Demon WP Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Demon WP Insecticide needs to be used within 24 hours of mixing with water.  In the original envelope it has a 5 year shelf life if kept out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

We would recommend Demon WP for your problem.  Demon WP is a powder you mix with water and apply using a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  Demon WP is excellent for the cracks and holes in the basement and around the apartment because powder sticks to porous surfaces.  It is labeled for inside and outside use, and it is very safe for pets.  Once you have applied the product and allowed it time to dry, usually 30-45 minutes, it is perfectly safe for your pet to re-enter the room or to go outside.  It is also labeled for just about any pest you would have a problem with.  The 1lb container will last for years and will make enough solution to treat every 3 months for years to come. 

 Demon WP Insecticide  will not eradicate fleas. You will also want to  mix in an IGR like Precor IGR to break down reproductive cycle. It can take multiple treatments wo eradicate fleas.

These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix Demon WP/Cyper WP and Talstar P/Bifen IT together.  Talstar P/Bifen IT is a synthetic pyrethroid and Demom WP/Cyper WP already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

Demon WP is an excellent broad spectrum insecticide that can be used safely and effectively indoors and outdoors for roaches, ants, and most other comon insects. Keep in mind that because the Demon WP is a wettable powder, it will leave behind a white film that can be noticable on darker colored surfaces. If your units have white or light colored molding or baseboards then the residue will not be noticeable. If you are wanting an indoor insecticide that dries completely clear then Suspend or Talstar would be great options. Typically, baits work best for ants since ants are normally foraging for food. Providing them with a bait that they can take back to the colony and share is usually more effective then spraying for ants. Advion Ant Bait gel is a fantstic ant bait that is labeled to kill most ant species. If an ant spray is preferrable, then Suspend SC would be your go to ant spray for indoor control.

Once Demon WP has dried, it is safe for your pets to be in the area that was treated. 

It is perfectly normal to keep seeing fleas for several weeks after the initial treatment. This is because of the natural life cycle of the flea and you are now seeing newly hatched fleas. Most folks find they have to do between 2-4 treatments to get rid of the fleas for good. We do not recommend using Demon WP indoors for flea control as it is not labeled for broadcast sprays indoors.

You should utilize glueboards to trap spiders and other insects in the kitchen and insecticides such as Demon WP or Cy Kick CS in other parts of the house and also around the exterior of the house for spider/insect control.

Demon WP will do a great job getting rid of the brown stink bugs that land on treated surfaces.

Repeat treatments with Demon WP Insecticide can be done as necessary, but not more than once every 7 days 

It is always a good practice to alternate products with different active ingredients. A great alternative to Demon WP would be something like Suspend SC. Suspend SC is a general insecticide that is labeled for various pests, including roaches, mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, etc. This can be used indoors and outdoors around the perimeter of your home. We would recommend 30 days between applications of different products.

You should not apply Demon WP when you are experiencing any freezing temperatures per the product label.

We normally would not recommend to use Demon WP Insecticide for carpenter ants. Although, it will kill the ants that contact it, it will not eliminate the colonies. 

We generally recommend using Dominion 2L for carpenter ants in trees. This can be used directly on the tree or as a soil drench.

You can use 1-2 scoops per gallon of water for ant control with Demon WP. Most folks use the higher usage rate for the initial treatment and the lower usage rate for maintenance treatments. You would want to make sure the area you are treating with Demon WP Insecticide is clean and completely dry before applying the product.

Demon WP must be used or discarded within 24 hours of being mixed with water. 

Demon WP is labeled for use outdoors in areas where fleas develop. Demon WP should not be sprayed on any area where a horse may graze.

Each 0.3 oz packet of Demon WP is used in one gallon of water. Two 0.3 oz packets can be used in one gallon of water to eliminate harder to kill insects.
 

Demon WP actually is not labeled to treat for carpet beetles indoors, but it will help to combat a variety of other pests listed on the product label. A great IGR for carpet beetles would be Gentrol IGR. You can mix this concentrate with an insecticide and apply them at the same time. A great choice for insecticide to use with Gentrol as a crack and crevice treatment would be Suspend SC, which is a liquid concentrate. Be sure to vacuum thoroughly and often when treating for carpet beetles to help pick up adults, eggs, and debris that they may feed on such as animal dander.

Demon WP Insecticide  is not labeled for fruit flies or gnats.

A better option would be Talstar P. This product is labeled for both insects and can be used indoors and outdoors. The residual is 30 days outdoors and 90 days indoors. The mixing rate is 1 fl oz per gallon of water.
