Tenacity is not labeled to control cheeseweed. The herbicides we carry that are labeled to control cheeseweed are Spectracide Weed and Grass Killer With Extended Control RTU, Goal 2XL Herbicide, Ronstar 50 WSP, and Aim EC Herbicide.
Tenacity Herbicide is not labeled to treat beggarweed. Fertilome Weed Free Zone is labeled to treat beggarweed on listed grasses. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.
According to the Tenacity product label, you will need to mix 1 tsp of product + 3 tsp surfactant with 2 gallons of water for spot treatments applied at a rate of 1 gallon per 1,000 sq ft. It is advised to use a dye like Turf Mark Blue with it so you can make sure to not overlap if you plan to do a broadcast application on the property. Repeat applications can be done after two to three weeks for continued post emergent weed control.
According to the Safety Data Sheet, before Tenacity Herbicide is diluted, it should have a beige to tan liquid appearance. If the product has been tightly sealed and kept out of sunlight and extreme temperatures, the shelf life is 3-5 years. When using Tenacity, foliage of treated weeds cease growth after application, then turn white (loss of chlorophyll), and death may take up to three weeks. A repeat application is required after two to three weeks for improved postemergence weed control. A non-ionic surfactant should be added in post-emergence applications. Tenacity Herbicide may be applied when soil temperatures are around 55 degrees or higher. Do not apply when air temperature exceeds 85 degrees. Your target temperature range will depend on whether you are using Tenacity for pre-emergent or post-emergent applications. This is typically between 65-85 degrees. Tenacity is not labeled to control undesirable ornamental plants, although it may harm them if sprayed accidentally. You will need to remove physically all the parts of the iris - including the rhizomes in the soil – in order to prevent these plants from regrowing the following year. You can use a glyphosate product such as RoundUp QuikPro to kill the above ground plants, but you will need to remove the rhizomes after spraying. This article has easy-to-follow directions on this treatment, which is best done in the fall.
Tenacity Herbicide cannot be applied around edible vegetation. When applying the product to your lawn, you would want to be sure to avoid over-spray or drift of spray applications onto the fruit trees, and avoid spraying within the drip line of any edible trees.
Tenacity Herbicide is not labeled for use on a dichondra lawn, and it is not labeled for spurge. Dichondra lawns are considered a type of ground cover, and many herbicides may prevent this type of lawn from growing. Please contact your local cooperative extension office Master Gardener for assistance on products that will take care of the weeds in your lawn without causing harm. Tenacity Herbicide can be shipped and used in Pennsylvania. It can safely be applied to Kentucky Bluegrass, Centipedegrass, Buffalograss, Tall Fescue, Perennial Ryegrass, Fine Fescue, St. Augustine Grass (grown for sod only). This is a professional grade product, so you will not find it on the shelves of any big-box stores.
Since Tenacity Herbicide can be used only on fully dormant Bermudagrass, there is not a time when you would be overseeding and using Tenacity at the same time. You would overseed with Bermuda when the turf is actively growing in spring or summer, if needed at all. So if you applied Tenacity on dormant Bermuda, then it would be long gone by the time the turf is completely green and any seeding would be fone. If you would like to tell us more about the weeds you are targeting, then we can recommend alternate products for your needs.

Tenacity Herbicide is applied to nimblewill when it is actively growing, and should be applied when temperatures are between 65 and 85 degrees. You should make your application when no rain is in the forecast for 24 hours, and you should not mow 2 days before or 2 days after your application. It is applied at the rate of 1 teaspoon of Tenacity, 3 teaspoons of surfactant, in 2 gallons of water per 2000 sq ft.

Tenacity Herbicide is only for use on St Augustine when used in sod farms and cannot be used on residential St. Augustine lawns.
It is not recommended to use a hose-end sprayer to treat your lawn with Tenacity Herbicide or any other herbicide. The problem with using hose-end sprayers is that they are not very accurate, and you can wind up dispensing more or less product than recommended per area. This can lead to less than desirable results.
Tenacity Herbicide is our most popular product for eliminating bentgrass from other desirable turfgrasses, but it does typically require multiple applications. Late summer/Fall applications will be more effective than Spring applications.

Tenacity Herbicide is one of the few products that can be applied at seeding, prior to seeding, or just after seeding of new grasses to help prevent and control weeds at the same time. Be sure to check the label for any restrictions to certain turf types as Fine Fescue is more sensitive than other species when using Tenacity at seeding. Be sure to use a Non Ionic Surfactant with Tenacity when applying for best results.
