Enjoy your summer without worrying about aggressive yellow jackets invading your outdoor spaces. The DoMyOwn Yellow Jacket Bait Station Kit with Cy-Kick CS provides a simple, effective solution for reducing yellow jacket activity around your home. One kit includes enough insecticide concentrate for multiple seasons of use, so you can continue using the reusable bait stations year after year without needing to purchase additional traps or stations.
Each kit includes:
Prepare a bait by mixing 100 grams of a protein-based attractant—such as canned tuna or another recommended food—with 2 grams of Cy-Kick CS. Fill each bait station with the mixture and hang the stations around the perimeter of your home in locations that are inaccessible to children but easily reached by yellow jackets.
The bait lures foraging yellow jackets into the stations, where they contact and consume the treated bait. As the insects return to the colony, they can help spread the insecticide, reducing the population and often providing noticeable results within a few days. Additional PFT Hanging Bait Stations are available separately if you need to expand your treatment area.
Not all yellow jacket species are attracted to protein-based food sources. Some species do not scavenge and may ignore bait stations altogether. Before adding Cy-Kick CS, it's a good idea to test a few bait options by placing untreated bait in the stations to confirm the yellow jackets are feeding from them.

The Yellow Jacket Bait Station Kit with Cy-Kick CS combines reusable bait stations with a microencapsulated insecticide to help manage yellow jackets—also known as meat bees—in areas where they become a nuisance. The kit is suitable for use around residential properties, restaurants, campgrounds, resorts, zoos, and other outdoor locations where yellow jackets commonly interfere with people or animals.
Before adding insecticide, test several bait options to determine what your local yellow jackets prefer. Different colonies may be attracted to different food sources depending on the time of year.
Early in the season, yellow jackets are typically searching for protein-rich foods such as fish or raw chicken to feed developing larvae in the nest. This is often the most effective time to use protein baits because foraging workers are more likely to carry food back to the colony. Protein baits also help reduce the chance of attracting honey bees, which generally prefer sugary foods and should be protected whenever possible.
Later in the season, yellow jackets often shift toward carbohydrates and sweet liquids to meet their energy needs. At that point, sugary options like cola, fruit juice, or similar beverages may produce better results.
To determine the preferred bait, place several untreated protein and carbohydrate options in the bait stations for a day or two. Once you've identified the bait that attracts the most yellow jackets, prepare a treated mixture using Cy-Kick CS according to the product label. Avoid using more insecticide than directed, as excessive amounts may reduce bait acceptance.
Example bait options:
Mix your selected bait with Cy-Kick CS following the labeled rate of 2 grams of Cy-Kick CS for 100 grams of bait. Only a small amount of insecticide is needed for effective baiting. Using more than the recommended amount will not improve performance and may discourage yellow jackets from feeding on the bait.
Add a few ounces of the treated bait to each station and hang them outdoors approximately 5 to 6 feet above the ground. Space the stations about 50 feet apart around the treatment area. Tree branches, fence posts, or other elevated locations work well. Always position the stations where children cannot reach them while still allowing yellow jackets easy access.
Check the stations regularly and replenish the bait as needed. Replace the bait when it has been consumed, after approximately one week, or sooner if it becomes moldy or otherwise deteriorates.
