Advion WDG Insecticide does not kill on contact, but is a non-repellent insecticide which means it can take a little longer to see control the target insect population, but can ultimately eliminate entire colonies of insects, as it works via the transfer effect.
For active roaches, you really want to use a combination of residual insecticide, roach bait gel and insect growth regulator for a complete treament program. Repeat treatments every 14 days are needed until you are no longer seeing roach activity.
The gel bait is designed to act as a food source that roaches will gather and take back the colony therefore provides a transfer effect throughout the colony by sharing the food aka bait.
Using a residual insecticide like Advion WDG Insecticide works through contact as roaches walk across the treated area and and then as they travel through the colony, transfers the active ingredient by touch. This leaves a residual on surfaces up to 60 days indoors and 30 days outdoors.
Gel baits and residual insecticides can be used at the same time, just not in the same areas. Do not spray on top of bait placements and do not place bait placements on top of where you spray as this contaminates the bait.
Please view our Roach Control Guide for more information.
Advion WDG Insecticide is safe for pets and people if used as directed on the product label. It is recommended to keep people and pets out of the area during the application, and once the treated area has completely dried, it is then safe to allow pets and people to re-enter the area.
While Advion WDG Insecticide is a great option to use for the residual insecticide as part of a roach treatment program however would not be recommend it as a stand alone product as active roach infestations require a combination treatment of residual insecticide, roach bait and insect growth regulator.
Roaches require repeat applications every 14 days with the residual insecticide and roach bait placements. If after 90 days you are still consistenty treating, rotating the roach bait gel can help to prevent any resistance or avoidance. If chosing to rotate the residual insecticide, either Alpine WSG or Temprid FX would be great alternatives. You do not need to rotate with every retreatment, 90 day rotations are fine.
