    Q
Can I spray Cy-Kick CS on my rock walls that are surrounding my vegetable garden?
I wouldn't spray directly on the vegetables but the rock walls are about a foot away from them.
    A
As long as the Cy-Kick CS was only applied outside of the actual garden area it should not effect the soil or plants inside the garden area. If there is a doubt that some Cy-Kick CS got inside of the garden area you can remove the soil and replace it with fresh soil to avoid any contamination issues or disgard any plants that may have been sprayed.

    Q
Can Cy-Kick CS be used in a fogger?
Can I use the Cy Kick CS in the Fogmaster Jr 5330 to fog under a cabin crawl space to control scorpion infestation?
    A
Cy Kick CS per the product label can not be used in any type of cold or hot fogging device. Using it that way would either alter the effectiveness or clog/break your fogging unit. The Cy Kick CS is definitely the right product to use for scorpion control, however fogging would not be an accurate treatment option for this type of pest even if this product could be used in that application. Spraying under the crawlspace on every area you can reach would be the best way to control the scorpions, as well as creating a barrier around the foundation of the structure to prevent new ones from coming in. When spraying around the home/building for scorpions you will want to create a barrier 2-3 feet up on the side of the structure, and 6-10 feet out on the ground from the foundation. Since scorpions have such thick exoskeletons it takes more treated surface area for them to cross for the product to affect them. Also, try to eliminate any area around the home that create prime grounds for scorpions to thrive. The Cy Kick will not only eliminate the scorpions, but also the insects that they are feeding on as well which will push them to find food sources elsewhere. You can review helpful tips in our guide called Scorpion Pest Control. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Best combination of product to spray foundation around house for scorpions
Looking for the best combination of product to mix and spray into the jtrim and foundation of homes in Arizona to treat and hopefully flood out the scorpions.
    A

Our most popular product for scorpions is Cy-Kick CS, which is microencapsulated so it has a long residual, but also packs a punch.  There are many good reviews on the Cy-Kick page about how it works on scorpions. We also recommend the following to our customers with scorpions for the most complete treatment.

Non-insecticide methods for scorpion control are:

Harborage Removal- Harborage removal is key to scorpion control and will greatly reduce the numbers of scorpions in the area surrounding the structure, making it far less likely that they will enter. Harborage removal includes eliminating piles of lumber, bricks, and other stacked items that create clusters of tight spaces, elimination of vegetation and other heavy ground coverings near homes and buildings, trimming back tree and shrub limbs from walls and roof, and keeping gutters clear of leaves and other debris.

Exclusion- Scorpions and other pests can be kept out of structures to a large degree by installing tight-fitting screens, weatherstripping around doors and windows, and caulking cracks and crevices.

    Q
Will Cy-Kick CS work on spiral whitefly on palm trees safely?
    A
You will want to use a systemic insecticide such as Dominion 2L to control the whitefly. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Dominion as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion per foot of shrub height or 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter for trees. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per foot of shrub height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per foot of height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) as well. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested.  Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and translocated throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake. We also recommend using a product with an active ingredient that is different than the soil drench for a foliage application while you are waiting for the Dominion to translocate through the palm. Talstar P is the most popular choice for foliage application on palms for white fly.

    Q
Can I use Cy-Kick CS in a foamer?
I need to foam behind the walls in a large house (for drywood termites). FastOut CS would be much too expensive. Can I use Cy-Kick CS in a product like the Foamer Simpson? Also, could I combine Fipronil and Cyfluthrin in the Foamer Simpson? Thank you.
    A

According to Cy-Kick CS product label: This product can be converted to a foam and the foam used to treat structural voids to control insect and arthropod pests in walls, under slabs or in other void areas. Apply as a dry foam (approximately 25:1). Fill void with foam so that all surfaces are contacted. Mix end-use dilution with manufacturer’s recommended volume of foaming agent. Use the recommended rate suspension converted to a foam to achieve the desired foam expansion ratios. Verify before treatment that the foaming agent is compatible with this product.

We do not recommend using a fipronil based product in the same exact place or in the same foamer as the Cyfluthrin as the products would contradict each other. The fipronil would not be able to get back to the colony and you would in essence be ruining the effect of the product.

You can foam the product in a foamer simpson or other poly foamer but you would also need to use a foaming agent such as Pro Foam to make Cy-Kick CS foam.

    Q
When is the best time to apply cy-kick cs? evening or morning?
I am using this for brown ticks. I have them so bad that they got into my house and into my furniture and everything I try to put on my dogs isn't working so I'm having to pick them off.
    A

There is not a particular time that is necessary for the Cy Kick to be sprayed within other than making sure its not before a rain. While the Cy Kick is a great product you will probably see better success with something like Permethrin SFR mixed with Archer IGR like whats in our Tick Control Kit. If you are not using an IGR (birth control) when treating for ticks it will be extremely hard to get rid of them.

Permethrin SFR would be a great choice for indoor and outdoor tick control. We also recommend adding an insect growth regulator such as Archer IGR to Permethrin to stop the ticks from being able to develop while you are trying to eliminate the infestation. You will use 1 oz of Permethrin +  1oz of Archer IGR per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft area. Do not make spot applications. Treat the entire area where exposure to ticks may occur. Use more water (not more product) when treating areas with dense ground cover or heavy leaf litter. Ticks may be reintroduced from surrounding areas on host animals. Retreatment may be necessary to achieve and/or maintain control during periods of high pest pressure. All of your dogs should be treated with a product that is specifically labeled for use on dogs for tick control.

You can also help by creating a "tick safe zone" in your yard. You should have an area that is at least 9 ft wide between your yard and any wooded area. Trim back trees to allow as much sunlight as possible into your yard. Keep grass as short. Remove as much leaf litter as possible. A clearly defined, well manicured border between your yard and any wooded areas or weedy lots will reduce the chance of ticks infesting your yard.

    Q
I live in San Antonio, Texas. What type of scorpions do we have in this region? They are light brown?
    A
Without having a picture it is hard to give a 100% percent I.D. It sounds like a Bark Scorpion which is very common for your area. To treat them, you would want to use a product like Cykick CS.  Cy-kick CS liquid concentrate insecticide provides 90 days of full-throttle killing power, controlling insects indoors and outdoors. Cy-Kick CS creates a thick barrier of microcapsules that is impossible for insects to cross without being exposed to a lethal dose of insecticide

  • Asked by Tayler from Ogden, Ut (soon To Be Phoenix, Az)

    Q
Where are the best places to use Cy-Kick, Delta Dust and/or Drione Dust when treating for scorpions?
We're moving to an area of Arizona outisde of Phoenix that is known to have frequent scorpion problems. I've already ordered several products to treat our new home (in addition to trying to seal the house and eliminate harborages in the yard). I've ordered Bifen granules to treat the yard and rock landscaping; Cy-Kick CS to treat around the foundation, the walls of the house, around bushes, and around baseboards and entry points inside the home; and both Drione Dust and Delta Dust to treat void spaces. So, I have a few questions: First, when treating with Cy-Kick inside the home, how and where do you spray most effectively for scoprions? Can Cy-Kick be applied in the attic as well? Second, when treating with Delta Dust and Drione dust, where are the most effective places to use each type of dust - both inside and outside the home? (I have read some sites that say to use a 50/50 mixture of drione and delta dust throughout the home. I've also seen some sites that say use Drione dust under cabinets and appliances, around switches, vents, and fixtures - and to use Delta Dust in the attic because insects will avoid Drione dust and using it in the attic may drive pests downward into living spaces. I'd never heard that before - and I certainly want to kill whatever is in the attic while it's in the attic without driving pests downstairs.) And is it overkill to both spray and dust in attic spaces, or to spray Cy-Kick around baseboards as well as applying dust under baseboards? Will both pesticides still be effective if used in the same place?
    A
When using Cy-Kick inside, you are applying to cracks and crevices around the room, along the baseboards, bottom of door frames, behind the toilet when the pipes come in, etc.  You would use either the Delta Dust or Drione Dust, we would not advise of using them together it would really be a waste of product.  The key is applying only a light dusting so that insects will not avoid it, if you can see the dust, so can they.  You would apply underneath baseboards, inside of cracks and crevices, and behind cabinets and in the attic around the vents and other cracks and crevices.  Please also read over our scorpion control article here

Can I use Cy-Kick CS on my lawn that has a large pecan tree? I would like to treat mosquitoes in my yard but I have a large pecan tree that I don't want to harm (it or the pecans themselves).
    A
Cy-Kick CS is not safe to treat on or near nut trees including pecans. You can use it in the lawn because it wont leach into the soil. We would not recommend applying right up against the tree. You can use Monterey Fruit tree spray. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

    Q
Does Cy-Kick CS work on bird mites?
    A

Cy-Kick CS is not labeled for bird mites.

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. We would recommend having a pest control company come out and do an inspection and/or getting a sample and taking it down to your local cooperative extension office. In the mean time, there are things that can be used for your situation. Sterifab  can be used on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. This is a contact kill and will not leave any residual. Onslaught can also be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. This is a residual and can be used every 90 days indoors. You can also put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs

We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

    Q
Will the quart size of Cy-Kick CS be enough to treat my front and backyard? If so, how many applications will I get out of this size bottle?
    A

Cy-Kick CS is a pint size (16 oz) bottle. Depending on the targeted pest, you will mix 1-2 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. At this ratio, the bottle makes 8-16 gallons of finished solution which should treat 8-16,000 sq ft.

I have a cutworm infestation in my front yard. Will Cy Kick CS work?
    A

No, Cy-Kick CS is not labeled for cut-worms. We would recommend using Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor 10% Permethrin Insecticide. This product is labeled for cut-worms. The mixing ratio is 0.5 oz. per 3 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft.

    Q
Is Cy-Kick CS good to combine with Demand G (bifen) for springtails?
We have been using Demand G to control springtails, but have noticed an increase in springtails. We were wondering if applying this product as well would help or if there's a better product to apply? Thanks for any direction you can provided.
    A

We advise to not use both product in the same treated area as the chemicals will not work effectively when applied on top of one another. You can apply the Demand G under mulch, pinestraw, logs, or wood chips with a hand spreader according to the product label. With Cy-Kick CS we advise to spray with a hand pump sprayer of the surface of the foundation, walkways, or other surfaces where springtails are active.

Yes, Cy Kick CS will kill cluster flies. It is recommended that you apply the product in cracks and crevices where the pests would reside. Do not repeat applications more than twice a week. Treatments need to be done at least 3 days apart. The mixing ratio is 1-2 fl. oz. per gallon of water. Unfortunately, this product cannot be shipped to NY unless you have a pest control license.
