Unfortunately, we cannot give advice using Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide for any golf turf due to the sensitive nature of the turf and the liability if the turf gets damaged. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Mixing three different post-emergent herbicides together at once would put a lot of stress on your desirable grass and usually would not be recommended.
The addition of a surfactant such as the Non-Ionic Surfactant for Herbicides will improve coverage per the product label for Acclaim.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide can be tank mixed with Tenacity and other pre and post emergent herbicides as well as insecticides and fungicides.
Please refer to DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF ACCLAIM IN TANK MIXES section on page 3 of the product label for instructions on how to test compatibility.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is a post emergent for when weeds are actively growing. Japanese Stiltgrass is best control using post emergents mid May through August and for pre/post emergent applications, the best time is early March through May.
When intending to tank mix various herbicides, including Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide and Sedgehammer Herbicide, both product labels should be referred to regarding tank mixture restrictions, always adhering to the most restrictive label. If tank mixtures are not prohibited on the labels, mixing a small jar test for compatibility purposes is recommended, prior to mixing a full tank.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is labeled to suppress Bermuda grass and is often used primarily to kill out Bermuda from cool-season lawns. So, it is not surprising that this would damage your desirable Bermuda.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide will not kill poa annua as it is listed as a tolerant grass type on the product label.
Because poa annua(annual bluegrass) and cool season turfgrasses such as fescue are so closely related, there are very few products that will kill the Poa Annua without also harming the Fescue. The only one we are currently aware of is called Prograss, and it is very expensive. Your other options would be to either spot-treat with a Roundup-type product and then reseed with the Fescue in those areas, or you can use a pre-emergent like Prodiamine 65 WDG in the fall to prevent the poa from growing in the first place.
We highly recommend doing a Tank Compatibility test when used together in one application. Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is great for Johnsongrass and Crabgrass and Sedgehammer Herbicide is the best product for nutsedge control. The Acclaim label states it is compatible with other herbicides, yet the Sedgehammer Herbicide only states it can be tank mixed with Glyphosate. You will find the compatibility test on page 4 of the Acclaim Extra label, follow these instructions to see if both products can be used together. If you find that the Acclaim and Sedgehammer are not compatible, then you may spot treat with the Sedgehammer where the nutsedge is growing.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide can be used with a dye such as Turf Mark Blue or Monterey Mark It Blue. Take a look at all of our spray indicatiors here.
Acclaim Extra Herbicide may be applied to newly plugged zoysiagrass, per the product label. Broadleaf herbicides such as 2,4-D or MCPP may reduce the effectiveness of Acclaim Extra Herbicide. Do not apply Acclaim Extra within 21 days following a 2,4-D or MCPP application, or 5 days before a 2,4-D or MCPP application. There are no restrictions for use with other grass killers such as Drive XLR8, however, we would recommend testing a small area before treating the whole yard if you are using these two products at the same time or within a few days of one another to be sure there is not extra sensitivity in your desired turfgrass.
Acclaim will be most successful on goosegrass when it is newly emerged in the 1 to 2 leaf stages. You can retreat at 14-21 day intervals through the growing season without exceeding 10 applications per growing season.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is not labeled for poison ivy. You may want to consider a product like Bonide Poison Ivy and Brush Killer instead.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is not labeled to be applied in pastures. Depending on what you are treating, for Martins Clear pasture would be a great option.
Acclaim Extra cannot be used in pastures where horses graze. Unfortunately we are not aware of a product that is safe for use in pastures that will kill Japanese stiltgrass. We would recommend contacting your local agricultural department for advice on what others in your area how found effective.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide will supress johnsongrass. Pastora Herbicide can be used in Tall Fescue pastures and for johnsongrass. Check with your state extension or Department of Agriculture before use, to be certain Pastora is registered in your state.
Acclaim Extra is compatible in tank mixes with many other commonly used herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers. We always recommend that you test a small, inconspicuous area first before mixing any products together.
Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide is labeled to control sandbur but does not list bahiagrass as a tolerable turf species for application. Are you seeking post control or preventative application?
Acclaim is not labeled to be used on any edibles at all. If you can give us more information about what type(s) of weeds you need to treat for, we can help you find a product that will fit your needs.
