As difficult as it can be to see a roach and not kill it, that is the ideal approach when baiting with Advion Cockroach bait gel or using transfer products that are designed to get carried back to the nest. While killing a few here and there will not heavily impact your results, you would want to try and allow those you see out foraging for food to live and take the bait back to the ones in hiding at the source of your problem.
The Advion Roach Bait Gel should be applied once every two weeks (cleaning up old bait placements prior to new applications) to keep the roaches attracted to the product. Depending on the size of the colony, it can take at least several weeks to a month or so to eliminate the entire population. If you have used the same bait for several months, then we would recommend rotating with a different bait to prevent bait aversion. Good rotation choices would include Maxforce FC Magnum or Maxforce Impact Roach Bait Gel.You can see our Roach Control Guide to go over all of the steps necessary to eliminate an entire roach population, as techniques beyond baiting will be needed for success.

It is normal for some roaches to not go directly to a bait such as Advion Roach Bait Gel and eat it. It can often be that they are feeding on some that has been brought back to the colony already, feeding on the feces of the adults, or feeding on other dead roaches. They also could be looking for water or other materials and not currently foraging for the bait. Depending on the size of the colony, it can take at least several weeks to a month or so to eliminate the entire population. If you have used the same bait for several months, than we would recommend rotating with a different bait to prevent bait aversion. Good rotation choices would include Maxforce FC Magnum or Maxforce Impact Roach Bait Gel.

It is recommended when treating for roaches to use an aggressive treatment program using a combination of a residual spray, roach bait and insect growth regulator as found in our Roach Control Kits. These kits Roach Control Kits provide enough product for the initial treatment and follow up treatments that are required every 10-14 days. The kits are set up on a rotation program - Rotation Kit A is a good clean out treatment to start with for an aggressive approach to treatment. After 60 days, you can rotate to Kit B or Kit C if continued treatments are necessary.
For Roach Treatments, sanitation is key to a successful program, chemicals can only do so much so you need to be aggressive and consistent with treating. Please review our Roach Treatment Guide for more important information for a succesful treatment program.

We would recommend Greenway Pantry Patrol Insect Trap for beetles as it covers a broader spectrum of beetle pests including: Red Flour Beetle, Confused Flour Beetle, Indian Meal Moth, Warehouse Beetle, Cigarette Beetle, Mediterranean Flour Moth, Tobacco Moth, Rice Weevil, Saw-Toothed Grain Beetle.

When you notice more roaches attracted to the bait that is normal and an indication that the product is working. The attractants lure them to the locations you placed the bait in your structure in order for the product to be accepted and effective. Rotating with other baits aside from Advion would be advised every 90 days for an integrated pest management.
For active roach infestations, using a roach bait alone will not eliminate them. It is recommended to use a combination treatment program with a residual insecticide (along baseboards, behind appliances, under cabinets, sinks, around windows, etc) and an insect growth regulator to help stop the reproduction cycle.
Repeat applications of spraying the insecticide and replacing bait placements are required every 10 to 14 days. If still seeing roaches after 90 days, you will want to continue spraying the insecticide but rotate to another roach bait to offer a different bait matrix.
