Bifen IT would be a great product to continue to use for mosquitoes and noseeums. The key with application for mosquitoes is to apply to the underside of leaves of tree and bushes. You should apply once a month.
Bifen IT is one of our most popular products for Chinch Bug Control. The key is to use lots of water to carry the Bifen IT down to the thatch layer underneath the grass, where the chinch bugs do the most damage. Please read the product label for proper application instructions.
Bifen IT will treat Chinch bugs at the sign of damage. Dilute at 1oz per gallon water. Please also review our Chinch Bug control page.
Bifen IT is specifically labeled for a number of medically significant spiders including Black Widow, Brown Recluse and Hobo Spiders. It is important to remember that Bifen IT does not give an immediate knockdown but instead works over a period of several hours to kill spiders that have come into contact with the product. Bifen IT will also help to get rid of the insects that spiders feed on and that will help to stop new spiders from moving in. Indoors, spray around all baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances, in closets and storage rooms and in areas where utilities enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray around the bottom of the foundation, on the ground adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames and places where the utilities enter into the structure. Brown recluse spiders are a bit trickier to eliminate because they often stay hidden in areas where people do not or cannot spray. We recommend that in addition to the Bifen IT, you also use glueboards in areas where spraying would not be appropriate and to help monitor the infestation (cabinets, closets, under furniture, storage areas)
Bifen IT is labeled for roaches can be used to help eliminate a roach infestation. However, it should not be the only product that you use as roaches are difficult to treat and usually more than one type of product is necessary. We would recommend using one of our Roach Control Kits to ensure that you have everything you need. You may also want to take a look at our Roach Control Guide for more information on implementing a complete treatment program.
Bifen IT will kill wasps that it comes in contact with. The mixing ratio is 1 fl oz per gallon of water.
Yes, Bifen IT is labeled for earwigs. Spray indoors around the baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances and places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure. Outdoors you should spray a 3 foot band around the bottom of the foundation and then spray another band that is several feet wide out onto the ground immediately adjacent to the foundation, door frames, window frames, and places where utilities enter into the structure. If you have mulch up close to the foundation , you should rake it back at least 6 inches and turn it frequently to get rid of the moisture it can hold. Bifen IT can also be sprayed by the play set, but not on the play set.
Bifen IT should NOT be applied to bedding, mattresses or carpet to treat head lice. There is no reason to spray a residual insecticide around your home to treat for head lice. The adult head louse cannot live more than one or two days with out a blood meal. Nits cannot hatch if they are not on a human host, because their temperature cannot be maintained properly and the nit will not be viable.
Clothing, pillows, blankets and sheets should all be washed in hot soapy water and dried for at least 30-40 minutes on high heat in the dryer. Non washable items (stuffed animals, dry clean only clothing...) should be put in the dryer on high heat for at least 30 minutes. Any other items should be sealed in bag for at least 7-14 days.
Carpets and other flooring should be thoroughly vacuumed and the vacuum bag sealed in a plastic bag and thrown away. Furniture can be sprayed with Sterifab. Sterifab is an alcohol based product that includes a synthetic pyrethroid that is safe to spray on furniture and mattresses. Sterifab dries in about 20 minutes and does not leave any residual on the surface that is sprayed.
The coverage will depend on the type of pest you are treating for and the area that is being treated. Please check the Bifen IT product label to see what concentration and coverage rate your situation calls for. One pint of Bifen IT will make approximately 16-48 gallons of diluted solution and one quart of Bifen IT will make approximately 32-96 of diluted solution. If you need help figuring out the concentration please call customer service at: 866-581-7378
While Bifen IT is labeled for bedbugs, we recommend that you use a combination of products to effectively eliminate them from your home. Bifen IT will kill yellow jackets but only if they land on a surface you have treated. Have you tried looking outside in the morning or early afternoon? This is when yellow jackets are most active and chances are you can see where they are going into your home which usually would be under some siding or through a small opening in brick or around a window. If you can locate their entry point then it is an easy fix. Early in the morning or late at night when the yellow jackets are not flying around and not active, you can apply Tempo Dust into the opening using a hand duster. If you can locate the entry point, then this treatment will usually kill all of the yellow jackets within 24 hours. Once there is no more activity, you want to be sure to close the opening with caulk or some other method so future yellow jackets do not try to use the same entry point.
