    Q
Ratio product to water when using Dimension.
    A

Herbicides are a lot different than other concentrated products and can be hard to understand at first. The application rate depends on the the type of turf you have and how quickly you apply the product.  You will need to read the product label to determine the correct usage rate for your needs (you did not give us any information about the type of lawn, region or application program you will be using so we cannot give you exact rates). The amount of water used to apply Dimension herbicide is not critical, but should be sufficient for uniform coverage of the target area. Calibrate by determining the volume of water required to treat 1,000 square feet. Use this calibration volume to determine the amount of water and Dimension herbicide needed to treat the target area (see the following calibration example). Note: Sprayer calibration (volume of spray needed to treat 1,000 square feet) will vary with each individual operator.

    Steps in Calibration:
    1. Mark an area of 1,000 square feet (i.e. 20 by 50 feet or 25 by 40 feet).
    2. Place the sprayer on a level surface and add water noting the final level of water in the spray tank.
    3. Spray the marked area with a sufficient volume of water to provide uniform coverage. Refill the sprayer to the same level as before measuring the amount of water added. The measured water added to the sprayer is the volume needed to cover 1,000 square feet.
    4. Determine the application rate (0.55 - .73 fl. oz./1,000 sq. ft.) for Dimension from the Recommendations section of this label.
    5. To each volume of water used as measured in step 3, add the amount of Dimension as determined in step 4.

Example: If the sprayer uses 1 gallons of water to cover 1,000 square feet and the desired application rate of Dimension is .55 fluid oz./1,000 square feet, then you would add .55 fluid ounces of Dimension to every 1 gallon of water to be used."

    Q
Once applied, how long after applying Dimension can we leave the pets outside on the lawn?
    A
As soon as Dimension 2EW has dried on the lawn it is safe to allow pets back on the lawn.  This depends on how hot it is, but most of the time 1 hour is plenty long enough for the solution to dry.

  • Asked by Mark from Virginia

    Q
What is the shelf life of Dimension 2EW?
I purchased a jug of dimension 2EW last March and today when I got ready to take it out of the locker the chemical properties appeared to have separated. Bronze colored liquid at top 2/3 of the jug and a thicker, pasty looking white colored substance in bottom 1-2 inches. Is the product still good. I tried to shake it but it did not seem to mix well again.
    A
The shelf life on most liquid herbicides (including Dimension 2EW) all depends on how they are stored. If the product has been tightly sealed and kept out of sunlight and extreme temperatures, the shelf life is 3-5 years.

    Q
Can this product be used with Ortho Dial n Spray and at what dial setting per gallon of water?
How many oz., tsp, or tbls per gallon of water? This is to treat annual bluegrass and crabgrass. Thanks
    A
You can use a hose end sprayer to apply this product, but we are not familiar with the Ortho model so we do not know what specifics to give you.  As far as application rates, we wish it was that easy.  Bluegrass and Crabgrass require slightly different treatments and also depend on where you live and what grass you have currently that you are trying keep them out of, which you did not state.  Also, herbicides do not give a water amount.  They only tell you how much of the product to apply over 1000 square feet.  The amount of water is dependent on how ever much water it takes for you to walk 1000 square feet.  Whether you place the amount of product per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water or 10 gallons of water, it does not matter, just as long as that amount of product is distributed over the 1000 square feet.  Since you are treating two different types of grasses, we recommend calling the manufacturer since they are the experts on their own product and could probably give you a more definitive answer than we can.  They should also be able to better help you with the settings on your hose end sprayer.  The manufacturer is Dow Agro and you can reach them at 1-317-337-3000.

    Q
Which pre emergent is best for nutsedge.
Every year i have problem with nutsedge. Can you recommend a good pre emergent herbicide.
    A
As far as we know, there are no products that exist that control nutsedge as a pre-emergent. The Dimension is one of our best pre-emergents for crabgrass and other broadleaf weeds but will not work for your needs. You would need to use a post emergent product like Sedgehammer to control the nutsedge once it has come up.

Does Dimension need to be watered in after applying.

Yes, Dimension 2EW is safe to use on well established St. Augustine lawns. What season you need to begin applications and usage rate will depend on what you are treating. Q
How soon after using Dimension 2EW can I seed my lawn?
    A
Since Dimension 2EW is a pre-emergent, you have to wait at least 3 to 4 months before re-seeding your lawn.  Pre-emergents of course will not allow anything trying to germinate to progress, so the grass seeds will not germinate until the Dimension 2EW is gone from the lawn.

  • Asked by Jeff from Stokesdale, Nc
    02/22/2016
    Q
Can Dimension 2EW Herbicide be applied to a rain-saturated lawn?
Labels of many other pre-emergents state not to apply to a water saturated lawn; by water saturated I mean a lawn that has had a decent amount of rain over the last month already. However, this product's label doesn't state anything about this--can you apply this product to an already wet/saturated lawn or will it simply wash off in the next rain (which is needed to activate the product)?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be applied to your lawn if the soil is saturated with water or not.  As long as there is no standing water in the parts of the soil that are being treated, it doesn't matter if the soil is saturated or not because, unlike a lot of other products, this product bonds to wet or dry soil.

    01/15/2014
    Q
What is the best pre-emergent product or products to control crabgrass, sedge grass and broadleaf weeds.
I am looking for a liquid or granular product that can be applied to my St Augustine / Zoysia lawn in St Augustine Fl. If possible is their one product that will control all of these problem weeds or will I need to apply more than one product. Also, what time of year should this be applied
    A

Dimension 2EW would be a great pre-emergent for established St. Augustine and Zoysia lawns. It is labeled for sedges, crabgrass and many other listed weeds. Please refer to the product label for specific application instructions.

    A
Dimension 2EW would be great as a pre emergent on fescue grass.  Dimension 2EW herbicide provides preemergence and early postemergence control of crabgrass, and season-long control of crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtail, spurge and bluegrass annual. Please consult the product label for application.

  • Asked by Adam from Ronan, Montana
    04/14/2015
    Q
Can I use Dimension on bare soil and if so, how long do I need to wait to lay new sod down?
    A
Yes, Dimension 2EW can be applied to bare ground. The sod can be put down immediately after an application of Dimension 2EW. When putting down sod, make sure to do a heavy application of the product to ensure that if the soil is disturbed when putting down the sod, that the weeds will still be prevented. You will use more water, not product.

  • Asked by Fred from San Jose California
    01/29/2020
    Q
Timing in between applying a post emergent herbicide and a pre-emergent herbicide
I have a landscape company in San Jose California
    A

Pre-emergents would be applied before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees as that is when crabgrass starts to germinate and you have to apply these types of products before the target weeds do so.  There is not time restriction between using a post and pre and some are applied together if you have weeds at the same time you need to prevent others but a pre should be applied before a post to prevent in the first place.  We do have general lawn care schedules here that can help.  The best pre-emergent for crabgrass is anything that contains Dithiopyr as it also has very early post emergent control of crabgrass only if you do not get it down in time and it pops up.  Once weeds have emerged you can use a product like Q4 for cool season turf applied when target weeds are actively growing as they only kill those weeds that are sprayed directly.  Those please note: For use in California: Biotypes of large and smooth crabgrass in California have shown varied response to this product. If control failure occurs following a full or split application, DO NOT reapply this product. Change to a herbicide with a different mode of action.

Tenacity would be an option if you do have this issue.

    Q
What pre-emergent herbicides are effective for st augustine grass in south Florida?
    A
Dimension 2EW is our most popular pre-emergent product for use on St Augustine grass. We do recommend that you check out the product label and make sure the weeds you are trying to prevent are listed as herbicides can be pretty specific as to what they will or will not work on.
