    Q
is it possible to mix termodor sc with quickset concrete to control insects outside
    A
You cannot mix Termidor SC with concrete for insect control. Termidor SC can be used in the soil under concrete or you can drill holes through the concrete to reach the soil but it cannot be mixed with the concrete itself. Please read the Termidor SC product label for a full listing of the ways Termidor SC can be used.

    Q
I have "Crazy Raspberry" Ants. They are tearing up my wiring in my well and septic.
They are able to out-compete fire ants because they reproduce faster. The ants are not attracted to ordinary ant baits, are not controlled by over-the-counter pesticides, and are harder to fully exterminate because their colonies have multiple queens. (Taken from Wikipedia) I have read that the only type of pesticide which will kill them is fipronil. Does your MaxForce product have this pesticide in it? I didn't see it listed on the product sheet
    A
I believe the Fipronil product they were referring to was Termidor SC. Termidor SC used outdoors and Phantom used indoors have been the most effective products to control crazy Raspberry Ants. Ant baits (including the maxforce product that contains fipronil) and synthetic pyrethroid insecticides do not seem to do an effective job controlling this ant species. Texas A&M University has done extensive research regarding these ants and you can find detailed articles on their extension website.

    Q
Is 6 inches deep enough when trenching? How come drilled holes have to be deeper?
I am getting more confident in being able to tackle trenching and drilling for Termidor. I noticed that the guide states when you are drilling around the foundation, the deeper you go, the better. How come this is not the case for trenching? Do sub-termites not live deeper than 6 inches into the soil? And what is the recommended method in pouring Termidor down the drilled foundation, should you use a funnel?
    A
The trench should be 6" x 6" as stated in the product label as the large volume of dilution will go deeper than the 6" (the termites usually come closer to the surface to forage as that is where the wood will come into contact with the soil). The drilled holes should be deeper because you are trying to pump in such a large volume of diluted product into a tiny space and the deeper the thin hole the easier it will be for the product to disperse into the soil.

    Q
I work for a termite company in CA. They try to make me treat in the rain. What is the law in CA?
I know the label stats "do not treat while precipitation is occurring" however my company who will remain annoymus is trying to say as long as the soil is protected by the eves of the house is okay to treat.. please let me know I don't want to break the law and risk having my Branch 2 and 3 revoked. and plus a fine or jail time.
    A
The law varies greatly in each state and we are located in Georgia and are unfamiliar with the law in California. You should contact the department of agriculture in your state and ask for their expertise on this law.

    Q
I've been using Termidor SC in one tank for about 5 years now, and there seems to be a rotten egg smell.
seems like it only does it at the start of each new job after the tank has set up overnight. maybe some of the product was left in the hose. is there anyone else complaining about this. thank you
    A
We have never heard of any one reporting this smell. Perhaps their is a high sulfur content in the water you are using. We recommend making sure you triple rinse the tank and hoses after use.

    Q
I had the outside of my home trenched and treated with Termidor and it rained 8 hours later.
Will effectiveness of termidor be weakened?
    A
If the Termidor did not have a chance to dry completely it could have been effected by the rain. We recommend you contact BASF directly and ask what they recommend you do in this situation. You can reach BASF by calling 800-526-1072

    Q
Can I use Termidor SC within my basement floor?
I had two professionals come out to give me a quote for termites and they threw out $1300 dollars wow...So I want to try it myself my question is can I use the product within my basement floor? the professionals said that they were going to drill inside and outside where they thought it needed. I've read that you shouldn't use it inside the house.
    A
Yes, you can apply Termidor to drilled holes in your basement. The only permissible ways Termidor can be used indoors is when it is applied to drilled holes or wall voids.

    Q
Just had a treatment of Termidor and my veggie garden was "injected" too because of proximity. Can I re-plant?
The soil from the garden is against the house. We removed the plants for the treatment. Can they be replanted in the same spot?
    A
No. You will be disrupting the barrier allowing termites to gain access to your home if you displace/disturb the soil to plant the garden. You will also be contaminating the vegetable plants as well by using the treated soil.

  • Asked by Josh from Ohio

    Q
Is Termidor affected by herbicides/weed killers that I would use in the flower bed next to my house?
I need to kill the weeds in my flower beds but I'm afraid to apply any killer in liquid or granule form because I don't know if it will negatively affect my Termidor treatment I had done a year ago.
    A
We don't think the herbicides will be a problem with the Termidor. The problem will be if plants are growing through that barrier treatment and disturbing the barrier that was put into place.

    Q
I have hear that Termidor warranties their product against termite damage, is this true?
If Termidor does warranty their product against termite damage, does it only apply if installed by a professional?
    A
This would normally only apply if a professional has treated your home, as the manufacturer can not be liable for any damage when they are not there to make sure you do the treatment properly. If you would like further information you can always contact the manufacturer BASF at 1-800-526-1072.

    Q
I want to make my own wood bait. What mixture would I use Termidor SC and water? Dry wood first or use wet?
I want to soak 30 pieces of pine wood 1/2" X 1 1/2" X 6" in Termidor SC and then place them in the ground around my house. Assuming I will use a 5 gallon bucket, what is the highest Termidor SC and water mixture concentration I can use so that the wood is soaked thoroughly with termiticide and still remain a nonrepellant and undetectable to termites? Is it best to place the wood outside and air dry the pieces after soaking or simply place them into the ground immediately after the soaking treatment?
    A
Termidor SC is not labeled to be used in the manner that you have described and we do not recommend you use it in this manner. Instead we recommend that you read our article How to do a liquid termite barrier treatment so you can understand how the product should be used so that is effective for termite control. If you still want to try to use it to make your own baits you should contact the manufacturer BASF for more information. You can reach BASF by calling 800-526-1072.

    Q
How does the home owner protect his home from termites?
    A
Please check out our article Barrier and Soil Treatments. This article gives you a step by step guide to treating and preventing termites. Termidor works so well, because whenn it is applyed in the ground, it actually binds with the soil, providing protection for us up to 10 years.

  • Asked by Steve from Paris, Il

    Q
I have an attached deck and cannot get under it to trench along the foundation. How should I handle this?
    A
The best treatment option for this area is to just pull the boards closest to the house up and trench the dirt and then nail the boards back down. If you are unable to pull the boards up you have two other possible options. You would need to treat this as a concrete area that you will need to drill through just like a garage or driveway that might be in the way of trenching. You can try trenching all the way around the deck but you are still left with the possibility of the termites being able to come up the foundation in the untreated area under the deck. Please see the instructions for drilling holes in concrete in our How To Do A Termite Treatment guide for tips on this application.

    Q
Do I need to have Termidor applied inside the house with perimeter treatment ?
Right now I do not have termites, it's all preventive. By inside the house I mean foam around pipes, under the sink, etc.
    A
Termidor is only labeled to be used inside for spot treatments. You can use Termidor as a preventative outdoors and a generally residual insecticide like talstar for indoor perimeter treatment for all different types of insects.
