry out to some degree, but it does not have to be fully dry. You can then apply the Taurus and it will bond to the soil over the next 6-8 hours after application.
