    Q
Is Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula safe for bees if the solution is applied systemically while tree is dormant?
    A

For the most safety for bees and other pollinators, you should apply a systemic product such as Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula after any flowering plants have bloomed and the petals have fallen in the spring. For plants that do not flower, you could treat in late fall on larger trees so that you get quick uptake with new growth in the spring.

  • Asked by Elaine from Blacksburg, Va

    Q
For Bioadvanced Grub Control, which product has imidacloprid? When should this product be applied?
Is imidacloprid the same as Merit?
    A

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula contains Imidacloprid, the same active ingredient in Merit Insecticide at different percentages of the active ingredient. The Bio Advanced 12 month Tree and Shrub Insecticide is solely for trees and shrubs, Merit has a wider list of acceptable application sites (Lawns, interior landscapes, ornamental beds, turf grasses and more).

The active ingredient Imidacloprid provides year long systemic protection against listed insects. Applications can be done any time during the year as long as the ground is not frozen or overly saturated from rainfall. Since systemic insecticides work slowly from the roots and up throughout the plant or tree, you should apply prior to insect pressure begins. The systemic process can take anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months to fully work its way up from the roots depending on the size of tree, shrub, bush or ornamental.

  • Asked by Lana from Norco Ca
    01/29/2024
    Q
Does Bio Advanced 12 Month affect the flowers of plants and hurt the bees and hummingbirds?
Is there a residual effect that would make it necessary to cut the flowers from treated plants to protect bees and birds?
    A

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula should not affect ornamentals such as flowers & plants. Any systemic treatment has the potential to impact bees foraging from new blooms. Some customers do it in the fall months as the plant is going dormant so it has more time to absorb before it blooms in spring. Others wait until after the blooms have finished and the plant is more in a normal green growth state before they use it.

    Q
Will Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Form kill Asian gall wasp on chestnut trees?
    A

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula is not specifically labeled to treat oak gall wasp. Also, make sure to pick up all clippings from the bottom of the tree, before you application.  Please review the product label for complete application instructions.
