Bifen IT is a professional-strength insecticide and termiticide that provides long-lasting control of over 75 pests with a low-odor, non-staining formula that can be used both indoors and outdoors, including on lawns and ornamentals.
Bifen IT Insecticide contains 7.9% bifenthrin Talstar P, a synthetic pyrethroid known for its long-lasting residual. It doesn't kill on contact. Instead, insects walk through treated areas and absorb the active ingredient. Once exposed, pests experience nervous system disruption and die shortly after.
This delayed reaction allows insects to return to nests or harborage sites before dying, helping to spread the treatment further. Bifen IT also works as a repellent, especially useful for social insects such as ants and roaches, by discouraging new pests from following scent trails or settling in treated spaces.
Bifen IT is highly effective against a wide range of insects, including:
A full list of target pests is available on the product label or see below.
Bifen IT Use Areas:
Indoor Applications:
Mix between 0.33 and 1 ounce of Bifen IT per gallon of water. Apply Bifen IT using a low-pressure sprayer into cracks, crevices, behind appliances, under sinks, and around plumbing or other areas prone to pest infestations. Do not use it as a broadcast spray indoors. Limit reapplication to once per week and only if signs of pest activity return. It may be applied as foam for treating wall voids or for visible application in sensitive areas. Always read the label before use and follow all instructions.
*Bifen IT is NOT labeled for control of bed bugs in residential or commercial areas except for in livestock and poultry housing structures.
Outdoor Applications:
Mix between 0.5 and 1 ounce of Bifen IT per gallon of water. Spray a band around the base of your home or structure, going about 3 feet up the foundation and 2 feet out onto the ground. Also treat entry points like doors, windows, vents, and utility openings. Reapply every 2 to 3 months for general protection. Always read the label before use and follow all instructions.
Mosquito Control: Spray foliage, shaded areas, and resting spots using a dilution of 0.33 to 1 ounce per gallon of water. See our ‘How to Get Rid of Mosquitoes’ guide for mosquito treatments.
Lawn and Landscape Use: Use a hose-end or pump sprayer to apply Bifen IT across lawns, bushes, and ornamental plants. For chinch bugs or other turf pests, water the area lightly before application to help the product reach deep into the thatch. Spraying early in the morning or late afternoon is ideal to avoid high heat.
The amount of Bifen IT you use depends on your pest problem:
Each gallon of diluted spray typically treats around 1,000 square feet.
Bifen IT delivers professional results for both everyday pest prevention and serious infestations. It’s trusted by pest control pros, yet easy to use. Whether you're dealing with fleas in your yard or mosquitoes on your patio, Bifen IT offers long-term peace of mind, without the high cost.

I own a campground in Texas, and I have been using Bifen IT for several years. I mix 1 ounce of Bifen IT per gallon of water and spray a fine mist on the lower branches of the trees in the campground (up to 6 feet off the ground). The mist that does not land on the tree branches falls to the ground, so I don't have to spray the ground. I treat the campground once every 6 months, and I have absolutely no problems with any insect. It kills mosquitos and ants almost immediately upon contact, and it takes about 30 seconds to kill spiders. When spiders are sprayed, they usually remain still for 15 seconds. Then they begin to feel the effects of the insecticide and their legs start moving frantically back and forth. At the end of 30 seconds the spider is dead. I'm not talking about little spiders. The spiders we have around here have bodies the size of a golf ball. By the way, I should mention that I add 1/4 cup of Dawn liquid dishwashing soap to 15 gallons of mixed insecticide. The liquid soap helps the insecticide stick to the foliage. Excellent product!

It's amazing!
By Nick on 10/09/2008
I bought Bifen IT because I saw it so highly recommended on this website. I had seen at least one cockroach each day since moving into our new house, so I knew that it needed spraying. The instructions for the Bifen IT product were clear and easy to understand. I also got a 2-gallon sprayer to use, and it worked really well. I sprayed around the foundation up to 3 feet and about 2 feet away from the house, along with any other cracks and crevices around doors, etc. I haven't seen any cockroaches in the 6 weeks since I sprayed. It's amazing! I did find a dead one outside the house around the perimeter of the porch. This stuff really works. For the price, it's a bargain, and you can save yourself a lot of money by taking the hour or so to completely do your house. I plan on re-spraying every 3 months to keep the bugs out. If you're looking for a good deal on pest control, do it yourself with Bifen IT. I also had some questions about how to use it and the customer support people here on the site were very prompt and helpful.

"Secret" solution
By Sharon on 02/21/2008
I live in South Florida and about 4 years ago I noticed a 'new' variety of ant which came in fast and furious. The first year wasn't terribly bad but the second year they had multiplied 5x in numbers. I saw a pest control truck at a neighbors house and asked the guy what he knew about this new ant. He called it the "Caribbean Crazy Ant" (I looked it up on the Internet and sure enough, that was the 'new' ant). He told me that he could control this ant with a "secret" solution, and by the third year I called him for help. I live on a 1.3 acre landscaped lot with many trees, bushes, plants. He sprayed my yard and all the foliage for $200. I guess he thought that I would not attempt to spray this huge yard myself so he actually divulged his "secret" solution. He told me he used Talstar. So back to the Internet I went and found the generic Bifen IT brand. I ordered it and sprayed my own yard the next year for less than $30. The ants stayed away from my house and I will use this product each and every spring from this point on! BTW: of course, not only did it control the crazy ants, it has kept all other pests away as well!

Great stuff
By Butch on 06/22/2009
I like this better than Malathion and Sevin. I spray our lawn, perennials, annuals, shrubs, trees, rain gutters, under our deck and foundation with Bifen IT. I'm on a wooded acre and spray as much of my property as I can. I give everything a good wet spray with a hose end sprayer which offers more coverage than a tank sprayer. I spray a few days after a rain when everything is dried out. I've always thought that the rain and moisture breeds mosquitoes so that is a good time to spray them. There is no odor. But it's the insect protection that is fantastic. We spend a lot of time outside in the yard and gardens. We also spend a lot of time on our back deck at night. In the past it would be unbearable. This stuff kills bugs dead and keeps killing which seems like weeks at a time. Pesky mosquitoes and gnats are history. If you wanna be able to spend time outside and those flying insects are a problem then this is the stuff you need. I just hope the state doesn't outlaw it.

Extremely effective
By Scott on 06/15/2008
I use Bifen IT to control fleas outside where my cat hangs out (front porch and adjacent yard area). It has proven to be extremely effective when applied every 3 to 4 months during the spring and summer. I highly recommend this product.

My husband sprayed our lawn with Bifen IT, and there is some basil that are in pots out there. He said he didn't spray the basil, but I am now concerned about whether it can be eaten because it was sprayed near it. What do you think?
It depends on where you need to treat. Bifen IT and Temprid SC are similar as both contain a synthetic pyrethroid. Both are labeled for indoor and outdoor use, but Temprid SC is not labeled for turf and ornamental treatment. Bifen IT is labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests. They are both great insecticides and can be alternated to avoid resistance.

Bifen I/T is a great product for earwigs and a large variety of other insects as well. You will spray Bifen indoors around baseboards and cracks and crevices, and outdoors around window and door frames, and around the foundation of the home 2-3 feet up on the side and 2-3 feet out on the ground. Earwigs like moisture and dark areas so if you have any mulch or pinestraw against the home or close by in the yard, turn those areas to help dry them out and soak them down with the Bifen to help kill anything living there. Children as well as anyone other than the person applying the product need to be out of the area being treated while the product is being applied and until everything is fully dry. Once all surfaces are dry it is completely safe for everyone to return.

We get TONS of these little creepy bugs around our house and around the play sets our kids play on. I need something that kills them and keeps them away. Would Bifen IT work?
Yes, Bifen IT is labeled for earwigs. Spray indoors around the baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances and places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray a 3 foot band around the bottom of the foundation and then spray another band that is several feet wide out onto the ground immediately adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames, and places where utilities enter into the structure. If you have mulch up close to the foundation , you should rake it back at least 6 inches and turn it frequently to get rid of the moisture it can hold. Bifen IT can also be sprayed by the play set, but not on the play set.

Bifen IT is labeled for ants in general.
For crazy ants, we generally recommend our Raspberry/ Cariibean Crazy Ant Kit. It comes with everything you will need to do a complete treatment for crazy ants.
It is recommended the maximum use rate of InVict Blitz Ant Granules be applied on the initial application. InVict Blitz Ant Granules, a bait specifically designed to be palatable to Rasberry/Caribbean Crazy ants. InVict Blitz will be identified as a food by worker ants and carried back to the colony to be fed to the larvae. InVict Blitz contains imidacloprid and when fed to the ant colony will cause high mortality through ingestion and transfer to other ants. It is important to bait early in the season (February - March) to reduce colony sizes. InVict Blitz can be re-applied on a weekly basis. Apply a two foot band around the perimeter of a building which would equate to 4 oz of material / 200 linear feet. All turf and landscaping areas of the property can treated with 4-8 oz per 1000 sq ft., or 10-20 lbs. per acre. The high rate is recommended for the best results. Full applications of Invict Blitz can be reapplied in one week. Applications should also be made around exterior electrical boxes where these ants are known to invade.
It is important to incorporate an application of the liquid non-repellent insecticide Taurus SC. The treatment area is one foot up the structure and one foot away from the structure.
More than two applications of Taurus SC per calendar year can be made only if applied according to one of the following frequency and dilution rate application scenarios. DO NOT exceed the specified number of applications per calendar year.
The use directions include up to four (4) applications per year at the 0.03% dilution rate for outside surfaces and along the foundation perimeter of listed structures.
0.03% 4 times/calendar year OR
0.06% 2 times/calendar year OR
0.03% 2 times/calendar year and 0.06% 1 time/calendar year
Treatments may be made as a low-pressure general surface spray (coarse flat fan), crack and crevice spray or wall void application, where ants enter the structure, trail around the structure, or where they crawl and hide. For exterior perimeter treatments, apply the rate that's listed above of Taurus SC finished dilution to surfaces up to, but not to exceed, 3 ft. up and 10 ft. of sod out from the foundation. Mounds or nests can be treated directly.
Treatments are to be made up to 10 feet around areas where ants are found associated with utility wires (electrical, telephone or cable). Foam treatments can be applied to structural voids where ants may enter, trail or nest.
Up to four treatments are permitted per year per structure, but the second application may be made within 60 days.
Indoors:
Ants will go inside a structure looking for food, water and shelter. CimeXa Insecticide Dust is a desiccant, non-repellent, no odor insecticide dust that will remain active for 10 years, if it remains undisturbed. Apply CimeXa Insecticide dust at a rate of 2 oz per 1000 sq ft in areas where these ants are likely to be present such as behind baseboards, wall voids behind cabinets, sinks and tubs, cracks & crevices, crawl spaces, around electrical conduits and other areas. When the ant comes in contact with CimeXa they will die.
