Product Overview

Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide is effective in killing over 20 different woody species and preventing sprouting of cut trees in non-crop areas like forests, right-of-ways, roadsides, and fence rows. Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide is a ready-to-use (RTU) product that requires no measuring or mixing and is simple to use. Simply put it into a spray bottle and spray. Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide makes it easy to see where you have been with a convenient blue dye that marks each stump or tree you spray.

Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide works by translocating through the tree and into the root system to prevent resprouts. The no freeze formulation makes working in cold weather easy.

Tordon RTU should not be applied on residential or commercial lawns or near desirable trees and shrubs.

    Wonderful Product

    By Andrew on 07/12/2016

Weeds die fast. Some within hours of application start to wilt. Application on weeds in grass killed them WITHOUT hurting grass

    Residual long term collateral damage

    By Tothetune on 04/02/2019

Applied to sissoo stump 8/2014, trees 15 feet away still showing signs of damage 4 1/2 years later. Hot climate (AZ) did not help it degrade evidently. Would never use again. Have used roundup concentrate on stumps without issue.

    Tordon Herbicide

    By Jenny on 10/25/2019

I have been fighting elm tree seedlings for years. I discovered this product and am very pleased with the effective termination of unwanted trees. It was so effective that I ordered more! I vigilantly wear latex gloves to apply and with the dispenser cap provided, it is easy to pour directly onto the growth ring of a fresh cut tree. My only problem is finding a good chain saw person to follow around my properties to really get them all!!!

Q
Will Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide kill a 100 year old Black Walnut Tree?
A

Tordon RTU Spray is not labeled for Walnut Trees therefore we cannot confirm if it would be effective in killing the tree. Black Walnut tree roots can spread out 50-80ft from the tree and are known for resprouting. The most recommended treatment is to cut the stump as low to the ground as possible and apply a product with the active ingredient Glyphosate directly to the freshly cut stump. Direct stump treatments is going to be your best option and will take several months and maybe longer since this tree is so old. Roundup QuickPRO has Diquat as 1 of the 2 ingredients works for a faster knockdown and absorbs throughout the root system better. Drilling into the stump is also sometimes done for the herbcide to absorb quicker into the tree.
