The fact that the bait is being eaten every day is a good sign. Mice will not die immediately after eating rodenticide baits, and will probably die somewhere out in the field on their way back to the burrow. Contrac lasts about 2 years in the bucket. When placing the bait, the manufacturer recommends that the bait be changed out every 40-60 days.

We are sorry to hear you are having such a hard time controlling the rodent population on your property. Please don't be discouraged in your efforts! Contrac is not a consumer product, it is a professional product used by pest control companies. Having said that, we would recommend you use a product that has a much faster kill to wipe out the rat population quickly as you seem to live in a high population area. Fastrac works within 12-24 hours. Contrac by comparison can take up to 7 days. You should also make a few environmental changes to make your home less favorable to these rodents. If you are having trouble with rodents being attracted to a bait that you are using, then it is likely that they have another food source they are already using and, therefore, they do not need to try the bait. Contrac is a single feed bait, which means that rodents only have to feed on it one time to consume a lethal dose. It will then kill the rodents in about 1-5 days.
