It might kill them if they ingest it but this type of pest is generally treated with a topical kill insecticide. We would recommend using Fertilome Triple Action for squash vine borers. This product is an insecticide, fungicide and miticide all in one. This can be used up until the day of harvest.

A product that would be safe to treat the soil in your garden would be the Fruit Tree & Vegetable Systemic Soil Drench. Per the product label, Captain Jacks Deadbug Brew Flower and Vegetable Garden Dust is toxic to bees exposed to treatment for 3 hours following treatment. Do not apply this pesticide to blooming, pollen-shedding or nectar-producing parts of plants if bees may forage on the plants during this time period. This product is toxic to aquatic invertebrates. To protect the environment, do not allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area.
