    Q
    Demand safety
What are the ingredients in your product? How safe is it? I just had this product sprayed in my home and the company said it is safe. However, I want to know what is the recommended time frame between spraying and they also told me it is safe. After looking at he answered questions it says its safe when it is dried and to keep away for 2 hours. I am in my home when they sprayed and i was told it was safe.
    A
Demand CS is safe once it is dry. The active ingredient in Demand CS is lambda-cyhalothrin. The timeframe to re-enter your home is between 1-2 hours. If the product has already dried around your home, it is safe to enter and/or be in the rooms that were sprayed. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
    Spraying techniques
I have a one gallon sprayer for applying DemandCS. I have an unfinished basement that has some drywall in spots. There are a fair amount of spiders so I am trying to take care of that. When I spray along the top edge of the basement, after a few minutes I return and the application has dripped down the wall somewhat. Also around the windows you can see it dripping. I have the most fine nozzle I can put on the sprayer. Any techniques for this?
    A
The dripping of the Demand CS even after spraying on the fine mist setting can be a direct result of the actual sprayer or because you are spraying with your nozzle too close to the  application area. Try standing and positioning the tip of your wand further back to test for drip and if it still happens maybe try purchasing another sprayer that is more of a professional brand such as out B&G Sprayers.

  • Asked by Carl from Queen Creek, Az

    Q
I have been treating my home with Demand CS and Delta Dust; why am I still getting a lot of scorpions?
Any ideas on how to get rid of them???
    A
When treating for scorpions, the product needs to be sprayed in the area where they are. Generally speaking, scorpions are drawn to dry areas, and their main sources of food are usually small insects such as crickets and spiders. Keeping your home free of these insects will make it much less likely that scorpions will be a problem, so general pest control is always advisable. If they do get into your home, they are usually found in secluded dry areas such as closets and garages. They have also been known to hide in piles of clothes, particularly ones that have not been moved recently. Eliminating these hiding spaces will go a long way in making your other control efforts more effective. Because they are more susceptible to the negative effects of a scorpion sting, it is important to ensure that any area where your children and pets might play or live is treated thoroughly for these pests. Although, you should be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how long to separate them from the area after it has been treated. As always, feel free to e-mail or call us with any concerns or questions.

  • Asked by David from Prairie View, Texas

    Q
Will Demand CS get rid of millipedes in Texas?
    A

    First you want to

    • Repair cracks, crevices, and gaps around windows, doors, pipes and wires with sealant or caulk
    • Makes sure the screens and door sweeps on windows and doors are tight-fitting

Then you want to flush out the area with an adulticide like:

CB Air Devil HPX is a cypermethrin residual contact kill aerosol that HPX is specially formulated to clear out large numbers of target insects fast, and provides up to 3 months of protection. For treatment of millipedes, spray CB Air Devil around doors and windows and other areas where millipedes may be found or where they may enter premises. Spray baseboards, storage areas and other locations. Repeat as necessary.

Next you want to do the perimeter treatment indoors and out.

Demand CS, and Suspend SC, are residual liquid formulation pesticides that are added to water and applied with a low-pressure sprayer can provide a powerful residual that continues working for 4 to 8 weeks following application. These residual liquid formulations can be sprayed along the outside perimeter of the home (especially under and around eaves, decks, patios, and window shutters), and inside along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, and other potential millipede harborages. You will know the residual is working because you will begin finding only dead millipedes rather than live ones.

    Q
Will Demand CS get rid of bird mites?
    A

Demand CS is labeled for mites in general across a lawn only.

Here is our best advice on mite control:

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with mites. Have the suspected mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for mites.  If you do indeed have mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead rodent on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use Cimexa Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust.Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

  • Asked by Jim from Northern, Wi

    Q
Will Demand CS on the outside of the house work for cluster flies?
How do I get rid of/prevent cluster flies (hundreds) They do die......but "after" they are in the house.
    A

Demand CS is not a contact kill so once a fly contacts a treated area it could still get inside before it succombs to the insecticide, but that does mean that it is working.  If the cluster flies have already made their way indoors they will be harder to control because they usually hide in a wall void or other inaccessible area and are only visible when the house warms up. If the cluster flies are in an attic or drop ceiling or other dark area, a fly light would do a great job controlling the population. Using small fly lights such as the FlyWeb Fly Light in the house would also help to catch the flies. Spray Talstar directly on baseboards, window frames, door frames, and places where utilities (pipes, wires, cables) enter in to the building and any other crack, crevice or gap where insects can enter.  We also have a great guide here on "How to Get Rid of Cluster Flies" that might help.

    Q
Can you spray Demand CS on grass and let horses graze on it after it dries?
I have a carpenter ant problem and would like to spray my entire lawn with Demand CS. Is it safe for the horses to graze after it dries?
    A

Demand CS is not labeled to be used where animals graze and would not be recommended in this area.  The only insecticide product we carry that would be safe is the Essentria All Purpose though baiting is the recommended method for carpenter ants.  We have a great guide here on how to treat for them that could help.

For environmental hazards we strongly advise to keep away from storm drains, drainage ditches, gutter or water surfaces as well as sewer drains as the chemicals are toxic for contaminated water resources in the area. We advise to apply according to the product label for further information.
