  • Asked by Matt from Edison Nj
    04/19/2013
    Q
Can I apply Dimension and Spectracide or other 2,4-d product simultaneously?
I would traditionally apply Spectracide Weed Stop for my spring weeds. Can I apply Dimension 2EW at the same time, possibly even mixed? I don't believe Dimension runs a risk of stressing the lawn, but I wasn't sure if this would be too much.
    A
We are unfamiliar with the Spectracide product so we are not sure if this application would be okay. We recommend contacting the Dimension manufacturer directly for more information. You can reach Dow by calling 800-992-5994.

  • Asked by Andrew from Dallas, Tx
    09/08/2018
    Q
Which product would be better in my situation, Dimension or Gallery?
We have Bermuda, Zoysia and Tall Fescue. Weeds are Crabgrass, Poa annua and spotted spurge. Which product is best? Leaning toward Dimension or Gallery. I would also like to have product that we can use in our flower beds ( mostly to control spotted spurge ).
    A

We would not recommend Gallery 75 DF, as it's not labeled for Crabgrass or Poa annua. We would recommend to use Dimension 2EW Herbicide, it's labeled to help with pre-emergent control of Crabgrass, Spotted Spurge and Poa Annua, it's also safe to use on Bermudagrass (except on Tifgreen 328 hybrid), Zoysia and Tall Fescue. Dimension 2EW can also be used on landscaped ornamentals.

  • Asked by Robb from Muskogee, Ok
    03/08/2019
    Q
Can Glyosophate be mixed with Dimension 2EW?
    How about with Trimec?
    A

Yes, Dimension  2EW can be tank mixed with a variety of other herbicides and fertilizers. It is always recommended to do a test mix first to make sure whatever product you are wanting to use with the Dimension blends easily and does not cause clumping or any reaction that would cause your equipment to clog. Keep in mind herbicides containing Glyphosate are non-selective, so it will kill any plants that you spray with it. If you are planning on doing a lawn renovation such as reseeding, you will need to wait a full season after applying Dimension before you can reseed the lawn.

  • Asked by Anthony from Snellville
    07/14/2018
    Q
Our temps are between 75 degrees at night and 90 degrees in the daytime. Can Dimension 2EW Herbicide be used now?
    A

Dimension 2EW is a pre-emergent herbicide, so it is best applied before soil temperatures reach those that are optimal for the weeds you are targeting. This is generally before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees in the spring.  In the fall, you would want to apply before soil temperatures cool to those favorable for these weeds, usually below 70 degrees. We recommend contacting your local Cooperative Extension for the best recommendation on application timing in your area.

    Q
Can Dimension 2EW Herbicide be applied in late spring/early summer?
Having near 90 degree weather every day.
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide should be applied when the soil temperature is at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This is generally done in early to mid March through the beginning of April depending on the temperature.

    Q
If Dimension 2EW Herbicide was frozen, can I still use the product?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide may lose it's effectiveness after being frozen repeatedly.  If it has separated it would be best to replace.  It should be stored in a cool, dry place out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

  • Asked by Roger from Ada, Ok
    02/14/2018
    Q
Can I use thinned-down water based paint to mix with Dimension 2EW as a marker so I can keep track of where I have sprayed?
    A

We do not recommend mixing any type of paint with Dimension 2EW Herbicide.  We do sell several varieties of spray indicators which are safe to use with herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides on your turf.  Our most popular choice is Turf Mark Blue.

  • Asked by Stephen from Tolar, Tx
    11/23/2017
    Q
What would be the best pre-emergent to use on field sandbur and burr clover?
We live in Hood County, TX and have sandy soil. Our yard has poor coverage of bermuda grass and we are overrun by Field Sandbur (grassbur, sandspur) and also either Burr Medic or Burr Clover. What would be the best pre-emergent to use on these plants?
    A

We would recommend Dimension 2EW for pre-emergent control but also consulting with your local extension office in your county for advisement on a fertilizer and weed control program.

Fertilome Weed Free Zone is a great post emergent broadleaf herbicide that is labeled for oxalis, black medic, burclover, and dozens of other broad weeds.

Will overseeding a yard in Sept then treating the yard with Dimension 2EW in February kill new grass growth?
    A

Overseeding of treated areas within 3 months after a single application of Dimension 2EW, or within 4 months after a split application program may inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrass.

    Q
In Indiana, what best time use Dimension to control speedwell and chickweed in bluegrass lawn?
    A

Pre-emergents like Dimension 2EW should be used before the weeds germinate in the fall time. We would recommend checking with a local master gardener in your area to give you an exact time. Here is the link:

  • Asked by John from Houston, Tx
    01/25/2015
    Q
Dimension 2EW and Gallery 75 DF mixing instructions
I am going to mix both Dimension 2EW and Gallery 75 DF in a Chapin 61900 backpack sprayer and use on my Houston, Tx St Augustine grass. I am following 2EW program 1 - 0.55oz and I think if I am reading correctly 0.50oz of Gallery 75 per 1000 sqft. (that sure does not like much at all). Do I use the recommended amounts from both labels since I am mixing the 2 together? Also after the I apply this on Feb 1 how soon can I reapply again? I have crabgrass, clover and spurge in my yard.
    A

Yes, you will mix the amounts as specified on the label. It does not sound like a lot, but it is enough product to treat the area in at least two gallons of water.

Re-applications and timing will depend specifically on what program you choose to use. Please review page 4 of the product label to determine the program that will best suit your needs for Dimension 2EW. The same will go with Gallery 75.

  • Asked by Randy from Jacksonville, Fl
    01/08/2015
    Q
If I plan to resod and entire lawn with St. Augustine how long after application of Dimension must I wait to
lay down the new sod? Last season the lawn was destroyed as a rental and was heavily covered with mature crabgrass and has been so for two seasons. Currently it is bare dirt and in the process of tilling in Black Cow for nutrient value. I would like to get the grass down as soon as possible. What are your recommendations? Would it be best to just get the sod down, and treat next dormant season after the lawn is established and hope for the best?
    A
Dimension 2EW is not labeled for residential lawns prior to plugging or sodding for pre-emergent control. It would be best for you to put the sod down first and then use a pre-emergent next year.

  • Asked by Mike from Tri-cities, Wa
    02/16/2015
    Q
How soon can I replant a tree after a pre-emergent application with Dimension 2EW?
I plan to plant nursery trees this spring, but after an application of Dimension 2EW has taken place. How long should I wait before planting?
    A
Dimension 2EW is labeled to be used over the top of ornamental plantings so while it would not harm the trees if applied before planting you would be disturbing the soil barrier that Dimesion creates if planting after application and it may be as effective as it should be.  It would be best to apply after you have planted the nursery trees.

  • Asked by Robert from Shelby, Nc
    07/30/2014
    Q
How soon can you reseed Fescue after using Dimension 2EW Herbicide
    A

After application of Dimension 2EW Herbicide, you can reseed 3-4 months after application. Per label:

    Reseeding, Overseeding, or Sprigging
Reseeding, overseeding, or sprigging of treated areas within 3 months after a single application of this product, or within 4 months after a split application program totaling more than 0.73 oz per 1000 sq ft (2 pints per acre), may inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrasses.
    Late Summer or Fall Application:
This product can also be applied in the late summer or early fall (late August through November) at the Program 3 use rates listed in the table below. A fall application followed
by an appropriately timed spring application provides season-long weed control. Do not exceed the maximum use rate per year. For Poa annua control see Section titled “Poa annua (Annual Bluegrass) Control” below.
    Program 3:
Use Program 3 for preemergence control in turf: (a) where turfgrass is cut relatively low (e.g., golf fairways); and (b) where turf maintenance or weed control was not conducted during the previous year. This program provides 4 to 6 months of preemergence crabgrass control and may also be used for early postemergence control up to crabgrass tillering at sites where turfgrass is cut relatively low (e.g., golf fairways). Make subsequent, sequential pre and/or postemergence applications where longer periods of control are desired. Split applications may also be made, with the rates in the Use Rates table being split across two
applications made 5 to 10 weeks apart. Split applications may provide improved weed control.
