  • Asked by Curtis from Shreveport, La

    Q
How long will traces of Dimension last in our lawn? My wife worries I'll track it in the house after mowing.
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide can stay in the soil for up to 6-8 months depending on the application rate.  Once the area is dry you will not track it into the house since you need to water in ½ inch after application so that it gets into the soil to create a barrier.

  • Asked by Victor from Lake Jackson

    Q
Can I safely apply Dimension 2 EW to my St Augustine lawn?
I live in southeast Texas. I purchased Dimension 2EW. Will this herbicide harm my stressed St. Augistine lawn?
    A

Dimension 2 EW is safe to apply to St Augustine grass. We would not recommend applying to turf that is stressed by heat, frost, or drought.  We would also recommend split applications.  Please see the rate table on page 5 of the product label for recommended rates for your area.

    Q
How can I use Dimension to control Poa Annua while seeding?
How can I control Poa Annua in the fall while making sure my overseeding works and new grass grows?
    A

You will need to wait 3 months after applying Dimension 2EW Herbicide to reseed.  Or, you can reseed and after you get good growth and have mowed the new grass a minimum of two times you can then do an application of Dimension 2EW Herbicide.

  • Asked by David from Phoenix, Arizona
    02/12/2018
    Q
How much Dimension 2EW should I use in my 1-gallon container to cover a 220 square foot area?
To provide some background, I live in Phoenix, Arizona and have crushed granite gravel as a ground cover in both front and back yards. I have a 1-gallon battery operated sprayer. I performed a test with water to determine the area the 1-gallon sprayer will dispense. I was only able to cover a 10 x 22 area or 220 square feet before the water ran out. With that said, how much Dimension product should I use per 1-gallon? If my calculations are correct, I should be using .08 to .1 ounce of product. Also, what, if any, is the harm if I used more than the recommended amount?
    A

In Arizona, you would generally make two applications of Dimension 2EW Herbicide 5 to 10 weeks apart. We would recommend the Program 2 or 3 rates of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft and then 1.5 oz per 1,000 sq ft, or 2 applications of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft each, according to the product label. Be sure that you immediately water-in the application with a high volume of water any time there is a barrier like gravel over the ground. This will help get more of the active ingredient down to the soil so that it is not just absorbed into the rocks before it can reach the dirt. (Since this product is still intended to be used around turfgrass and ornamentals, you may not get the same results on a stone area.) At the 1 oz,1000 sq ft rate, you would use 0.22 oz of Dimension 2EW in 1 gallon in your sprayer to cover 220 sq ft.

  • Asked by Stephen from Tolar, Tx

    Q
What would be the best pre-emergent to use on field sandbur and burr clover?
We live in Hood County, TX and have sandy soil. Our yard has poor coverage of bermuda grass and we are overrun by Field Sandbur (grassbur, sandspur) and also either Burr Medic or Burr Clover. What would be the best pre-emergent to use on these plants?
    A

We would recommend Dimension 2EW for pre-emergent control but also consulting with your local extension office in your county for advisement on a fertilizer and weed control program.

Fertilome Weed Free Zone is a great post emergent broadleaf herbicide that is labeled for oxalis, black medic, burclover, and dozens of other broad weeds.

  • Asked by Ernie from Tempe, Az
    03/30/2017
    Q
Should I use dithiopyr or oryzalin? Which is a better pre-emergent?
    A

Whether oryzalin or dithiopyr is the best choice for you will depend on what weeds you are targeting, where you need to apply the product, and what price point you are wanting. Dithiopyr, which is the active ingredient in Dimension 2EW Herbicide, is the preferred pre-emergent for crabgrass and also covers a variety of other grassy and broadleaf weeds. Dimension also has the unique quality of offering early post-emergent control of crabgrass. Oryzalin (Surflan) is economical and can be used in some areas where Dimension may not be able to be used. Always be sure to check the product labels for whether the product you want to use is appropriate for your needs and safe to use around your target areas. Please let us know if we can further assist you.

  • Asked by Janie from Port Ludlow, Wa
    03/25/2016
    Q
How long does Dimension 2EW prevent weeds from reappearing?
We have a large yard and would like to find a product that we only have to apply once a year. Some areas 'permanent - rock parking/walkways; near building; and other in lawn borders and flower beds. What would you recommend? Thank you.
    A

The program that is chosen will depend on how long Dimension 2EW Herbcide lasts in the soil. For example, if Program 1 is done, it will provide 3-5 months of pre-emergent control. Most pre-emergent products will have to be applied at least twice a year to prevent Spring and Summer weeds.

  • Asked by Patrick from Houston, Tx
    08/31/2016
    Q
What pre-emergent do you recommend to control crabgrass on St. Augustine?
Moved into a new house and the lawn has quite a bit of crabgrass.
    A

For long term control though, you should apply a pre-emergent in the late fall and early spring which will prevent new crabgrass from coming up next year.  If you apply pre-emergent every year, you should not have issues with crabgrass long term.  Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass.

  • Asked by Shane from South Carolina
    09/09/2014
    Q
Can I spray Dimension 2EW as a pre-emergent in January and overseed my lawn in April?
I live in the "inner coastal zone" of South Carolina. The only weed problem I am battling is crabgrass. I plan on aerating early April and overseeding my existing lawn followed by fertilizing. My only concern is, if I spray Dimension 2EW in early January as a pre-emergent will it affect my overseeding and will it be effective in controlling early crabgrass?
    A
Yes, you can apply Dimension 2EW in January and then overseed in April as long as you wait a full 90 days between treatments. Overseeding of treated areas within 3 months after a single application of Dimension 2EW, or within 4 months after a split application program may inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrass.

  • Asked by Anonymous
    08/14/2015
    Q
Would Dimension 2EW Herbicide work well on annual bluegrass (poa annua)?
I live in north NC, and I'm planning an application in fall for annual bluegrass.
    A

Dimension 2EW is labeled to control poa annua (annual bluegrass) before it emerges and should do a good job when applied at the right time. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.  If you are already dealing with Poa Annua, you will need to use a post-emergent, and we do carry several.  Which you choose depends on your grass type.  Certainty is a good choice, but please refer to the label to ensure it can be used on your lawn type.

  • Asked by Mike from Wayne, Nj
    09/15/2015
    Q
Can Dimension 2EW Herbicide be tank mixed with Pendimethalin for spring pre-emergent application?
Or, what other pre-emergents might make a good mix with Dimension to provide the broadest possible protection? What about spring fertilizers that contain pre-emergents (Halts / Pendimethalin or Mesotrione). Is there any chance of a harmful interaction?
    A

Dimension 2 EW and Pendimethalin are labeled to prevent many of the same weeds, so we would recommend choosing the product that best fits your needs rather than making unnecessary applications. If you have specific questions about which pre-emergent would be best for your situation, you may reach our Customer Service team at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p.
