    Q
How do I test holes to entry housing to make sure the Victor Tin Cat is working properly?
    A

This is complicated to explain via email but we will do our best. If you open the lid to the Victor Tin cat you will see the two mechanisms that are the "traps". The doors only work one way. As the mice enter the trap the lever acts as a see-saw. The inner lever goes down allowing them to enter the …

    Q
What bait do I use to catch mice in a Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308?
    A

Popular attractants for mice on snap traps or in live traps such as the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308 include pet food, canned meat, bacon, nuts, cereal, peanut butter, or formulated attractants such as Provoke Mouse Attractant or Propest Rat and Mouse Lure. Rodent attractants typically do not cont…

    Q
Can the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap be used for trapping lizards as well?
I have geckos/lizards all over the house, especially outside. I know they are good bug eaters, but I would prefer bugs over them. Please let me know if they can also be placed outside with the glue traps. Thanks
    A

The Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap can be used outdoors with glue traps inside. They probably would not work very well to catch lizards, however. The lizard would need to go into the trap and weigh down the ramp and then enter the trap to be captured. A better choice would be to purchase glue boards such…

    Q
Mice don't trigger snap traps-- will the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap work?
I have been unsuccessful in using several varieties of snap traps as the mice lick them clean without triggering them-- even just tiny dabs of lure or peanut butter. I don't mind live trapping and wonder if this product may be the direction I need to go.
    A

Yes, if you are wanting to go with a live trap then the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308 would be a good one to use.  Another option on a snap trap if you haven't tried already is the Revenge Press & Set Mouse Traps that has a bait well instead of a pedal and would be harder for them to just …

  • Asked by Charlene from Manchester, Michigan

    Q
Will I ever get to a point where I'm not catching any more mice with the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308?
I am regularly catching mice with the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap purchased from you in April, at least 1 per day. The mice are full-grown. I have stuffed stainless steel wool into crevices where utilities enter the house, but am worried they are still finding a way in. The worst infestation is in my kitchen cupboards and under-sink area, which is where I put the trap. No food is stored there (I have a separate pantry for that, and I have not seen mice or mice droppings there). I do keep a covered compost jug under the sink and have continued to do that, thinking it will attract the mice, who then find the baited trap. Could I have had an infestation of 200+ mice? Any suggestions?
    A

You should continue trapping with the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap as long as you still see mouse activity. We would suggest using multiple traps, but if you are happy with what you have so far, then you may continue with that plan. Mice breed quickly and do not require much food to thrive, so it …

    Q
Does the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308 ever accidentally kill mice?
I definitely want a humane trap & I've read some other traps that accidentally kill or maim.
    A

Mice will enter the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308, triggering a lever that will trap them in a holding area inside. It is not designed to kill them unless you place a glueboard inside.

  • Asked by Holly from Templeton, Ca

    Q
How do you adjust older M308 traps to keep mice from escaping?
The traps work for awhile and then allow mice to escape. Resorting to glue traps is inhumane. Is there no way to clean these or adjust the door mechanism? It's getting expensive to keep replacing them.

I had great success when I first used my Victor tin can trap but now the mice are getting out.
The trap looks the same inside but the mice escaping. They are leaving behind droppings and eating my bait. Help!
    A

There is a lever that is triggered in the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap when mice enter. Once they enter, they should not be able to get back out. Are you able to see if possibly the lever is damaged in any way causing them access to be able to escape?

    Q
What is the best way to see if a mouse is in the Tin Cat Mouse Trap?
It's hard to see thru the small opening.

The Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308 has a clear lid that you should be able to look right through from standing height without even getting close to the trap. We are unsure what small opening you are referencing to be able to answer you more specifically. If you are using the trap with a glueboard in…

    Q
What do you recommend cleaning a Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308 with after years of use?
I work in a factory with 320 of these. They get pretty dirty after awhile. Also what to lubricate mouse door shutters without repelling mice?
    A

We do not recommend using any additional cleaning or lubricating products with Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308. Cleaning products could deter the rodents. We recommend using a plain paper towel to wipe out the traps.

  • Asked by Djl from Garrison, Ny
    07/27/2015
    Q
What poison product would you recommend for use in the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap M308?
Glue boards are too slow to kill. I prefer a fast-acting poison but also something relatively non-toxic other animals such as birds that may eat the remains. Is there such a thing?
    A

Rat X is a very good rodenticide that is made from 100% natural ingredients. This can be used inside of the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap. Keep in mind that the Victor Tin Cat Mouse Trap is not suitable for outdoor use as it is not weatherproof and is not designed to secure bait from non-target animals.…
