    Q
When I receive Termidor, how do I know how much of the shelf life has already been spent on your end?
    A
Termidor is a high moving item so most bottles dont spend more than 1-2 weeks in our temperature stable warehouse. We are unsure how long it sits from the time it is placed in the bottle before it comes to us, but you can always contact the manufacturer with the code printed on the bottle which will tell them when it was produced. Most of the time it is no more than 6 months from time it is packaged to the time you receive it. If you want to check your batch code, contact BASF at 1-800-526-1072.

    Q
What is the best way to use Termidor SC and Suspend SC?
I want to spray both Termidor and suspend around the perimeter of my home but I'm not sure what the best method would be. I'm guessing to band one that goes 2ft up2ft out and another band that starts after the 2ft out and no up. But I'm not sure which one should be sprayed where .
    A
If you are having problems with an insect like ants that you need a transfer effect for, you could use the Termidor twice a year around the foundation of your home 2 feet up and 2 feet out. After 30 to 60 days after spraying the Termidor, you could do remedial sprays with Suspend in between to keep insects at bay and out in areas of the yard where the Termidor can not be used. Or, if you are not having a heavy infestation of an insect that would need the transfer of Termidor, you should only use Suspend SC to treat your home and your lawn. You never want to spray the two in the same area or at the same time as the Suspend will take away from the non-repellancy and transfer effect of the Termidor which is what it is used for. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
I have a horrible thief ant problem. What will kill them? HELP
I have tried Maxforce FC bait stations, Combat Source Kill bait stations, and Terro, Borax, and Boric Acid mixed with peanut butter (to attract them). I'm tried of wasting money and time on products that don't work. What would be your top suggestion for thief ants? They do (and only ever) prefer proteins. (Sorry if this is a repeat submission, there was an error and I was unsure if the last question was submitted).
    A
If the ants are not taking the Maxforce bait we would recommend to use advance 375A as it is a protien based bait. You could also instead use Termidor SC. Termidor is a non repellent and thus when the foraging ants come in contact with it they will transfer the active ingredient back to the colony and it will cause a domino killing effect. Termidor is mixed at a rate of .80 fl oz. to one gallon of water in a pump sprayer and sprayed around the outside foundation of the home. For example, you would spray 1 foot up the foundation of your home, and 1 foot out onto the ground.  The treatment will last about 4-6  months, and will then need to be reapplied. Th

    Q
Accidentally sprayed Termidor near tomato plant, should I discard the plant?
I was spraying the perimeter of my house and accidentally sprayed some Termidor on a section of my deck that is about 3 ft from a Tomato plant. I don't think it got in the soil unless there was some over spray.
    A
If there is a doubt if some Termidor SC got to the soil of the garden area you can remove the soil and replace it with fresh soil to avoid any contamination issues.  Any tomatos that you suspect have been over sprayed would need to be discarded.

    Q
How well does Termidor SC work with brown recluse spiders?
We purchased a 100 year old home and there is a major infestation of brown recluse. Any help would be appreciated.
    A
Termidor SC is labeled for brown recluse spiders but you would only be able to use the product outside.  Termidor SC does not have an immediate knockdown but instead uses a delayed reaction kill which makes it especially effective for social insects like ants, termites and certain species of wasps.  The hardest part of getting rid of the brown recluse is finding them since they like to remain hidden. Cyper WP would be a great choice for indoor and outdoor spider control. The active ingredient in Cyper WP is cypermethrin, which is known to be one of the top choices for spider control. Spraying Cyper WP will also help to get rid of the insects that spiders feed on and that will help to stop new spiders from moving in. Indoors, spray around all baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances, in closets and storage rooms and in areas where utilities enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray around the bottom of the foundation, on the ground adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames and places where the utilities enter into the structure.  We have included Cyper in our spider control kit, which also contains glue boards to help monitor the infestation (and help catch the spiders too).

    Q
I have a spider problem first and foremost. Can I use Termidor SC on my outdoor furniture?
I want to spray the patio furniture (no cushions) because most of the spiders hide up under the tables and chairs. I don't know if just spraying the house is going to get enough. Can I spray on wood furniture? Outdoor resin furniture? metal/aluminum? A ping pong table? Is this safe to do? And ok with dogs?
    A
Termidor will treat spiders but it can only be used around the exterior of structures to control spiders and is not labeled to be used on furniture. However most folks will use a residual product with a broader application area and a faster knockdow. Please check out our spider control kit. The spider control kit includes Cyper WP, Web Out and Cob Web Duster.  The Web Out would be the better product to use on the underside of furniture as it will help to prevent them from making their webs and will kill spiders on contact.  All products are safe to use around pets when used as directed on the product labels and as long as they are out of the area until the products dries.

    Q
Can I spray Termidor on the bushes or around the base of the bushes that are against the back wall of the yard?
I have a lot of spider webs and spiders living in the bushes in the back yard. They butt up to a cinder-block 'fence' around the perimeter of the back yard. Can I spray the bushes directly or can I spray the base of the cinder-block wall and ground just under the bushes? And I just want to make sure that once the spray dries, dogs can walk on the grass and roll around on it. What happens if they eat the grass even after it's dried?
    A
Termidor SC can only be used on or immediately around the foundation of a structure and does not offer a fast knockdown.  When dealing with spiders most folks will use a residual product with a broader application area, like the Talstar P. It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets once dried.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.  If you dog eats the grass that may have been sprayed, there should not be an issue as the small amount of active ingredient once diluted is not enough to harm anything larger than insects.

    Q
If your house has termites should you put Termidor SC all around the house or just where they are found?
    A
If you have termites in your home, we recommend doing the liquid treatment as outlined in the "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article and then inside the home where you know you have the termites you will treat them directly by injecting the Termidor into the wall or cutting a hole into the wall and spraying on the wood or however you can get the product to the termites. It only needs to touch a few termites to work.

    Termidor to Kill houseflies
Outside dumpster at apartment building, will this product be useful for treatment for killing the houseflies?
    A
Termidor SC is not labeled for use anywhere outdoors, except around the perimeter of structures. We recommend using a fly bait like Maxforce Fly Spot bait. This product can be sprayed or painted on the outside of the dumpsters. Flies will be attracted to the bait and die within seconds. A small spot has up to a 6-week residual to control future intruders.

    Q
Is Termidor sprayed on the ground around my house effective for termite control?
I've been mixing 1.6 oz per gallon and spraying 2 gallons per 10 linear foot around our home. It's a brick home with concrete foundation.
    A
Spraying Termidor SC topically around your home is an ineffective way to control termites. Termidor SC needs to be applied in a trenching treatment for it to be effective. You have also been applying the product too strongly. You should use .8 fl oz per gallon of water and then use 6 gallons of finished solution per 10 linear feet. Please read the termite treatment guide at the following link: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/how-to-perform-termite-treatment-a-87.html

    Q
I have termites build mudtubes from cement basement floor up 7ft cement wall to wood floor - best way to treat
Is there an above ground bait system I can put in the path of the tubes or can i spray a liquid directly on concrete and tubes. Or do i need to drill holes in floor for bait station or liquid?
    A
Since the termites already have an active infestation baiting will not be helpful. You can direct treat the wood that is infested with product like Boracare. You can also trench and treat around the area where the mud tubes enter into the home using Termdor. You may want to give us a call for a more specific treatment program by calling 866-581-7378 M-F 9-5 EST.

    Q
How do I get rid of crazy ants?
They are in my yard, starting to get in my home.
    A
Termidor SC is one of the best products known to work on the crazy ant. According to the product label you are only allowed to use Termidor SC once very 6 months for ant control (the only exception to this is for folks dealing with the Raspberry crazy ant of Texas and only in certain counties of Texas. Those folks have received an exemption). You can alternate between products if needed. You can use Termidor SC and then alternate it with Phantom which works very much like the Termidor. By using this method you are staying within the label limits. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Is the Termidor SC properties affected or reduced with the use of another product for fleas and ticks?
I use Termidor for termites and I need some product to kill and control ticks and fleas around the patio and premises where my pets stay. What product do you recommend for those pests in my pets; shampoos, dips, etc.?
    A
Since Termidor is a non-repellant product you would not want to apply anything repellant as it will null that affect.  For flea and tick control outside you can use the Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit.  This kit contains Onslaught which is a broad spectrum insecticide which can be used as a broadcast spray for both indoor and outdoor infestations. The kit also contains Martins IGR which will help break the breeding cycle of the fleas for long term control.  Both products work great for fleas and ticks.  We do carry several products that are labeled for flea and tick control on pets, you can find them here.  Our most popular product is the PetCor Flea Spray.  Petcor Flea Spray contains Precor IGR, another type of insect growth regulator.

Is trenching best down with wet or dry soil, hot cold weather, when bugs are present or not?
I live in So Fla where there is sandy soil
    A
Termite trenching is best done when the soil is a bit moist and when the temperatures are below 85 degrees. Having bugs present or not will have no effect on the treatment.

    Q
What is good to spray a large lot for crazy ants, and also spray indoors?
    A
Termidor SC used outdoors and Phantom used indoors have been the most effective products to control Crazy Raspberry Ants. Ant baits and synthetic pyrethroid insecticides do not seem to do an effective job controlling this ant species. Texas A&M University has done extensive research regarding these ants and you can find detailed articles on their extension website. We have linked a specific article about them HERE.
