We recommend that you clean and/or steam surfaces that were mistakenly treated as Taurus SC Termiticide is outdoor application only.
Taurus SC is not labeled for fleas. Fleas tend to live in moist shady areas out in the yard where pets or other animals spend a lot of time resting. Taurus SC however is only labeled to be used in very limited areas on or immediately next to the house or structure making it mostly ineffective for flea treatments. We recommend you use our Outdoor Flea & Tick Kit to get rid of fleas in and around your home.
Taurus SC Termiticide will work for most species of ants but it is not specifically labeled for leaf cutter ants. We believe the reason leaf cutter ants were not included on the label is because most people do not have leaf cutter ants on their homes or trying to gain access to their homes and Taurus SC Termiticide
is only allowed to be used on or immediately around a structure not around trees. Leaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and the ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times. DeltaGard Granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be used for general pest control of various insects including ants and would only need to be sprayed around the foundation of a structure one foot up and one foot out around the perimeter. No trenching is required unless treating for subterranean termites.
It is not necessary to trench when using Taurus SC Termiticide for ant control. For outdoor control of ants and other perimeter pests, mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Also spray around any exterior openings where pests may enter such as doors (don't spray near door handles), windows, pipes, cracks, vents, holes, etc. Also, be careful to prune away vegetation including shrubs and tree branches that may be touching the side of the house. This will keep pests from using shrubs and tree branches to bypass the protective barrier you sprayed.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied with a foaming agent in a foam applicator for wall void applications as indicated on the product label only.
Taurus SC Termiticide cannot be used in the lawn or on mounds, only within 1 foot of the foundation of a structure.
Termidor SC is not labeled for application to tree stumps. A better option would be Dominion 2L. You can drill into the stump and then inject Dominion 2L into the stump where the termites activity is using a hand pump sprayer. You can also choose to trench around the stump and apply the product to the trench. Dominion will help to eliminate the colony below ground as well as those in the stump.
Taurus SC should not harm plants if used as directed. Keep in mind that it is only labeled for use no further than 1 foot up and 1 foot out around a structure.
Taurus SC Termiticide is generally mixed at 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water depending on the target pest and application.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be used for carpenter bees in localized areas. The mixing rate is 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water. This can be done twice a year at this rate.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied directly into gallery entrance holes for carpenter bees only. After application, gallery entrance holes should be plugged. It is not labeled for any other type of bees since it cannot be used on plants or around the yard.
If you are referring to treating under a crawl space and trenching with Taurus SC Termiticide, it would only be recommended to trench along the inside wall if you have an active infestation. However, you should trench around any pillars/piers in this area as part of a preventative application.
Taurus SC Termiticide is generally used to treat the soil underneath a drain. We would not suggest pouring it down the actual drain. It can be applied in a wall void indoors if they know exactly where the infestation is.
Taurus SC would not be the most effective way of treating for drywood termites in an attic. You can treat the termite galleries in the wood with a product like Termidor Foam, which will leave behind a non-repellent residual that allows the termites to pick the product up on their bodies and transfer it throughout the entire colony in the wood to eradicate the entire colony. You can apply Bora Care to the raw, untreated wood in the attic a few weeks after using the Termidor Foam (you want to give the termites a chance to distribute it throughout the colony to eradicate all or most of the colony) which will protect the wood for the lifetime of it against wood boring pests like drywood and subterranean termites.
When applying Taurus SC, concrete areas should be drilled every 10-12" apart, 2" from the foundation. You will disperse 4 gallons every 10 ft of drilled holes. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Termites for a successful application.
As long as the Taurus SC Termiticide as had time to dry and bind to the soil it should not be affected by power washing the home. Avoid spraying or displacing the treated soil.
