    Q
Can I add soil around slab treated with Termidor?
The ground is sinking around my slab and I need to add soil you can see under slab a little bit. Can I add soil around slab treated with Termidor? Will this affect the barrier the pest control company dug a trench around my house and treated with Termidor? Do I have to retrench or can I just add soil treated in a wheelbarrow with Termidor?
    A

Anytime you are adding soil on top of soil that was previously treated with Termidor SC, you need to be sure to also treat that new soil so it is still protected.   We recommend applying the Termidor SC in a trench with the soil that is and will be directly up against the foundation of the treated structure. Please refer to the termite treatment article for full instructions on treatment

    Q
Is it safe to use Termidor SC around the outside edge of may raised beds to treat carpenter ants?
The raised bed is empty now but plan to plant it in about 30 days with edible plants. Carpenter ants are leaving piles of sawdust at the soil contact with 6" x 6" juniper beams
    A

Termidor SC should only be applied outside within 1 foot of a house or other structure that we are trying to protect. You also should not apply Termidor SC near or on edible plants. The supplemental label of this product does allow for treatment of active carpenter ants in landscape timbers: in this case, the Termidor SC finished solution would need to be injected into the wood where the ants are found. A safe option for use around the outside of the raised bed would be to use a bait such as Advance Carpenter Ant Bait Granules.

    Q
Can Termidor SC be applied on grass in the yard for fire ant treatments?
    A

Termidor SC cannot be applied on the grass in the lawn for treating any insects including fire ants. It is labeled for applications up against the structure for other ant species and crawling insects as well as in the soil for termite applications. It is not labeled for treating fire ants. We do carry products that can be applied for control of fire ants. Please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Fire Ants for more details.

  • Asked by Lh from Wauchula, Florida
    05/15/2016
    Q
When using one of the two foaming agents that you sell along with Termidor SC, how is the foam generated?
Is the foam generated by the chemical activity of the foaming agent when mixed with water or Termidor SC? Or is the foam generated by the activity of the pump up foamsprayer and it's nozzle?
    A

When applying Termidor SC as a foam, it is both the chemistry of the foaming agent and the pressurized application from the foaming equipment that generate the foam, so we must have both of these components to create a foam from a liquid insecticide concentrate.

    05/15/2016
    Q
Does Termidor SC work in sandy soil applications with the trenching method?
The sandy soil in my area Of Florida is hydrophobic and does not absorb water or chemicals. Will one of the two foaming agents that you sell for use with Termidor SC Act as a surfactant or wetting agent? Will either of these two foaming Products disrupt the non repellent nature of the Termidor? Or is there another wetting agent that you would recommend?
    A

Termidor SC has soil binding molecules in it that will allow it to bind to any soil regardless of the density. It is not labeled to be used with a foaming agent in the trenching method.

If an Herb and Vegetable garden has been treated with Termidor how safe is soil after 2 months?
I am looking at pulling out the existing herbs and vegetables (haven't eaten any) and replanting new ones in say 2 months time. Would the soil be safe to do this is or is there a residual left in the soil from the Termidor and if so any idea for how long I have to wait before it will be safe?
    A

Termidor SC binds with soil and can stay in the soil up to 10 years. We highly recommend to contact the manufacturer BASF 800-526-1072 since it was applied in an off-label manner.

What is the interior version of a Termidor to target ants?
I want to use the Slow contact Kill method Like a TERMIDOR Type product. ONLY for the ( Interior of a House ) what is the best INTERIOR ANT Residual hands down ? Wes~
    A

Phantom Insecticide would be a good option for ants indoors. It is a non-repellent product like Termidor SC. It does have a different active ingredient, however, it is a very good product for interior and exterior use. The mixing ratio is 3 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

How do you treat areas for termites that are decked against the home at ground level?
we have a deck in the suspected area that is 10 inches off the ground with no access underneat making it impossible to trench
    A

You can either drill into the deck to get to the soil underneath, or you may need to remove the plank or two closest to the structure so be able to treat the soil.

    Q
Can I mix Termidor with a weed killer?
I am working around several large warehouses and would like to do both at once to save some time.
    A

Due to the nature of Termidor SC it would not be advisable to mix it with anything else. Adding in other products could decrease the non repellency effect of Termidor SC.

    Does Termidor SC kill scorpions?

  • Asked by John
    05/28/2016
    Q
It rained 30 minutes after application of Termidor SC, do I need to reapply?
    A

Depending on how heavy the rain was will depend on if you will need to reapply. If the rain was only light and you had just completed a Termidor treatment in a trench for termite prevention then you should be fine. If it was a heavy rain for a long period of time then you may need to reapply. If you were using the Termidor to spray around the perimeter of your home for ants and general insects, then you will likely need to reapply it on a day when no rain is expected for at least 24 hours.

    Q
Do I have to dig a trench around my pillow blocks under my house to treat for termites?
    A

If the pillow blocks are under the surface you will not need to dig around them for you treatment. You will want to focus on treating outside around the structure for your trenching area so that the solution will absorb into soil enough to leave a residual where the termites are migrating from. Please let us know if you need more information.
