    Q
Can Termidor SC be used to kill ant beds?
SPECIFICALLY BEDS OUT IN THE YARD NOT AGAINST TH HOUSE?
    A
Yes, Termidor will treat ant beds. You can use Termidor as a spot treatment to those beds and where the ants are trailing. Termidor kills by transfer, so when the foraging ants come out and come in contact with the Termidor, they will transfer the active ingredient throughout the ant colony.

    Q
How far away from a body of water should you be to safely treat with Termidor SC?
    A
The exact distance you need to be from a body of water is not specified on the Termidor SC product label. When using Termidor SC, it is the applicators responsibility to make absolutely sure that runoff or overspray cannot enter a body water. You can help ensure this by not using Termidor SC on windy or rainy days or on embankments near the water. The Termidor SC product label states that you cannot use Termidor SC closer than 5 feet from a well or cistern and we feel that same guideline should be followed for other bodies of water as well.

    Q
Will Termidor SC kill subterranean termites in the ground?
    A
Yes. Termidor SC is non-repellent product, which means that the termites cannot sense the product and therefore cannot avoid treated areas. Once the termite passes through the treated area, it inadvertently picks up small particles of the Termidor SC on the hairs of its body and carries it back to the colony. Through normal social interaction such as grooming and feeding the infected termite spreads the Termidor SC to its colony mates. After a short period of time, the termites start to die.

    Q
Can I use Termidor to treat bathtub drain trap if termites were present?
    A
Yes, you can.  Termidor can be used indoors but only as a spot treatment where you have termites in a wall void or a plumbing access.  Typically on a bath trap you would pour 1 gallon of solution over the trap into the soil.

    Q
Does Termidor work at home on scorpions?
If sprayed on outside of home as a residual will it keep scorpions out?
    A
Termidor is not labeled to treat scorpions and will not kill them quickly at all.  Therefore it will not prevent scorpions from getting in your home.  We recommend using Equil Lambda that is in our Scorpion Control Kit.  It has a much quicker kill than Termidor and will last longer outdoors than Termidor will.

    Q
Vegetables (tomatoes, chiles, squash etc) sprayed with Termidor SC, poison you if eaten?
Does the Termidor SC seep into the ground and then penetrate the roots of vegetables thus poisoning them?
    A

We are not sure if are asking if you can use Termidor SC on edible vegetables or if you accidentally treated near a garden, but Termidor SC should not under any circumstances be applied near or on anything edible.  You should keep Termidor treatments at least 10 feet away from any garden.  If you treated on or near your garden, you should discard anything that may be contaminated with Termidor SC.  If you are looking for something to treat your garden with, we do have many products that are for use on gardens.

    Q
What product do you recommend to kill ghost ants inside and outside the house?
I see ghost ants enter the house through weep holes around the house. They are also visible on the vegetation (vegetable and fruit trees) plants. Is there any product (in liquid) that can be applied inside and outside the house and the vegetation area.
    A
The most effective way to get rid of ants will be to use a product that will not only kill the ants that actually come into contact with treated surfaces but will also be transferred back to the nest. There are a variety of liquid concentrates that work with a transfer effect such as Termidor SC, Taurus SC, Dominion 2L and Adonis 2F. All of these products are for use outdoors only and should be sprayed directly on or immediately adjacent to the structure for ant control (they cannot be used indoors and they cannot be broadcast sprayed outdoors and they cannot be used on edible vegetation). You can also use ant baits indoors and outdoors for ghost ant control. Ant Baits will be picked up by the foraging ants and carried back to the nesting area and shared. Most folks choose to use a combination of products. They use ant baits indoors and in sensitive areas and they use the liquid concentrates outdoors.

    Q
I got a 20oz bottle of TERMIDOR from you for termites and notice on the label its also good for carpenter ants
YOU RECOMMEND cARPENTER ANT KIT #2 W/dOMINION 2l AS THE BEST FOR THE APPLICATION....ARE EITHER OK FOR A PREVENTION JOB?
    A
Both Termidor and Dominion work the same way and are great on ants.  We offer Dominion 2L in our carpenter ant kit mainly because it is cheaper than Termidor and many of our customers are looking for low cost alternatives.  Both products work great for carpenter ants.

  • Asked by Laryy from Rushville, Il
    07/08/2015
    Q
How much Termidor SC do I apply to each hole in a cement block foundation a termite application?
    A

When treating a block foundation with Termidor SC, you should drill a hole in each void so there would be 2 holes per block.  The holes should be no more than 18 inches high.  Usually, you want to drill on the second row of blocks high from the ground.  In addition to drilling the holes, you should also trench and treat the outside foundation wall and the inside foundation wall if you have a crawl space.  After drilling the holes, you are supposed to apply 2 gallons of solution per 10 lineal feet into the blocks.  For filling trenches and drill holes going vertically into slabs, you should apply 4 gallons per 10 lineal feet.  Please let us know if you have any further questions. • Asked by Chuck from Billings Mo

    Q
Can I mix/spray Termidor SC in the same equipment that I use for Talstar P?
    A

If the equipment has been tripled rinsed and the nozzle and wand have been rinsed out, you can use them in the same sprayer just not at the same time. Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide. This means the insects cannot tell that it is there and they will readily walk over treated areas. Termidor SC also has a delayed reaction time and a transfer effect which allows them time to get back to the colony and spread it around before they succumb to the effects of the product. Talstar P on the other hand is synthetic pyrethroid which many sensitive insects such as ants can detect. Insects may avoid the areas treated with Talstar and those that do cross over treated areas are the only ones that will be killed by the product. Talstar P does not have a transfer effect so it will not be transferred back to the colony. While the Termidor SC will not actually be deactivated by Talstar P, it will be much less effective if it is over-sprayed with Talstar P. You can spray Talstar P on your trees, bushes and lawn for mosquito control as long as you are not actually overlapping the areas where Termidor SC was applied.

    Q
If you use Termidor SC in a crawl space, do you need protective gear?
We will be treating ourselves and need to know if we need protective gear (face mask, etc) to use in the crawl space.
    A

You should wear chemical resistant gloves, long sleeve shirt, long pants and close toed shoes when applying Termidor. If you are applying the product in a non-ventilated area, a respirator is will be needed. Termidor is a safe product for most folks to use. We do encourage our customers to read the product label and the MSDS before they purchase a product to be sure they will be comfortable using it.

    Q
If Taurus SC is the same as Termidor SC why pay more?

It is completely up to what you prefer, some people are more infatuated with the name brand product Termidor SC but they are the same product and work in the same manner so it is completely left to what you prefer to go with.

    Q
How many times can Termidor SC be applied per month?
    A

The number of times Termidor SC is applied depends on the ratio that is used. At the .03% rate, the product can be used four times a year. The other option is to apply three times a year at the ratios of .03% twice and .06% once. We would recommend checking out the Supplemental Document for this product for any more information.

  • Asked by James from Angier, Nc
    03/25/2016
    Q
Can I drill the slab and pour Termidor SC in the holes to treat the problem?
I have a flying infestation of termites in my garage.
    A

Yes, you can drill into the slab and apply product. When performing a termite treatment and treating concrete slabs, the holes should be drilled about 2-3 inches away from the house, and 10 inches apart.  Typically a 1/2 inch drill bit is used.  You can fill the holes using a funnel or a one gallon hand pump sprayer with the nozzle turned so the sprayer shoots out a pinstream.  You are supposed to apply 4 gallons per 10 feet in the drill holes as well as the trench.  This is very hard to do.  Usually you would just fill the holes and then come back 30 minutes later after the soil beneath the slab has soaked up the product and fill the holes up again.  Do this 3 times and then patch the holes or use our Trebor Plugs

We would also recommend doing a trench around the entire structure. You will dig a 6 by 6 inch trench and pour 4 gallons of solution per 10 lineal feet. This can be done with Termidor SC as well.

  • Asked by Per from Central, Nj
    06/11/2018
    Q
Will Termidor uptake into plants and affect pollinators or other insects?
I plan to do a termite treatment around the house foundation were I have plants with flowers within a minimum of 2 ft of the treatment area. Once Termidor has dried and bound to the soil, will Termidor continue to uptake into the plant and harm the pollinator insects such at bees?
    A

Termidor SC contains fipronil, which is not well absorbed by plants when it is applied to the soil.  If fipronil does get into plants, it can partially break down, reducing any risk of translocating. According to the maufacturer, it is best to not apply Termidor within one foot of the drip line of edibles but does not mention ornamentals.

    Q
Is Termidor SC harmful to bees or birds?
    A

Once Termidor SC has dried, it should not be harmful to people, pets or wildlife.  It can be toxic for bees if they come in contact with treated areas once it has dried.  To lessen this risk, apply in the morning or evening when bees are least active.  Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Travis from Granada Hills
    08/23/2018
    Q
How do I apply Termidor SC if there is concrete around my house ?
    A

If you are doing a trench application for termites and there is concrete surrounding the foundation, then holes will need to be drilled all around the home to properly apply the Termidor SC.  The holes need to be drilled every 10-12 inches apart, 18 inches in depth to reach the soil beneath the concrete and anywhere from 3/8 inch – ½ inch in diameter.  Please refer to our Termite Treatment Guide for a more in depth step by step on how to treat your home for subterranean termites.
