The Trapper T-Rex Rat Trap is only going to be effective on rats; it will not work on mice as it is too large for them.  If you are needing a trap for mice as well, consider using the Mini T-Rex Mouse Traps.   You can use nuts, nesting material like a small piece of cotton, or small amounts of nutella in the trap for bait.
