    Q
Does Termidor SC or HE breakdown and become inert if left in mixed form?
    A
Termidor SC should only be mixed when you are ready to apply. It should be applied within 24 hours of mixing with water for the most effective control.

    Q
What can I use for a carnivorous ant which attacks the soft tissue of trapped mice?
MY seasonal travel trailer's in the Adirondacks. I've had no problem eliminating the mice which have gained access to the trailer, but these ants appear between the time of the kill and the emptying of the trap.
    A
We are not sure what type of ants you have based on your description (most ants will eat dead animals as they need protein during certain times of the year) but using Termidor SC around the exterior of your structure should help eliminate them. Termidor is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony. Then, through normal social interaction, the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony. Termidor only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects.

    Q
Can Termidor be used next to a pond or a lake?
    A

Termidor SC should not be applied within 15 feet of bodies of water per the product label.  Keep in mind that for most applications, Termidor should only be applied around the foundation of a home or other structure.

    Q
Can I use Termidor SC if I put down something for carpenter ants and termites?
I found active termites and had some spectracide Termite and carpenter ant killer in ready to use bottle so I dumped the whole thing across a 15 ft. area. I did not dig out any dirt before dumping, I just dumped. Can I still use the termidor? This was about a month ago that I poured the stuff on the ground. I also needed to know how these commercial companys make such neat trenches, do you have any suggestions?
    A
We recommend that you check the product label of the product that was previously used in that area for the length of time of the residual prior to applying any product in that area. You may also call the manufacturer of the product for the information.

    Q
What is good to spray a large lot for crazy ants, and also spray indoors?
    A
Termidor SC used outdoors and Phantom used indoors have been the most effective products to control Crazy Raspberry Ants. Ant baits and synthetic pyrethroid insecticides do not seem to do an effective job controlling this ant species. Texas A&M University has done extensive research regarding these ants and you can find detailed articles on their extension website. We have linked a specific article about them HERE. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Q
Do I have to dig a trench around my pillow blocks under my house to treat for termites?
    A

If the pillow blocks are under the surface you will not need to dig around them for you treatment. You will want to focus on treating outside around the structure for your trenching area so that the solution will absorb into soil enough to leave a residual where the termites are migrating from. Please let us know if you need more information.

    Q
How do I apply Termidor SC before pouring a tension slab with piers and beams?
I will be pouring a post tension slab with piers and beams and want to pre treat for termites. Where should I apply the Termidor SC? I'm thinking around all the plumbing penetrations & the 2' deep exterior footer. Before the concrete is poured a plastic sheeting will be put down, do you apply the Termidor before the plastic is put down or can you apply it on top of the plastic?
    A

Termidor SC should be applied directly to the soil. It is recommended that you treat around each pier. You will mix at a rate of .80 fl oz. for each gallon of water used. Each 20 oz bottle will make 25 gallons of solution and treats 60 lineal feet of trenching. You could also treat the wood directly with Boracare. You will use a 5:1 ratio. This will last for the life of the wood.

We would also recommend that you check out our Termite Guide. It has very useful information and tips on how to treat and prevent termites.

  • Asked by Dennis from Prescott, Az
    08/17/2015
    Q
How wet do I spray Termidor SC: just fog it or real wet?
    A

When apply Termidor SC as a perimeter spray, apply at a rate of 1.5 gallons of solution per 1,000 square feet, using 0.8 ounces of concentrate per gallon of water. You should spray to evenly cover with a low-pressure coarse spray, so you do not need to drench the areas you are treating. Termidor SC should be used in a pressurized sprayer, not in any type of fogging or misting machine. For general perimeter treatments with Termidor SC, see the last two pages of the product label.

    Q
Can Termidor SC be sprayed in a yard to help kill ticks?
    A

Termidor SC is labeled for use on ticks, but it does have a very limited area that it can be used. You can use Termidor SC outdoors only, immediately adjacent or directly on your home. It cannot be used as a broadcast in the yard for tick control. We would recommend our Outdoor Flea and Tick Kit

    Q
    How to apply Termidor SC?
    A
Application of Termidor varies, depending on what you are treating. For Termites, please see Barrier treatments. For ants you will need to apply Termidor SC 1-2 ft up the foundation and 1-2 ft out onto the ground, around door frames, window frames, places where cables, pipes or wires go through the wall and any other crack or crevice where the ants can gain entry into your home.
