    Q
How soon can I replant a tree after a pre-emergent application with Dimension 2EW?
I plan to plant nursery trees this spring, but after an application of Dimension 2EW has taken place. How long should I wait before planting?
    A
Dimension 2EW is labeled to be used over the top of ornamental plantings so while it would not harm the trees if applied before planting you would be disturbing the soil barrier that Dimesion creates if planting after application and it may be as effective as it should be.  It would be best to apply after you have planted the nursery trees.

  • Asked by Robert from Ozark Arkansas
    03/08/2015
    Q
Just ordered Dimension 2/8/2014 . I live in Arkansas west central. Want to use when received.
I want to control crab grass in Bermuda grass. Do you have any suggestions?
    A
With Dimension 2EW, there are various plans you can chose from. Plan 1 provides about 3-5 months of pre-emergent crabgrass control. This is the plan most individuals go with because it is for residential lawns. You will use 0.28 fl. oz. per 1000 square feet. Water is a carrier of the product so we recommend using at least 2 gallons of water to ensure you are getting the right amount of product into the ground to control the pre-emerging weeds. Once the product is down, it is recommended that you water the product in again to activate it.

    Q
Is Dimension 2EW suitable for lawns with established fruit trees?
I'm in north Florida and have several established citrus and fig trees. Is this product okay to use on my lawn around them without making the fruit from these trees unsafe to eat?
    A
Dimension 2EW should not be applied within the drip line of any fruit trees. Also, the label does state that if your lawn is treated with Dimension 2EW, the grass clippings should not be left around the fruit trees.

  • Asked by Jim from Dallas, Tx
    03/26/2015
    Q
Do you recommend using a back pack pump sprayer to apply Dimension 2EW?
Also, what type/brand hose end sprayer can be used?
    A
You can use a hose end sprayer or any backpack sprayer to apply Dimension 2EW.  Keep in mind herbicides do not give a water amount.  They only tell you how much of the product to apply over 1000 square feet and this will depend on your grass type and program you are using to apply.  The amount of water is dependent on how ever much water it takes for you to walk 1000 square feet.  Whether you place the amount of product per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water or 10 gallons of water, it does not matter, just as long as that amount of product is distributed over the 1000 square feet.  Please refer to the product label for complete intructions.

    Q
What is the coverage for the half gallon size? The label is vague regarding coverage and amount to use per gal
    A
Dimension 2EW Herbicide coverage does vary depending what and where you are treating.  So, one 1/2 gallon mixing at .75 - 2 pints per acre could give  you anywhere from 2-4 acres coverage.

  • Asked by Joe from Ann Arbor Michigan

    Q
Can Dimension 2EW be applied below 32 degree F?
    A
Dimension 2EW can be applied below 32 degree when the ground is not frozen and should be done before soil temps reach 55 degree for 4-5 days as that is when seeds begin to germinate.  Timing is always key when applying pre-emergent herbicides depending on the region you are in.

  • Asked by Adam from Ronan, Montana
    04/14/2015
    Q
Can I use Dimension on bare soil and if so, how long do I need to wait to lay new sod down?
    A
Yes, Dimension 2EW can be applied to bare ground. The sod can be put down immediately after an application of Dimension 2EW. When putting down sod, make sure to do a heavy application of the product to ensure that if the soil is disturbed when putting down the sod, that the weeds will still be prevented. You will use more water, not product.

  • Asked by Chris from Minnesota
    04/15/2015
    Q
Can Dimension be mixed with Drive XLR8?
I live in Minnesota and have a crab grass issue. Can I mix Dimension and Drive and apply at the same time? Also, would a surfactant be beneficial to use or even possible with the combination?
    A
As long as you do a tank mix test first to ensure no clumping or adverse effects occur in tank, you can mix both products together to acheive both pre and post emergent control of crabgrass. Since the Drive XLR8 requires the use of a surfactant you can mix that into the tank as well.

  • Asked by Rita from Reed City Michigan
    04/19/2015
    Q
Ratio product to water when using Dimension.
    A

Herbicides are a lot different than other concentrated products and can be hard to understand at first. The application rate depends on the the type of turf you have and how quickly you apply the product.  You will need to read the product label to determine the correct usage rate for your needs (you did not give us any information about the type of lawn, region or application program you will be using so we cannot give you exact rates). The amount of water used to apply Dimension herbicide is not critical, but should be sufficient for uniform coverage of the target area. Calibrate by determining the volume of water required to treat 1,000 square feet. Use this calibration volume to determine the amount of water and Dimension herbicide needed to treat the target area (see the following calibration example). Note: Sprayer calibration (volume of spray needed to treat 1,000 square feet) will vary with each individual operator.

    Steps in Calibration:
    1. Mark an area of 1,000 square feet (i.e. 20 by 50 feet or 25 by 40 feet).
    2. Place the sprayer on a level surface and add water noting the final level of water in the spray tank.
    3. Spray the marked area with a sufficient volume of water to provide uniform coverage. Refill the sprayer to the same level as before measuring the amount of water added. The measured water added to the sprayer is the volume needed to cover 1,000 square feet.
    4. Determine the application rate (0.55 - .73 fl. oz./1,000 sq. ft.) for Dimension from the Recommendations section of this label.
    5. To each volume of water used as measured in step 3, add the amount of Dimension as determined in step 4.

Example: If the sprayer uses 1 gallons of water to cover 1,000 square feet and the desired application rate of Dimension is .55 fluid oz./1,000 square feet, then you would add .55 fluid ounces of Dimension to every 1 gallon of water to be used."

  • Asked by Chip from Bokchito, Ok
    05/13/2015
    Q
Would this be used as a fall pre-emergent?
Most of the information pertains to applying it at the correct time in the spring. Would this be an effective fall pre-emergent for southern Oklahoma pasture land or is the spring application all that is needed? Is there a better product for fall application?
    A
Dimension 2EW can be used as a pre-emergent treatment in early spring, summer, late summer and fall. When you do your applications will depend on what you are treating for. Please refer to the label for Dimenison 2EW to check the plans and rotation for specific weeds.

    Q
Dimension 2EW Herbicide used wrongly on pasture, when is it safe to graze this pasture again?
a commercial applicator used the product in a mix for initial weed control which I, ignorantly, allowed to be sprayed on pasture. How long does it take for the chemical to dissipate?
    A
Dimension 2EW Herbicide  will stay in the soil up to two years. It will be unsafe for the animals to graze until after the Dimension has left the soil. Since this product was applied off label, you may also contact Dow AgroSciences 800-992-5994 for further assistance trouble shooting this.

    Q
Would Dimension 2EW Herbicide work well on annual bluegrass (poa annua)?
I live in north NC, and I'm planning an application in fall for annual bluegrass.
    A

Dimension 2EW is labeled to control poa annua (annual bluegrass) before it emerges and should do a good job when applied at the right time. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.  If you are already dealing with Poa Annua, you will need to use a post-emergent, and we do carry several.  Which you choose depends on your grass type.  Certainty is a good choice, but please refer to the label to ensure it can be used on your lawn type.

  • Asked by Steve from Milton, Fl
    08/18/2015
    Q
What weed killer and/or pre-emergent herbicide can I use on Centipede/St Augustine lawn?
I have a slew of various weeds in my lawn which consists mostly of Centipede grass but has some St. Augustine. I live in the Florida panhandle. Lawn weed killers sold at big box stores seem to have little effect and are cost prohibitive for large areas such as a 100' x 150' lawn. What active weed killer(s) and/or pre-emergent herbicides would you recommend? And, in the case of pre-emergent herbicides, when should they be applied? The list of weeds controlled by your Snapshot product seems to cover the gamut, but I cannot see where it can be used on Centipede/St. Augustine lawns. Thanks.
    A

SnapShot 2.5 TG is not labeled to be used on lawns at all and would not be recommended.  Dimension 2EW is our most popular pre-emergent herbicide for both grassy and broadleaf weeds and can be used on both St. Augustine and Centipede lawns.  For Southern zones like FL, you would do a fall application by Oct 1st and for spring you would do a second application between February and March 15th at the latest.   Re-applications and timing will depend specifically on what program you choose to use. Please review page 4 of the product label to determine the program that will best suit your needs.  Tenacity or Atrazine would be good post emergent herbicides for your lawn type.
