    Q
Can Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub be used on Asian pear?
Arborist noted small area white sap and recommend I treat with above product. We don't eat the pears but deer do. Will it harm them later when the fruit ripens?

    Q
Would Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control be effective on tulip poplar infested with tulip tree scale?
Tulip tree is approximately 5 years old. Heavily infested. Was not certain whether I should use this product or a dormant oil spray or both.
    A

Yes, Bio Advanced 12 month Tree and Shrub is labeled for soft scale like the tulip tree scale.  I would use a dormant oil like Hi-yield’s Dormant Oil spray along with this treatment for heavily infested trees with scale.

    Q
    Crape Myrtle Black Scale
Hi! I need help in finding something that can eradicate the black scale that is currently attacking my crape myrtle. I also have problems with all my other plants in the back yard, ie. black berry (after receiving the first crop this summer it's now dying), Japanese Maple (branches from one side of the tree is dying). I would appreciate any help that you could offer.
    A
For the black scale on crape myrtles, you may try using a product to drench such as Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. You may also spray with a product such as Monterey Horticultural Oil. You may view the product label here.

To clarify, as for the other plants that you mentioned, are they also experiencing issues with scales as well, or are they experiencing some other type of issue? Please respond with some more information so that we may further assist you.

    Q
How much Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula do I use for whiteflies on Hibicus?
Your dose rate of 1.5 oz per foot of height on an 8 foot Hibicus results in 12 oz of concentrate. Will this much hurt the shrub?
    A

The label of Bayer Advance 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula recommends to use 1.5 oz per foot of shrub, so yes, 12 oz in 1 gallon of water is the right amount and it will not hurt the shrub. Remember that it's going to work its way through all the stems of the shrub.

    Q
Can you give too much Bio Advanced 12 Month to a tree? Will it harm it if so?

  • Asked by Jack from Effort, Pa
    06/19/2021
    Q
Can Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Form be sprayed directly on tree?
If so how much to use? I have hemlock trees with wooly adelgids.
    A

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape Formula is applied as a drench around the base of the tree.  Per the product label, this product is applied once a year. For trees, you will need to get the DBH of the tree and apply 0.5 fl oz per inch of distance around trunk.

To get the DBH of the tree, measure distance in inches around tree trunk at chest height. A flexible tape measure is the recommended tool. Multiply the number of inches by 0.5. This is the number of ounces of this product to apply.
