The Tomahawk Model E40 is an excluder with a one way door designed for squirrels, rats and similar sized animals. Excluders are designed to let animals remove themselves from unwanted areas. Excluders have mounting wings which allow them to be attached directly over the animals' entry/exit hole. The one way door lets animals exit but prevents them from returning. Model E40 is constructed from 1/2" x 1" - 16 gauge galvanized wire mesh, measures 11L x 4W x 4H and weighs 1 lb.

I had red squirrels in my attic, then days later we could not hear them anymore so I blocked the place they were using to get in, then we could hear one chewing on the block that blocked the hole, the Tomahawk Excluder arrived and I put it over the hole and they could leave but not get back in. I did not know but I had blocked one in that was why chewing

Great trap !

I knew I had a squirrel problem I was hearing them in my eves. I bought the trap put it over the entrance hole and in the first day I caught 3 squirrels the next day another, total of 4 squirrels in less than 2 days ! Thank you domyown now I can get some sleep !!

Easy fix

We installed this after an extra noisy squirrel night. No noises since- hopefully they left. My spot is hard to access, and thankfully the Excluder was easy to install. We had to actually redesign it a bit since our entry hole was above the Excluder. We folded 3 sides straight and wired a bit of wire screen along the far end. It closed it trap up nicely. When we get a break in the weather, I'll tie the trap door shut with a piece of wire instead of taking it down as recommended. (Squirrels are smart and I don't want to trust that they won't figure the trap door out if I give them too much time.) That way we can use the Excluder again there if squirrels come back.

The Tomahawk Excluder One Way Door E40 is a one-way door only: it does not trap the animal inside it. So this excluder can work for multiple animals as long as it is in place. If you want to trap the animal(s) inside, then you may consider the Tomahawk Excluder One Way Door Easy Release Door for Squirrels & similar sized animals - Model E40D which is a trap with an easy-release door on the other end. Another option is the SP40 - Squirrel Pack Squirrel Removal System includes (1) model E40 Excluder and (2) model SPT40 Repeating Traps which has the Excluder plus 2 repeating traps (one to keep on the excluder while you are relocating the captured animals).

I broke the clip on the one I received.
The squirrels are coming in from a hole in the floor under a wall and travelling back and forth
E40 Excluder with One Way Door for squirrel, rat & similar sized animals must be mounted horizontally to function properly. So no, you cannot mount this vertically to a ceiling.
