Details

DESCRIPTION:Victor Rat traps work very well and kill rats instantly. They are strong and durable enough to kill even the largest rats with ease. Victor Rat snap traps work best when baited with sticky bait (i.e. peanut butter) to ensure that the rat will disturb the trigger mechanism even if the rat touches the bait only lightly. 1 case = 12 traps.

HOW TO SET THE TRAP:
1. Remove small staple holding locking bar to wood base.
2. Place bait inside curl found at end of bait pedal. Remove excess bait protruding from pedal.
3. Pull back bow and hold down with thumb.
4. With other hand, engage curved portion of the locking bar under small, V-shaped lip on bait pedal.
5. Place trap against wall with bait pedal facing the wall.
6. If trap draws ants, try using a small ball of cotton or strands of dental floss tied through hole in bait pedal curl.

How to Use Victor Rat Traps Effectively:
Most trapping efforts fail because too few mouse traps or rat traps are used. You'll probably need more traps then you think. Set enough Victor traps to kill most of the population before the rodents begin to shy away from the traps. We recommend placing the traps every 2-3 feet along a wall, with the trap placed perpindicular to the wall. Rodents enter a home through holes the size of a dime and run along walls, not over open spaces.
1. Place traps perpendicular to the wall.
2. Place traps out unset, without bait, for a few days (even 1-2 weeks) so rodents can become familiar with them.
3. Place traps where rodent activity is seen (sign of chewing, droppings, runway, burrow).
4. Leave traps undisturbed for at least two days before moving to a new location.
5. Check traps daily and replace as needed.
6. Wear gloves when disposing of rodent.

Baits: These baits are favorites for mice and rats:

Mouse Bait: Peanut Butter, Cheese, Oats, Nesting Materials, Chocolate, Water (for live catch)

Rat Bait: Peanut Butter, Bacon, Fruits, Vegetables, Cereals, Meats, Acorns (Wood Rat)

    Setting the trap

    By Joy on 05/29/2010

This is the very best video to show exactly how to set the trap!!!! I was setting it wrong and wondering why the trap would be tripped and the bait gone. Thanks soooooooo very much for your help! By the way I caught a 14 inch rat (without the tail) that had been eating the insulation of my house and coming up around the pipes! This trap works very well and is inexpensive!!!!! Joy

Best rat traps - best deal

    By Marco on 12/05/2010

    Verified Purchase

My neighbor bought me some cheapo made in China rat traps and they have yet to catch anything. You almost have to step on them to set them off. My grandparents had these traps and they were always the traps that caught rats. The trigger is very sensitive (best design I've seen) and the trap is made with quality parts and a solid piece of wood. If you are thinking about buy some traps these are the ones to buy. Even if you're not looking for a dozen traps, it's worth the extra money because you'll get the rat(s) you're looking for in no time.

DoMyOwnPestControl had the best price on the Internet that I could find for these Victor wooden rat traps. And as the advertising at the top of their web page says, "Fast, Free shipping". Fantastic! A big plus to me. Thought these wooden Victor's were lost to me forever. Not so - thanks to your great service.

Q
Which rat trap is better and more durable, the Victor M200 or the Victor M326?
A
Both rat traps are made by Victor and both are very durable and strong. The Victor M326 has a larger bait pedal that resembles cheese (though it can be baited with anything), is easier to set then normal traps, and also has a sensitivity setting that will prevent the trap from snapping due to vibrations in the environment, such as those caused by heavy machinery. The Victor M200 is the traditional wooden rat trap.

Q
What's the difference between item M210 & this one M200?
A
We do not carry the M210 so we could not tell you what the true difference is between the items, if any. From our research it looks like the M210 is a model number used for ones sold in big box stores like Home Depot so this could be their product code for it. You can contact Victor at 1-800-800-1819 to find out what the differences would be between the two.

Q
Does the metal trigger plate differ from metal trigger plate pictured here?

I'm interested in one shown in video.

A
The trap shown in the video is the Victor Rat Trap M200. The picture on the M200 page is just from a different angle but all the features are the same.
